One slight correction: “The Severing Son" is inspired by the Goths around the time of the Hunnic Invasion, and their subsequent own invasion of the Roman Empire. “TSS” was my 3th favorite book of 2022: As someone who really had an itch for stories set in/inspired by the Migration Period ("Finn & Hengest" by JRR Tolkien and "Sailing to Sarantium" by Guy Gavriel Kay was my nr. 2 and 1) and who really loved the Rohirrim in “Two Towers”, I simply loved how Roycroft has done his take on the same source material on Gothic culture that the inspired The Professor : The 6th Century Text "Getica" by Jordanes, the Icelandic Saga of "Hervör and Heidrek"/"King Heidrek the Wise" (Roycroft mentioned my fellow Norwegian Countryman Peter Nicolai Arbo's paintings of the Saga as an direct inspiration and I can recommend Christopher Tolkien's translation of "Heidrek" available for free online, a real gem!), William Morris' "The House of the Wolfings" (which the names of the Gottari Tribes made me suspect!) and, of course, Richard Wagner’s «Ring Cycle» (who tends to stick his nose up (for better and for worse) directly or indirectly whenever Norse Gods, Shield Maidens, Smithing Mighty Swords, Ragnarok (und so weiter!) shows up in modern media!)

Really liked Deathless Beast. I think you'll like it. The exploration of religion was really interesting and the political intrigue was very teasing

I listened to the Gates of Fire, there is only one narrator. The first half of the book is a peek into the psyche of the spartan warrior. From his childhood to the big battle. It is a very memorable book!

The Purple Prince gets my vote in terms of prioritising!

Oh my goodness, that was delightful 😂 I didn't know I need dramatically entertaining hauls, but here I am. All these books intrigue me for sure! Fun fact: I read Symposium and Gorgias by Plato almost back to back. Loved Gorgias (it was brilliant actually), but Symposium man! That was intellectual masturbation at its finest. Will I still read the rest of his works? Oh yeah. 😂 Now I wonder if you have any favourite Greek or Roman philosophers? My husband and I found Diogenes absolutely hilarious. 👌
