Madrassahs have flourished throughout Muslim lands for centuries teaching the sacred Islamic sciences and cultivating a cultural environment rooted in knowledge. The Nizamiyyah in Baghdad, al-Azhar in Cairo, and the Qarawiyyin in Fez produced some of the best and most outstanding scholars of our Ummah. As Muslims today seek to build communities on a traditional ethic of learning, we are forced to seriously consider the modern challenge of schooling and education. Should Muslims reach back in history for an educational model that worked then, or should they attempt to create a fertile synthesis between the traditional and modern methods of learning? In this five-part presentation, digitally recorded in stereo on four CDs, Shaykh Abdal-Hakim Murad takes the listener on a tour through the process of education, from the origin of knowledge - the teaching of the Names to Adam - to mankind's great "falls" and "reclamations" and finally to the Adamic ideal. Examining the underpinnings of modernity and by extension the Western social structure, the Shaykh unveils the achievements and the shortcomings of this educational model. The Shaykh establishes that today the only significant alternative to the Western educational model is the Islamic model. And by examining the Islamic model, one sees that education is the means by which Allah takes His servants from darkness to Light. In this series of talks, Dr. Murad expounds the concepts of wilayah (sainthood), nafs (worldly soul), the types of knowledge, and aspects of a curriculum taught in traditional madrassahs, as well as the role of the female scholar in the classical Islamic system. It is our belief that these talks will be of benefit to teachers, students, parents, home-schoolers, and non-Muslims interested in alternative forms of education. (Quoted from IHYA Productions)

Always an enlightening pleasure to listen to this man teach. I am baffled by the negative comments...but then again, in this blinded age, who could be surprised by such a thing? JazakAllah for all those involved in bringing this video forth to the public.

Given the profanity of English, untranslatable (<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="329">5:29</a>) that's a good statement for the people who think they can learn about Islam without learning Arabic language.
@MKTElM

Why do we place difficult tasks , like learning the Arabic language in the path of those whom Allah has chosen to lead to Islam ? Arabic will enrich and increase their immersion into Islam , but if the heart desires Allah and has come to know him , Allah will accept his devotions in whatever language .

In fact some traditional scholars of the past considered it prohibited to relate a Hadith without knowing the subject of the hadith (specially this one). Saying the Prophet(s) parents is in hell fire is major deviance, trust me.

@alithelin1234 You believe that the woman who gave birth to and nurtured the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is in hell fire? Do you really think that Allah would punish the Prophet's mother for no reason other than that she died before Islam? It says in the Qur'an that God will not wrong anyone, so how can he condemn a person for failing to accept a religion that wasn't available to that person? Please do not limit or circumscribe the Rahma (mercy) of Allah.

Our scholars have dealt with this issue extensively and they are in agreement that the Parents of the Prophet(s) is saved. Historically only few people said they are in hell fire and their opinion is rejected, in fact this position is not even respected by the majority of the Ulamas. It is only few modernist "Mujtahid" Salafis who bring this Hadith without knowing the subject of the Hadith extensively and say the Prophet(s) parents is in hell fire.

The prophets speech is part of revelation. Allah told us in the quran that the prophets speech is not from desire, so that means it's wahi and part of dhikr, since dhikr is anything that Allah revealed including the prophets speech, his actions however are not evidence unless he told us to follow a certain action he did.

Instead of changing the subject, do you agree that ulama means those who fear Allah not scholars in the shariah. That's what Allah said in sura fatir, the word for scholars that Allah uses is "لأحبار"and he uses it in a negative way for example in sura tauba

يا أيها الذين آمنوا إن كثيرا من الأحبار والرهبان ليأكلون أموال الناس بالباطل ويصدون عن سبيل الله O you who have believed, indeed many (katheer) of the scholars and the monks devour the wealth of people unjustly and avert from the way of Allaah

We do,nt play game like arab Scholars.Who speak against wahabis but do,nt give direct answers about matter of kufr when asked.We do,nt pray behind wahabis. And anybody after having information about wahabi beliefs call them muslim he is kafir like wahabis

