Hey guys, this topic has been on my mind for a long time so I hope you found it interesting. These videos take about 40/45 hours to make each and as much as I enjoy making them at this current stage from a financial point this channel is quite unstable. I want to eventually move out of my parents house and have some independence but I certainly will not be able to do that in the next few years based on how unreliable my income is however if you want to help me make a living with this content, would like to see all of these videos a week early and get credited in the description and also add to my super secret pringles fund then please consider supporting me on patreon. The fantastic thing about patreon is its a very stable and reliable source of income, with adverts the income changes all the time but patreon is always steady and gives me a lot of peace of mind so if you want to support me I would hugely appreciate it if you sent just a few dollars of spare change my way as when people do that in large quantities and makes a huge difference, and also allows for me to buy more pringles. The link is in the description. Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed the video and have a great day, - Henry

Mate, unless Marvel becomes an SJW shithole like its comic department, DC will never beat Marvel. They already wasted their trump card, The Justice League. However I am excited for Aquaman because even if they never beat marvel, they could still make great movies. BTW what about the monsterverse?

Since Star Wars exists in the marvel universe
@timothymclean

It definitely helps that Marvel wasn't trying to make a "cinematic universe" as we now understand it; the concept didn't really exist before they made theirs. They were trying to make a bunch of good films that took place in the same universe, with somewhat overlapping stories including some crossovers. To even _get the idea greenlit,_ they had to figure out how to weave them together without bogging down the individual movies. They had to figure out all the little details and map out a careful long-term plan; these days, it seems like you can increase your chances of getting a project greenlit if you just point out the possibility of it being the next MCU, even if the rest of your film is meh at best.
@timothymclean
@timothymclean 5 лет назад
Also, I'd like to mention that Marvel's after-credits scenes are a brilliant idea. It's a way to add worldbuilding, to weave the worlds of the films together, without disrupting the narrative of the film. It's like adding a teaser for the next book after each book's epilogue.

Meanwhile, the universal movie monsters from the 30s existed and gave us Frankenstein vs. The wolfman. But sure, marvel is the first to do anything, despite universal doing this nearly 80 years before.
@callumdoherty1882
@callumdoherty1882 5 лет назад
@@wesleysobik9137 I don't know much about that but one crossover film probably doesn't count as a cinematic universe as we see it today. For example there are several alien movies, there are several predator movies, there are several alien vs predator movies, but we dont describe them as a cinematic universe. To have a long series of films like Marvels from which you weave together an overreaching plot is a bit more sophisticated than one Frankenstein werewolf crossover. So really it doesn't sound like universal did a full blown cinematic universe, perhaps a kind of prototype CU
@wesleysobik9137
@wesleysobik9137 5 лет назад
@@callumdoherty1882 it wasn't just one crossover film, there's been several and while I understand what you're saying, it's a bit hyperbolic to say marvel is the only one that's done it right
@callumdoherty1882
@callumdoherty1882 5 лет назад
@@wesleysobik9137 I was interested so I briefly looked it up and my bad there are multiple crossover films so you're right on there. I was mainly focusing on how although crossover films like universal did are nothing new, to connect them intrinsically with each other through subtle (or in cases other than Marvel, not so subtle) pointers and after credits scenes whilst following and developing the characters is a pretty original idea, mostly I guess because there wasn't the money to pull such a thing off before. I get though that the whole having related characters meet in recurring films was probably Universal originally

Basically, Marvel did their due diligence and put in the work to set up their cinematic universe in an organic and honest way. They took a risk, and it paid off. Now everyone else wants to cash in on Marvel’s innovation, but they can’t spend the time to set it up organically because everyone wants to see the team up movies. So they cram the universe building into like 1-2 movies, which is just not feasible.

