I knew a decent amount about Jenna Marbles, but never watched her so I didn't think too much when she was relevant. Then this video and its last several minutes struck me well, with the final line being one of the most mature endings I could ever hope to hear about someone. Joon the King, the wait was worth it.

Jenna is still and will always be my favorite RU-vidr. I watched her since middle school when she first uploaded, and as much as I wish she'd come back, I'm glad she's doing better, she's getting the help she needed, and that she's living her best life, Jenna style.

people were congratulating her the first days after she posted the video. they thought it was fair she left her channel. i agree she is entitled to make any decision on her youtube channel and her life, but people pushed this and things were delicate at the time in youtube specially. she didn't have to leave. she made a mistake but she did not purposefully hurt someone else like most youtubers who still make content have.

I don't think young viewers get what the start of RU-vid was. How niche and abstract it was for years... let alone understand how the world was at the time. I'm pretty sure there are viewers who think RU-vid was a Google creation. I think digging up creators pasts has set a scary new precedent. People are no longer alowed to make mistakes.

I'm a dinosaur, so I started watching Jenna when she was still with Max. Because of that parasocial relationship from watching her so long, I can't help but miss her vidoes. But at the same time, I'm super happy for her. She worked her butt off for years to entertain others consistently. She's human; and people grow, change, find new interests and ways of life. She isn't a dancing monkey for our spectacle, and deserves to do what makes her happy and best suits her lifestyle.

Hence, why nowadays cancel culture has become a norm of no successful redemption arc ceased to exist if for one did something horridly beyond 2-5 years ago. What’s important to remember tho, is that are you the person who the apology is for? If you’re not black, you’re not the one to accept her blackface apology. If you’re not trans, you’re not the one to accept the ‘what boy/girls do’ apology. If you’re not a woman, you can’t accept her slut-shaming apology. Her & I are about the same age. I began watching her in 2010. It was a fun journey to watch her change and mature over the years, slowly but surely. And at the same time, she grew to be one of my role models as I found myself also growing and maturing in my own life. It just breaks my heart because all of us in our 20’s do and say some problematic things, but I felt guilty when I saw her final video because MY mistakes were on par with hers... but I, along with MOST people, have the benefit of not having our mistakes forever entombed on the Internet. It was like I was watching a friend cry and apologize for past behavior that I did right along with her while I get to sit in my private life with my quietly learned lessons... I just pray she’s striving and thriving. I’m happy that she’s finally making an attempt to find peace in privacy. I pray her and Julien have a full, long and beautiful life.

Thank you for putting into words the feelings I had when watching her last video. While it was incredibly commendable of Jenna for so bluntly taking responsibility, as someone who has also said or done dumb shit in my past with no repercussions, it was heartbreaking to watch. And between the people likening her to Shane Dawson and the fans that proclaiming she is infallible, the internet has destroyed its best example of 'growth for the better'. But as you said, even though it is sad that she isn't making content anymore, I am so happy that she no longer has to be subjected to the enormous pressure that her audience had place on her. I hope that fans can continue to be respectful of her privacy by not ambushing Julien with questions whenever he mentions her on stream or in videos.

There's always someone who's gonna be hurt by something; I feel so bad for Jenna who seems to have been torn apart by that pressure to be perfect. I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't come back to RU-vid, because the internet is so toxic today, and it seems like the only types who can thrive in the "Broadcasting Yourself" genera now are the people who are evil, or fake. Her leaving, it really hits as the end of one of the best eras of RU-vid: when RU-vid was "Broadcast Yourself" instead of 'Let's make money".

mainstream internet = advertisement boards. Influencers and role models. Everyone must be vetted to be sure they are as generic and brand friendly as possible with no possibility to offend anyone living as to not cause another apocalypse crusade. With this and the websites upping their terms of service it incentivizes the mob of no life losers to go after anyone who isn't falling in line. Everyone is a hall monitor and nothing is fun. You open youtube and the front page is clips from tv networks or some generic vlog channel whose newest upload is a barely disguised advertisement to a link in their bio.

The whole point of holding someone accountable for their actions is to get them to see the error in their ways, learn from them and go down the road of positive change. I'm so ashamed of how part of the internet treated Jenna because she had already held herself accountable and went down the road of positive change in her life. Whenever Julien was in one of her videos he was chaotic, you never knew what to expect except that he would fill Jenna with anxiety while simultaneously making her laugh. Like dancing with knifes lmao. His videos however show the calm side of him and crazy side of Jenna. There are videos out there with titles like "Jenna secretly being an Aries."

