When the COVID pandemic threatened Hayat Ali's job, she looked for a way to bring connection back to her community through coffee and food. She opened Alif Brew & Mini Mart in 2020 and held a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony every weekend. Years later, she continues to host these ceremonies on occasion.