Only ten years ago it would have been a laughable idea that a movie like Infinity War could even get greenlit, nevermind making the absolute boatloads of money it did rake in. Consider how unbelievably busy that film is. It jumps from place to place, character to character, featuring a dizzying array of flashy powers with almost zero time given to explanation, in almost exactly the same way that these other failed cinematic-universe-starters do... and yet it was one of the most successful movies ever made. Think about that. Imagine it being your first Marvel movie, and how confusing that would be, and you can start to see just how insane it is that a movie like that actually worked. You're exactly right about WHY it worked, though. Marvel introduces the vast majority of its characters through character-focused standalone films. The plots are usually simple. The high concept and themes are clear and relatable. Iron Man is a rich weapons manufacturer who has a literal change of heart when he learns what it's like to be a victim. Captain America is a paragon of old fashioned virtue in a world that's gone shades of gray. Thor is a proud rebellious prince from a Shakespearean-style fantasy world who needed a lesson in humility. These films are all entirely about telling you who these core characters are and why you should care about them. Notice that these characters, with super strong narrative foundations, have remained the core of the MCU going forward. Marvel's early films are traditional filmmaking through and through. The smartest thing they did was to pace themselves with small, incremental risks. Each risk paid off and built more hype. And now look where we are.
@Sorain1
@Sorain1 5 лет назад
Yeah. That's the trick to it, the point of making a cinematic universe is that you essentially get a set of stand alone films, this allowing you to do such a MASSIVELY packed film with basically no exposition about 90% of it's characters, concepts and setting. Because you already covered all that in other films. They are basically applying massive length to allow them to decompress and thus avoid having to do exposition that would bog down the film.
@CLCSIfreak

Exactly! I’ve always felt the DCEU wanted the rewards without doing the work. Justice League was what, it’s 3rd film? It introduced major players, hoping people would be familiar enough with them from comics and not taking the time get to know them on screen. MCU didn’t do a (major) team up until the 6th film, and all the major heroes had already been shown (even if Hawkeye wasn’t on screen for long) before then. Marvel’s willingness to show us the characters before teaming them up allowed them to break the rules later (black panther and Spider-Man introduced in civil war) and still be successful because the film was enjoyable and those charters added to the story (not just being promises of more). Honestly, I’m not sure if Marvel could have sustained the hype if there hadn’t been the long(er than anticipated) gap between phases 3 and 4, because while I’ve enjoyed phase 4, it’s hard to shift back to a smaller scale after all that interconnectivity (a bit of the opposite problem-how can a stand-alone be good when there’s all these other heroes who could be helping but are somehow just, not).

This is super late but I must say I think you may have been right in the beginning of Marvels Cinematic venture. Iron man was actually solid and showed a flaw character with growth. As time went on and the Avengers movie came out, I do feel the spectacle of the crossover became too reliable of a money maker and the characters and narratives suffered for it. Ive always felt the MCU has always desired to appear deep and emotionally impactful while refusing to put in the effort to earn those adjectives.

There are tons of reasons why Marvel has succeeded where the others have failed, so many that could probably discuss them for hours and still not cover all of them. But one thing is core and tends to get overlooked somewhat: CASTING. It was in Phase 1 where Marvel struggled most, not surprisingly, as it wasn't clear if there'd be in the interest in these characters, much less the movies which depended upon people being willing to shell out to see these characters in action. But, Norton Hulk being a bit of an anomaly here, Marvel got the casting right, not just for the films, but the promotion of the films. Basically, Marvel nailed it with securing Downey, Hemsworth, Evans and Hiddleston (and Sam Jackson, too). Then, surround them with somewhat surprising, "really-he's-in-this?!?" actors like Jeff Bridges, Anthony Hopkins and Tommy Lee Jones, and suddenly your films are working with a more secure popular foundation. I call this *The Guinness Principle.* People tend to forget now, but one of the reasons people went to see Star Wars back in 77 was that there was this sci-fi film coming out that looked weird and wild and insane... but it's got Sir Alec Guinness in it!?!? One of the most respected actors of his era (and all-time, in fact)?!?!?!? "I didn't think he did this sort of stuff" and all of that. Suddenly, the popular audience is much wider, less skewed to a few target groups, people begin looking at the film oddity very differently. As Marvel did all of its early world-building, it got the leads right and kept meeting the Guinness Principle. Part of this was Marvel being willing to pay out for big names, but also coming up with scripts that those names would be genuinely interested in (and, thus, consider taking a significant career risk). So, Marvel did the work and got the money to get their Guinnesses for each early film: Bridges, Jones, Hopkins, Tilda Swinton, Michael Douglas, Kurt Russell, Glenn Close and so forth. Even getting Stallone falls into this. Remember how excited people were that Robert Redford, of all people, was actually doing a Marvel movie, and a conspiracy-thriller no less? Remember how excited people were that Michael Keaton was going to play The Vulture, or even that Marisa Tomei would be playing a significantly de-aged Aunt May? Marvel is *still* doing this: bring in Cate Blanchett and Jeff Goldblum for Ragnarok; bring in Angela Basset and Forrest Whittaker for Black Panther; bring in Michelle frickin' Pfeiffer for Ant-Man and the Wasp. Hell, let's have Oscar-winner and movie icon William Hurt come right back in the mix for cameos. Only in a Marvel movie could you possibly have William Hurt appear, literally, 30th in the billing, as he does in Infinity War. That's the Guinness Principle etched deep into the Marvel universe building for each film. And that's just one element at work in Marvel. When the DCEU has tried it, it just hasn't worked. Jeremy Irons as Alfred? Ugh. Too obvious. Russell Crowe? He's no Brando in terms of surprising or exciting people. And on and on.

