grand to see a ethopia ironically at its height uniting east africa agasint the forces of hell. though i do wonder whos serving as the main anti hell forces on the west african coast? spain perhaps or morrocco taking up the name of andalusia?
@@derpyduck5207 Unsure. Gibraltar is currently under Heretic control, but I'd honestly like a Moore/Christian alliance, if not a non-aggression pact since they are both firmly against Hell more than they are each other.
@@lordhelwintr283 because if Africa is unified, rather than dozens of countries and tribes killing each other, plus decent medical services and government subsided mass farming rather than constant sickness and famine, Africa would be able to support a population bigger than Russia and China combined. Even without heavy industries, an African Empire or Alliance could bury its enemies under army sized waves of infantry and cavalry.
@@scannerbarkly its a actual thing in the bible when jesus returns he will do so as the "militant christ" or "warrior christ" for he will lead the battle agasint hell.
I think the writers got the idea from the fact that there IS a real title atributed to Christ which is the Lion of Judah, it's a really cool way of taking a real life concept and implementing it into the universe in a way that makes perfect sense
@@scannerbarkly, I imagine the 40K reference to the Trench Crusade, but some aren't similar like, How can the Trinity or Allah exist at the same time?, there must be one of them is real, right?. About the 40K reference, I imagine Jesus is similar to the role of the Emperor, he needed to unite the nations and when he dies, he left some of his DNA to the shroud, similar to the Emperor when he tells his followers to make Space Marines from his DNA, but his followers didn't get any advice and just clone it for good, the Meta Christ is the Space Marines in the Trench Crusade, they are similar to blanks which look like didn't had a Soul. What if you make a lore about a Meta Christ who became a General or Commander and give him a name and the people considered him as a hero(similar to the Imperials react to the Space Marines in 40K even they know the Space Marines has the Emperor genetics) and he is loyal to his soul and goes to the Muslim faction to convert them to his side and the Sultanate faction just "No, you stupid Demon Kufar" and they get to War, I think the Lore will be awesome especially the Heretics will just gain superiority because both faction kick each other assess.
I love how they are making A faction for every nation on earth. Not just fixating on Europe how they usually do albeit Europe is the most interesting area.
So the hell fleets also control the Red Sea, this means that they can come and go to the indian ocean as they please. Unless of course, someone keeps the gulf of Aden shut. Learning about the other frontlines to the north and east will be very interesting.
Erythraean Sea is actually an old name for the Gulf of Aden, so if anyone keeps it shut it's the heretic fleets, given they control it too. The forces of the Faithful have their work cut out for them no matter where, it seems.
I love 40k but the scale and scope of the technology can make the desperation seem far away. This is like hell at your front door and it shows in every piece of art and lore.
I'm a huge 40k fan, but all the lore of trench Crusade so far really makes if feel more like it's a desperate last stand against hell, where 40k always claims that but it rarely feels like it is.
@@mojotheaveragewell the old stuff is victory through sacrifice mostly but since the primaris have come around I don’t see to many Pyrrhic victories so much
I've been to Ethiopia before irl and it's such a beautiful place! All the people are so kind and they have an amazing culture! And it has such a rich history as a Christian kingdom. If I didn't melt in temps above 101 degrees I'd love to visit and or live there. 10/10 spot! Would go visit again!
Ok so... If Ethiopia is not only still around but the preeminent power in Eastern Africa, that probably means that the Ethiopian Jews are not only still around, but are probably thriving. The Jewish Kingdom of Semien was at the height of its power when the portal was opened by the Templars in Jerusalem, so the need to unite against a common foe across religious divides might have meant they became a fully integrated part of the empire. I'm sure I read somewhere that the creators have hinted that the Jewish people are still around in the setting and are part of the fight against the demons, but not much else.
They are definitely around. The timeline in the rulebook speaks of an organized group of Hebrew knights who operate from a secret stronghold somewhere in the Levant.
Mammon wants to conquer Africa. Haha, that's a cheeky little reference if there ever was such a thing. 😂 Love it. Also nice to see continental African military groups in a way that makes sense and isn't just forced random tribal stuff.
Whenever they do this it’s always Zulu themed. Some weirdo earlier commented that Ethiopia didn’t have metallurgy and wasn’t able to decorate shields before Europeans arrived. It’s always people that aren’t too smart that attribute all of Africa’s history to the zulus and ignore the literal museums full of Ethiopian medieval age artifacts such as ornate shields, swords, jewelry and other products of metallurgy.
@@Keddeadkedemption It was adopted as "Ethiopia" in 400 AD by King Kaleb because foreigners have referred to the region as Ethiopia and the nation was always referred to as either the ethnic group that ruled or Aksum
@@scannerbarkly, I think if you made an Nephilims faction, I expected the Lion of Jabil will join the ranks of they're brethren, the Nephilim, a species that was not composed only by Giants, but some Hybrids and Homunculis. If the Lion of Jabil joined, I expected the Sultanate faction will banned the production of the Lion of Jabil and this will be became the first recorded Tech heresy in the Trench Crusade lore and they will kill them, considered them as mutants and has connect to the forces of Hell, the Lion of Jabil was now sided in the force of Hell and from the secret knowledge they gain from they're masters, I think the Nephilims Faction will act as Tyranids but in a different way. I expected the Meta Christ will make chapter and role similar to the Space Marines of the Warhammer 40k.