What scholars said doesn't matter in Islam. Only wahi (ayahs and authentic hadeeths)
@alithelin1234
@alithelin1234 12 лет назад
Allah said in sura fatir that ulama are only those who fear allah, correct? so Ulama means anyone who fears allah, it doesn't mean scholars. How do you know who fears Allah? only Allah knows, to call people ulama is self praise, because only Allah knows who fears him. Ulama doesn't mean scholars in shariah, it's people who fear Allah.
@alithelin1234
@alithelin1234 12 лет назад
Allah himself said he will protect the dhikr the prophets speech is part of dhikr, so with or without scholars sahih hadeeth will be preserved till qiyama. We don't need tafseers of the quran because the quran is clear like Allah said, we take ayahs and hadeeth as they say on the apparent meaning. No one has the right to make interpretation on wahi, only Allah and rasoulallah can.
@alithelin1234
@alithelin1234 12 лет назад
It doesn't matter what scholars said, we don't follow scholars only what Allah said and the prophet said matters. The hadeeth says they are in hellfire, and scholars say they aren't lol... forget this scholar nonsense wahi matters. And I hope you aren't translating ulama as scholars because that's not what it means, Allah told us in sura fatir that ulama are those who fear Allah, so it's haram to label people as ulama because only Allah knows who fears him.

The sahaba never called themselves sunnis, or ahul sunnah, or any other of these hundreds of sects but only muslims. So that statement is false, sunnis, shias, and you quraniyoon are dividing the ummah and are all wrong with your unislamic beliefs. Sahih hadeeth are part of wahi because Allah commanded us to follow rasoulallah (s) speech, and Allah promised to protect the dhikr.

It was narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that his parents are in Hell. Muslim (203) narrated that a man said: “O Messenger of Allaah, where is my father?’ He said: “In Hell.” When the man turned away, he called him back and said: “My father and your father are in Hell.”

Not unlike what is presented with other ideologies (religions), the foundation of this man's teachings is erroneous. Allah simply does not exist. There isn't a human being on the face of this planet that can know with 100% confidence that any god whatsoever exists. That is a fact, from the absolute sense, and anyone who denies this is not being honest with himself/herself. The world's philosophies that involve a god(s) would be better served, if taken from the viewpoint of agnosticism. There are limits with how zealous one can be under subscription of an ideology (especially one that has a religious component, such as Islam); the extent to how well it holds in the ages depends on how well it can be defended by reason, and not by force. Under that ideal logical condition, Islam will one day be seen as a failed ideology, in a bygone era. Men must one day reach for the stars, after all, else it will be the end of mankind, and quite possibly the end of this planet.

Dan Johnson. It depends what type of certainty you're looking for. We Muslims are certain of our eventual destiny. Interestingly you said nothing is certain but then went on to say you were certain about what you believe!
@danjohnson8403
@danjohnson8403 7 лет назад
What is certain is that we don't know that god exists. If you say you are certain that one does, you are delusional, whether you accept that or not.

Astronomer Carl Sagan once said that "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence". The most logical position for any human being is that there simply is not extraordinary evidence to support the existence of a god, much less one that is described in stone age texts. I don't force my belief on anyone; however, I actively engage in the criticism of ideologies and belief systems that have no basis on fact and rational behavior.
@danjohnson8403
@danjohnson8403 7 лет назад
Khalid Wardak: The burden of proof is on the one who makes the extraordinary claim, which is, of course, the claim that a god exists (an even more extraordinary claim is that a god exists, and man somehow knows about this god). Personally, I am an agnostic, as I have to admit that no one knows for sure whether God exists or not. I see what appears to be the work of a designer, in the universe, but at the same time, have to admit, that neither I, nor anyone, knows for sure that the universe was designed. There is no extraordinary evidence to support the claim. As such, you nor anyone on the planet have any right to impart any action that intrudes upon my life, or others' lives, based on your faith. Earth's human civilization needs to come to grips with this so that we can move on and advance to the stars one day, as a species. Now, let me suggest that you listen to Harris, Dawkins, Hitchens, et. al. to perhaps provide a balance to the information that is influencing your thought processes. Let me close this response by asking you a question: Assuming that God exists, would you say that you know anything about him (assuming a patriarchal, mono-theistic god), and if so, on what basis or by what source(s)?