Reading your comment reminded me of this little video i watched on Star Wars you tube page where Kevin Feige talks about the first ten years of Marvel Cinematic universe and how he took lot of ideas including the tag line " The First Ten Years" from being a life long fan of Star Wars movies. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QF_EXwAbD98.html And there he talks about first iron man movie. And you can see it in his words and his facial expressions about how passionate he was about that single movie project. "It was the first film we got to do ourselves ( first marvel studios movie). We weren't supremely confident. We had beliefs we had ideas how we could bring tony stark to life and believed that marketing name was the character and over the years the actors themselves have become marketing names because RDJ,Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evens, Scarlett have all become mega stars, but at the time we really believed let's find the best actors for the parts, not dissimilar from a little movie 40 years ago (Star Wars) that found grate new actors who became icons and stars" There's lot in his words for other studios that are struggling to launch their Cinematic universes to learn. Specially, the casting is important. And don't go after big name actors to be your marketing names for iconic character. Try to get someone that make that character his\her own and an icon. He also said " What we try to emulate in the movies is if you go to see a MCU movie in the opening weekend it's our job make sure you have a great time, if you go to see it a second time our job is to make sure there's more there , third fourth fifth time still more there. Even the deeper you go there are things to reward you. And i learned that directly from Star Wars" " We have a core group of producer teams. We've been together almost ten years and it's a little internal group for various reasons we call the parliament . It is to keep track of the consistency and overall tone of the movies. "

To my mind, Marvel took their time to build their characters. Single movies eventually coming together in an explosive ensemble of characters and great Cinematic set pieces. DC and the other universes gave us some single movies and then everything at once which doesn't work at all. Take Justice League. We know nothing about Flash or Aquaman or Cyborg(except from the comics). We don't know their motivations and they tried to cram all of that into a single movie. Plus they gave us a shitty villain in my opinion. I could go on and on about how mediocre Steppenwolf is. In the comics he's a great character but here, well they really botched that one. Don't get me started on the Mummy. They gave us nothing at all about the characters and the world they were building beforehand and tried to cram all that into a single movie. I believe that to create characters with them it takes time. Time to flesh them out and these universes don't get that.

I think it's rather the idea that they are copying a formula, which doesn't work somewhere else. Cinematic universes are not in abundance, but rather in a shoestring. While Snyder wanted to make the movies that were his directorial vision, the other studios want to keep those ips and earn money at the same time, which is the reason why many studios fail to capture the goldfish. In short, they are creating products, not movies.

That's why Wonder Woman stands out from the rest of the DCEU. Patty Jenkins truly had a passion for the source material and focused on just telling a good story rather than cramming in Easter eggs and references. Furthermore, she allowed to actors to have some input on their characters. For example, the boat scene was almost completely improvised by Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, thus creating genuine chemistry between their characters and helping the audience get more invested in their arcs. In short, Patty Jenkins did it right, and I am genuinely looking forward to seeing what she does with Wonder Woman 1984.

You never mentioned the MonsterVerse. The giant monster film series being made by Legendary Pictures. It only has two films (Godzilla 2014, Kong: Skull Island), but the first one was like Iron Man: it was self-contained. Skull Island expanded on it and did some world-building, but it didn’t hype another film until after the credits. Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be the third film in the series next year and culminate with a crossover in 2020 (Godzilla vs. Kong). I’d say they’re doing all right compared to Marvel.

Cinematic universes are another great way to tell a long story without making it cheesy. The idea is great, but like you said, they are often poorly executed. Certain stories are too long and complex to show in a 2 hour movie, and I feel like another way for that story to be told in it’s entirety (without skipping stuff) is to make a cinematic universe. Sure, many studios out there fail doing it, because they care more about money than story.
@scalpingsnake

Why have they failed? My opinion (before I hear your's) they failed because of why they are doing it, to copy Marvel. They have realised the potential of cinematic universes and decided to do it themselves whilst forgetting the fundamental reason why it worked so well for Marvel... time. Marvel have had years to allow us to get accustomed to the characters such as their traits, personality, what they are good at and what they are bad at etc whereas DC for example jumped in far too quick and didn't give time to allow us to understand each character and sympathise with them.