Wait... This is new lore! I need to check the new stuff, this is so cool! Also, there's a band that could help me work on this faction while I paint, Arka'n Asrafokor.
In the in my speculation, I think the Trench Crusade lore will had Nephilims but the leader is Azazel, I The Lion of Jabil will be nice to join to the ranks of they're ancient brethren, the Nephilim because the Nephilims are just Giants, they are hybrids and Homunculus. In the Iron Wall, the Sultanate was shock to see some Giants, animals hybrid of abominations, the leader of the hybrid enter in the minds of the Lion of Jabil and tell them they are abominations against God and they must fight the God that try to kill them, the Nephilim Leader tell to the Lion of Jabil about theyre ancient history and the Lion of Jabil joined in the ranks of the Damned, they go to the alchemist to teach them the secret of magic because they want to know it, the alchemist get suspesion that the Homunculi they made gain to much intelligent but they didn't care, except they get proud that they're creation gain intelligence and the alchemist shares the secret knowledge and from this, they secretly share it to the Forces of Hell and the force of Hell is prepared to destroy the Sultanate, they ammased they're armies and the servants of Allah defended the Iron Wall but theyre attack are useless again the forces of the Damned, and they are losing, but in they're faith, they win but some part of the wall was captured by the force of Shaitan and they realize that Azazel control the Lion of Jabil and they murdered these Homunculi but many of them escape from they're Doomed and totally intergrated to the Ranks known as the "Sons of the Watchers".
Ethiopian Empire is pretty much the Draka empire without the plot armor. I like to know more what happen to Persia, India, China, Korea, Japan, Sibirean Russia and the American continent.
I imagine they are keeping those elements vague so that the Abrahamic lore can take center-stage without explicitly undermining those belief systems. What would *not* surprise me is if a Buddhist monk or something joins the mercenary list
I'd like it if their religion was more moderate and less totalitarian than the European interpretation of Christianism is this universe. It'd fit better with their noble warrior asthetic and would make sense since they are far away from Europe.
No it wouldn’t lmao. Why on earth would anyone be a moderate when the literal forces of hell bearing down on you. And there’s no “european” interpretation thats just what reality is
Whoa so if the anti-Hell factions are gonna be sort of nation/regional based Earth armies, I guess the Hell factions would be sin-based? We have the Black Grail being Beelzebub (Gluttony), now I'm curious about the Greed faction. (Also love how these Greed heretic forces are essentially like colonists plundering for riches)
I was seriously curious about non european/middle eastern factions in trench crusade, so now that i know they exist, im dying for a look at the world map!
Makes sense Mamon would go after Africa since he’s the sin of greed. I wonder if Germany will confront with machinery might while Russia will use heavy infantry. I also wonder if even the legion of the underworld could push through the tundra of Russia. I wonder also how Asia will react to hells incursion.
i've been unable to chew on any more lore for days, and have been making my own head cannon Buddhist Monk faction in the Himalayas just to tide me over its awesome to see more about other places of the world, how other people are dealing with the invasion
I follow trench crusade and your channel since few days and I'm allready so in love with this setting. Every bit of lore is so epic and well thought. This game and World has so much potential
Now part of me wonder if Solomon ancestry and Prestor John would be referenced as a nod to their national epic and most ambassadors try to claim as “Preston John’s envoys” to curry favor with Christian kingdoms (either true in their universe, “fabricated”, or ambiguous… like being post apocalyptic and magic meant that second might be true due to archives being destroyed but tales surviving meant that everyone thought they are true. Or like misinterpreted as well. Maybe if “believing so much that it became true” magic exists).
Based on the discord it seems that there has been zero to non large scale effort to colonize the Americas on the account that everyone has been too busy fighting hell. So factions will be predominantly native American.
@@Alexander-tu3ivHell captured Gibraltar and it was emphasized they access to the Atlantic. If humans haven’t colonized the Americas then there’s a good chance the heretics and demons converted the natives or colonized it
@@SeanMaguire02It probably covers the eastern half of Anatolia, Baghdad and most of Iraq but not big enough to cover Iran and the rest of Arabia. Nothing official though
@scannerbarkly I thought since it was an alternate universe, they would remain Muslim since I think they didn't get their land stolen in exchange for Christianity.
@@elliotyourarobot Pretty sure Ethiopia converted to Christianity in the 4th century AD, largely for trade and cultural unification. They'd have been Christian for a few centuries by the time the Gates of Hell opened.
@@scannerbarkly edit: Africans without the intervention of European technologies wouldn't've been able to smith gear that ornate. Only in the setting of trench crusade would this make sense because of rule of cool logic. So yeah in TC it might make a little bit of sense but when looking at real world history it just doesn't fit. Additionally, metallurgy in Ethiopia had not developed enough at any point in irl history before colonization to produce anything that looks like this art.
