35:31 You skipped over the tutorial that teaches you how to get Cloud up in the air. If you hold down square after dodging Cloud will go airborne. Once Cloud is in the air, hold square to close the gap.

Yeeees! Didn't think we would get Rebirth content that early! I love how they enhanced the combat. It feels like you're less stuck to the ground and more free with the movement. The perfect block is such a good addition. Didn't think they would just implement that for all characters after the DLC of Remake. Makes it more like "easy to play, hard to master". So many things you can do to just destroy the enemy. The confusion about the story is normal. You'll figure it out... with time. This beginning is throwing a lot at you! Glad you still have fun with it! Can't wait for more!

Yay, I've been looking forward to this! It's so nice seeing people experience the story with fresh eyes.

When is the next part dropping?

I always found the scene with Zangan hilarious. He’s sharing with the gang what happened 5 years ago and he’s like, I met your teacher and he said you were going places and I said yeah right. WHYYYYYY? 😆

Nobody reads the tutorials in this game. They all miss the new airborne combat techniques because of it. As cloud, airborne combat has to be intentional now. You can do a ranged attack with those blade beam things by dodging and then pressing the attack button repeatedly, but if you dodge and then hold the attack button you will zoom toward them and do actual airborne attacked more like in the first game. It is explained in that first tutorial, but everyone seems to see the very first part of it that says push squared to attack and assume that everything else is the same and that doesn't work once you get to more complex airborne fights.

"I am so confused" Yes... lol One gameplay hint I'll give: each character has a tutorial and a lot of people skipped them because "I played Remake, I know how to play." No. Each character got an upgrade with combat and it's worth doing their tutorials. Some abilities were updated and work differently, some got taken away and swapped with something completely different. Synergy skills and Synergy ABILITIES (CYNergy? Sorry, couldn't resist) are two separate things and one depends on the other. Don't skip the tutorials on those either because it can be very confusing. Enjoy the ride. Tifa's still bae.

I can't wait to watch this! But did I miss the video where you finished chapter 2 of the intermission dlc by chance? I was hoping to watch that one before this.

Finished watching and love to see the confusion, because when it all comes together, your reaction is going to be amazing! Lol. Doing great so for. One quick tip for combat, as opposed to the novels I usually leave 😅. For Cloud, if you dodge with circle and then press square to attack, he will throw out those ranged attacks. If you hold square afterwards, he will zip to the enemy, including ones up in the air. From there ypu can Dodge in the air and continue attacking and even launch some of his weapon abilities from the air as well. Hope that helps a bit. Can't wait to see how you take the rest of the story!

6:25 Guess you didn't notice but that wreck Zack passed on his way to rescue Aerith was the expressway boss you fought in Remake - the bike minigame where Cloud had to slash the four-wheeled giant robot 😂

Oh noooooo. Guuurl, you should look at the tutorials because things are not exactly the same AND it will help explain how things work in this game like materia, what it can be combined with, etc. For example Blocking in this game actually is VERY important because if timed correctly - your character will perfectly dodge the attack. That was not like that in the first part. Also battle mechanics are built upon from the last game like Synergy Abilities, and Sync abilities that dont cost any ATB. Just dont ASSUME you know it all cause there is A LOT to work with in this game. It’s absolutely incredible. AND FOR GODS SAKES - DO ALL THE SIDE QUESTSSSSSSSS! ❤

Been waiting for this playthrough for a long time! Excited to journey this with you. Also you totally missed visiting Tifa's house oops D: And Cloud can do Aerial jump now by pressing circle then hold square, he will fly to the target and stay in the air for as long as you like in combat. So much improvements from Remake. Enjoy the rest of the playthrough this is going to be fun to watch :)

This was such a fun episode! You mentioned gameplay hints... lemme tell ya, the combat is as good as you make it. I mean that in the best way, it's so customizable, and honestly everyone feels great to play as. I'll give three probably too long tips that are generalized: 1. Synergy skills/abilities. Synergy skills are things you can do at any time, like the Dualblade Dance you did a few times. Abilities work differently. You can only use these when your characters have used enough ATB charges. Usually, it takes 3 ATB charges per character you're planning on pairing up for an Ability. Once you're ready, you then use the Ability and it does the cool lil cutscene thing and a buncha damage. BUT that's not all it does. If you look to the side of the Ability in the menu, it has a colored symbol next to it. This is essentially a buff for the characters using the Ability. There's a Yellow Cogwheel, an Orange Hourglass, and Purple Infinity. Yellow = raises your Limit Break level. Meaning you can select from Level 1 or Level 2 limit breaks when the time comes. Orange = greatly increases stagger gauge. Purple Infinity = temporary infinite MP. TLDR: synergy abilities go brrrrr and make you stronk 2. Air combat. Something you may have figured out already is that some characters can fuck around in the air while fighting enemies. Cloud, for example, can actually do this. Remember the green blade beam things you were flinging around? You do those by dodging and then hitting the attack button. Same thing for starting air combat, but instead you hold down the attack button right after dodging. It's so fun, and some attacks work better from the air. TLDR: dodge then hold down attack button to go fly 3. You got the right idea with Materia! The linking of green and blue materia is HUGE for making you powerful as hell, and can even go as far as make you [redacted] if you [redacted]. Basically, it's worth playing around with these! Purple materia is gonna be passive buffs, like HP Up, etc. Yellow is command materia, like Assess. Red is summon, which you already pointed out. Green is magic, both offensive and defensive. Blue is support materia, which is mostly useless unless directly linked to a Magic materia. TLDR: green + blue = worth

You just jumped in with both feet on this franchise. This game is very long, don't be in a hurry to advance the plot line.

And here we go.....the next part of the story. The FF7 Remake project is my dream game. Back when I first played FFX I would always say "now imagine if FF7 had these graphics" and we finally here. Remake was cool but all it had was Midgar, now we get to see the rest of the world. Aw man theres lots to see with not only locales, but also the story and characters yet to be met. Glad they started Rebirth with the flashback as its a fantastic place to start.

This reminds me of something that happened to me once. I met a stranger from a strange exotic land. They were walking around outside the local Rally's fast food joint, looking very confused. I don't normally do this but I approached them slowly and asked if they were OK. They turned to me and said something in a tongue I had never heard before. When it became clear to them I had no idea what they were saying they pulled out what looked like some bizarre digital tablet, spoke into it and it started playing back sounds. The tablet ran through several different languages, some that I recognized, but many which i did not. After a long minute the tablet spoke in English; "I think I am lost. I do not recognize anything around me. Can you help me find out where I am?" To be continued....

Hey Cynth make sure you put blue materias in a linked slot (you can see a little bar between two slots on some weapons/armors) otherwise it does nothing! If you put it correctly and pair it with a compatible materia you should see a halo around them.

Love the production with your thoughts and comments. I hope you will post the remainder of the DLC for remake! I know a lot of people have mentioned crisis core and OG, but after you get done with playing rebirth. It might worth playing both. Both of stories do give away some lore and story content that has not been covered yet. I would argue that the benefits outweigh the unseen story content.

No hate or anything I just don't understand the thumbnail and the title, why would someone who never played the OG be suprised that zack is alive? Especially in part one haha remake made it very clear that he did survive for the remake project up to the part you played (!I don't talk about anything that happens later to avoid spoiler!)