Exactly, they made us love the characters first, so that we were genuinely excited to see them together/how they'll bounce off eachother. They understand that it wasn't just about seeing GOTG meeting Iron Man and Thor etc, we were also hugely excited to see the dynamic between Chris Pratt, RDJ and Chris Hemsworth in their roles. Various superheroes being thrown into a movie together doesn't mean much if we've got no attachment their on-screen incarnations - particularly for those of us who aren't huge comic book fans and only have a passing pop culture knowledge of the characters. For example many people, myself included, had never heard of the GOTG before their film, and we now have far more of an attachment to them than we do to the likes of Superman and WW who had far more name recognition beforehand.

Ah, but there is another cinematic universe that stands up beside Marvel in terms of quality: the MonsterVerse. Despite only having two released films thus far with two more on the way, this cinematic universe has been following the template you describe as the "right" war to it. GODZILLA 2014 is a 100% standalone film from start to finish. It has a major secret organization in the form of Monarch, but this is seamlessly incorporated into the plot as SHIELD was in the first Iron Man film. KONG: SKULL ISLAND is also a standalone film, containing only a few hints at the larger world beyond its confines, and saves its major world building moment - the confirmation that Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah also exist in this universe - for the post-credits stinger. The upcoming GODZILLA, KING OF THE MONSTERS 2019 has yet to be released, but director Michael Dougherty has assured us that sequel buildup will not be emphasized to the point of distraction. His exact terminology refers to it as "breadcrumbs". I can only assume you haven't seen the MonsterVerse films, and this is why you did not include them as examples. Rest assured, though, it is thus far a fine example of a cinematic universe done right.

I mean in the Godzilla community Godzila: King of the Monsters was just going to pander to fans by being a remake of Ghidorah: The Three-Headed Monster until the trailer came out, when the public and fans saw that it might actually be something more and that this Monsterverse thing might be something worth putting time and money into.

After so many years of bad adaptations it felt like finally, we're "telling the story" of the character, as if it was the actual physical comics come to life, only adapted to the times. I think where DC is failing is that they feel like they're all new/different takes on the books but the audience just wants the actual books come to life.

Every movie has a purpose in the story, and add to the characters involved. That’s why I personally believe Thor the dark world failed, because the movie was solely made to progress to infinity war. If the reality stone was able to be placed in a different movie then maybe it could’ve work, but even then marvel was able to clean up the disaster and bring something amazing out of it.

You realize these studios have made movies before, right? Let's straighten one thing out here: EVERY movie is made with the SOLE intention of making money. Don't pretend the creatives at Marvel Studios do this for free. EVERY studio understands how to make a good film, they've already done it. Some movies just don't land. In fact, MOST movies don't land. What the MCU has done is truly brilliant, taking the same template and applying it to all of their movies so that even one of middling quality has the familiarity of its superiors.

You generally made some good points. There's one thing that everyone needs to remember though is the difference between a film series and a 'cinematic universe'. Film series are just that, they are a series of films that usually concern the same characters going on different adventures (or just stories). A cinematic universe as defined by the MCU are several different films with their own characters usually written by and directed by different people (obviously there's some overlap here). In other words Thor was not a sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger which was not a sequel to Iron Man. These are 3 different movies, that tend to happen in the same universe, and thus got their name 'cinematic universe'. The Mission Impossible film series was NOT a cinematic universe. They were a series of films centered around a specific character related to the same story line. Star Wars isn't technically a cinematic universe. It's a series of films set in a single universe but usually along the same story line created generally by the same people concerning the same characters, etc. Of course you can go out in the weeds and call them all franchises, which are generally stories developed in different kinds of media. For instance the Mission Impossible franchise included the original television show, the sequel series in the 80's and the movies. The Star Wars franchise encompasses movies, novels, tv shows, video games, etc. One more thing to note is the reason it was called the Marvel Cinematic Universe was to differentiate it from the Comic book universe. Generally the MCU can get away with doing the characters from the comics their own way. So maybe Iron Man's origin story can be done different in the MCU than the comics. Comics have a history of constantly rewriting their characters and stories and alternate timelines and universes. So basically the MCU is the universe all the disparate films from the Marvel franchise operate in. Verses the comic book universes.

Marvel then, years later, start combining them for real in a meaningful way. I think a lotnof the other companies dont give it as much time as Marvel did because the cinematic universe is ”hot” right now, they dont wait until all the characters are given their quality time with the viewer and therefore there’s no connectionand no interest in watching more because the relationship with the characters feel rushed and fake. JUSTIN LEWIS All in all the MCU has made about 20 movies, and honestly the only ones that are true garbage fires are Iron Man 2, Thor, Thor The Dark World and Age of Ultron. Other than those four, their line up of movies are pretty consistent in terms of quality, they are amazingly well made films considering the quantity and the fact that yes, pretty much every film is trying to set the next team up film.

MeddlingMarmot Yeah, but that's the problem, for every good movie, there are at least 2 that are average and 1 that is bad. Marvel can pump good movies all they want, it won't change the fact the MCU is filled with mediocre movies and that is what keeps them at the top of their business since apparently people will pay lots of money for anything related to the MCU.

I actually quite like the Kaiju cinematic universe (i.e Godzilla, Kong skull island, and Godzilla 2) because all the connections aren’t in your face and are more subtle. Plus the movies are pretty entertaining by themselves

i feel like big studios manufacture movies in a boardroom, which is not what art should be about in my opinion. they have a formula that works financially (most of the time) and quality-wise (most of the time), and they also have the budget to make sure their movies never look or sound bad. i will always give them credit for the visual and sound effects side of things. and in terms of writing i think most of the films are good ( like gotg, avengers, captain america, iron man, man of steel etc.) but i always know what to expect when i go to watch one of those in the theatre. they have the resources, the characters (already popular and fleshed out because of past movies or comics), the actors and the money to make the best movies of our time( but never even end up in the conversation), so good is not good enough. i just want them to do more, to be more.

Good video and all but why does nobody mentioned the new Godzilla Universe when talking about the subject? The last Godzilla was a good movie and Kong Skull Island was fucking great and I wasn't aware it was a Cinematic Universe until the end of Skull Island so it takes most of the boxes you mentioned

I think the best way to link to the universe is giving hints in the background. So it's nearly invisible when you watch the movie the first time, but the second time you watch it, everything makes sense and you always find new pieces of the whole puzzle.

@Gasper Vidovic Not necessarily, though that's part of it... my issues with the film stem more from the insane mistake of them killing off Cranston character after the first act and replacing him with a boring cardboard cutout soldier guy as the ''protagonist'' for the rest of the movie... Honestly the film dies with Cranston's character for me I'll give the movie credit though, the cinematography and build up is excellent in it, but it feels jarring to watch... Cranston steals the show in the first act and it's genuinely exhilarating to watch! , then the movie grinds to a halt when he dies and never really recovers. The teasing and cutting away from the monster action was very over done and didn't help either... It almost felt like the movie was embarrassed that It had to show the monsters, instead focusing on Ford Brody, don't get me wrong, I love ''Character driven'' monster movies, but if you're going to cut away from the monster action you damn well better have some good characters to focus on instead that's why movies like Alien and Jaws worked and this one didn't... My issue with Godzilla not being in the movie much has almost nothing to do with how much screen time he actually got, but more to do with how little ''presence'' he has when he's off screen.. most Godzilla movies don't give Godzilla a lot of screen time, but they do talk about him a lot when he's off screen, and his actions and existence shape a lot of the plot and character motivations ect and he feels present during the entirity of the movie due to that (some of the best examples of this are the original 1954 film and Shin Godzilla).. that's not the case with 2014 though, Godzilla feels side lined in his own movie... the Mutos have a far stronger presence though out the film and so dose blandy McGeee soldier guy sadly... and while this wouldn't be that big an issue in most Godzilla movies (lots of great Godzilla movies focus on other monsters and characters ect...), for a big budget modern movie introducing this character to a whole new generation of fans in the western world, it's kinda a big miss on the movies part... I could go on and on with other little things that I wasn't a fan of, like aspects of Godzillas design, the super hard to see dark and smoggy fight scenes, the ed-saturated colour pallet of the film ect... but that covers my main issues with the movie Anyway, while I do respect the film for what it did to launch so many modern kaiju movies in its wake, and some aspects of it are genuinely fantastic (the opening act, cinematography ect...) I can't watch this movie without feeling let down, It feels like a mess and I have strong mixed feelings about the film as a whole.

Only 4 cinematic (shared) universes are worth building - 1. The MCU 2. The DCEU 3. The MonsterVerse 4. The Dark Universe (Universal Monster's Universe) Others that just got made regardless (and we are better off for it) are the Tarantinoverse, the View Askewniverse and the new Shyamalaniverse which started with Unbreakable Also, I didn't know that Dark Tower was a cinematic universe. I thought it was just a book series

Cutman 009, the Kaiju-verse is the one that started with 2014's Godzilla and subsequently 2017's Kong: Skull Island and 2018's Godzilla: King of Monsters which will culminate in 2020's Godzilla vs. Kong
@AndroidCovenant

Dante, the term cinematic universe is generally synonymous with shared universe. In the case of Marvel and DC, multiple superheroes (different franchises) inhabit the same universe and interact with each other. That is not the case with the Transformers movies as they are collectively one franchise

Can I say, I think the arrow-verse nailed this too, as they mentioned cities like hub city and even gotham City, but these were never forced into it, they seem incredibly natural. The intro of barry Allen displays this perfectly as he was introduced as barry Allen first, before he was the flash, to see if the reception was good. This also had the function of preventing it seeming like he was just crammed in.

Xmen verse is decent. Most of the movies are actually connected, if you take the time travel reboot. I hope disney lets them do their thing with a main storyline and alternate versions again from now on. And apocalypse wasnt bad, but the universe recovered one, it can recover again. And arrowverse has cinematic quality but is a series universe. Through the arrowverse connection quality is superb. Legends is the best series.

1:40 Fun fact iron man didn't have a script all they had were ideas the iron man movie works because of all of the actors improv skills and the people behind the camera's ability to work with what they have and adapt making it a human superhero movie made from the ideas and acting of people treating their characters as human

This reminds me of something that dawned on me in a class when the first chapter of one of my books was being workshopped. I had this world where people barely left their city for cost and overpopulation. So, in the first chapter, I had this wedding taking place on a virtual beach. The TA put in his critique that he would like to see more about the virtual reality suites. Well, I had planned on writing a book later involving virtual settings. After that, I looked back at what I was writing, where that first book was going, and then where I had been workshopping that eventual story I’d write. I decided to make the virtual story a pseudo-sequel to my first book I’m writing. The thing is, and why I find your video connecting to this, I’m not changing the main chunks of the story of the book I’m writing to connect to my first book. The only mention so far of such a place is the wedding, and the virtual beach is still even different from the virtual setting I’d be using in my next story. Actually, that’s a lie, I added a line saying who owned the virtual beach, but it’s still not something that changes the story or even stands out as a hint for what comes next. So, what I have, I’m not changing to fit a story I won’t even begin fully brainstorming until I’m done, but on the side, the next story I write, I’ve been looking at how I can connect it to my first book. Even with that, if for some reason I can’t make it fully connect without hurting the story, I won’t even try. Another good example of connecting works (which this literally was just happened yesterday), is how Disenchantment connects to Futurama. In season 1, you see a magic orb that’s recorded things in the castle, and for two seconds, you see Farnsworth, Fry, and Bender in their time machine as they were trying to return to the future (or maybe past, it’s iffy). In season 2, we saw a futuristic city, and there, there’s one character that has all of the traits of the Farnsworth men, and the street he works on is called “Farnsworth St.” They’re just passing comments, and that’s what I’m aiming for if I connect my pieces.

2 notes: 1. Iron man Thor and Captain America are the best starter movies for a universe, because they DON'T overlap. I'm no complaining about why Thor didn't go and rescue Tony Stark, the weapons manufacturer presumed dead, or why neither of them helped Captain America who's in the past. those three allowed them to make good movies in the same universe without any issues that would result from the world having something bigger to deal with. That lack of overlapping saved these movies from being part of a series, where you need to see one to understand the other. This made all of those movies a great starting point. 2. The end credit scenes made Marvel. At least a bit. They allowed for scenes that helped build the story, like Tony getting invited to the Avengers, and Cap waking up from being frozen, without forcing those scenes into a movie. Avengers or Winter Soldier would be very different movies if the first scenes were Cap waking up and getting invited to the avengers. The End Credit scenes allowed Marvel to make those out of pace advertisements that you're talking about, without ruining the movie itself. At lest that's what I got.