One thing that is notable, is Jenna seemingly never had major plastic surgery, fillers, etc. This seems trivial but as someone who has worked extensively in that industry I can tell you for certain 99% of influencers eventually edit their appearance in some way, and a lot of them lie about it- although both can harm self esteem and increase those unattainable beauty standards. Although filler/ surgery is your personal choice (I’ve had my fair share) it is truly honorable that she embraces her natural beauty and shows what kind of person she is on the inside.

Odd take. I'm sure Jenna would urge anyone to embrace and be kind to anybody no matter what kind of insecurities we have. Be it insecurities that, for me, induce crippling anxiety, or that lead someone to pursue plastic surgery. There are so many things about her that make her an amazing person, but not getting cosmetic surgery doesn't make one more than another.

I can say for a fact that I would not have done some of my procedures if I was surrounded by photos of women embracing their natural beauty. So yes, I do think it’s a good thing that someone as popular as her has done that. If you don’t agree that’s totally fine! I think we need more big influencers who are willing to embrace their natural beauty to help people like US not have those image issues and not think twice about our appearance. But that’s just my take! 😃

As a thirty something year old lady 🎶 Jenna made me feel seen. I also spend my free time exploring hobbies. Plants, animals, and crafts all day. Going to work 40 hrs a week and listening to my "peers" whom I have zero in common with prattle on about their boring weekends, I needed to be reminded that I'm not weird. I just like to LEISURE. I can't talk to these women about anything. Gardening - nope. RU-vid - nope. Having a kid over 16 - nope. Art - nope. Music - nope. It's exhausting to pretend to be so monotonous for job security. She just knows how to have a fun time and be silly and I miss her so much. I hope she is leisuring like a fn boss.

people often forget that its not just youtubers who have ""shady"" pasts being offensive and such, pretty much everyone back then did exactly the same things. they forget humor was vastly different 10 years ago, but WE (not just youtubers) learned so much through the years and -hopefully- grew as people. ((im not saying doing blackface or racist jokes were EVER okay, im just saying 99% of people back then didn't care/know those things were wrong to do...which is sad but yeah.))

How people are PEOPLE, and make mistakes until someone tells them that what they did was WRONG and actively decide to change their behavior. She is an incredible person who, I know, is doing amazing things in her own personal life.

This entire video made me long to see her again. I feel deeply sad and probably will always be because of her absence. When she initially left and people said that it was more because she was tired, it made me extremely upset that I couldn't see it. That I didn't know she was feeling this way. I'm happy that she is able to walk in the sun again, but sad that we don't get to join her on that journey. I hope that she will forever live her best life with her family and now with her and Julien getting married soon. While I also hope she'll return, even just on instagram or snapchat, I understand that it's time she needs for herself.

The thing that stood out to me was about her graduating before the age of 18. That's pretty normal for people born later in the year, especially if you're from New York, a state that groups everyone born in the same year in a class. I know because my bestie, also born in September was 17 when they graduated, as was everyone else born from June 27 to December 1999 (class of 2017). lol

I never watched Jenna Marbles I just heard of her name and I did see that apology video in other videos and now after this I gotta say, excellent job man. You've made me feel like I was a fan of her even if I wasn't. Showing me clips of her videos and some of her personality all of it. Now I can safely say I understand why people like her so much. I'm kinda sad she's gone now. She truly is probably one of the few RU-vidrs I've seen take accountability for EVERY wrong they've done. And now I just hope she no longer has to stress about being perfect and making no mistakes in front of others. Again excellent job. Not many documentaries entice me but this one did. In fact all of yours do.

Wow, I had no idea about much of any of this, as in her entire career before her final video. It's pretty amazing she managed to keep her attitude and ego in check all these years to the point to be willing to take herself off the internet while still getting what most would consider a ton of views. Personally, I think she shouldn't be so hard on herself, but it's hard to imagine being in her position. Taking accountability for one's own mistakes is HUGE and not something you will see many people do in general, much less on the internet. It shows depth of character that is very genuine so I'm sure she's better off being away from all the madness of maintaining her channel with it's enormous following. Great vid, always exciting to see you upload!

I feel so sad watching this. The day the Jenna left youtube was like a punch in the gut for me. It's taken me weeks to build up the will power to watch this. Normally I watch your videos as soon as I seen them up, but any content on Jenna sends me into mini depressions. That being said I hope she is happier now that she is out of public scrutiny. She always seemed a little sad near the end of her career on youtube.

I really miss Jenna, I loved her videos when I found her and it was clear that she'd gone through growth throughout her time on the platform. She seems like such a genuine person and I always appreciated that she did what SHE liked and hoped people would like it to, not to mention being willing to address her mistakes and show it was okay to mess up and have that be part of your journey. I hope with all my heart that she's happy and doing well with her family, and if we never see her back here, that's her choice to make

I have been with Jenna’s channel since the very start. She has always, to me, just been very real and she has an incredible talent of making people feel what she’s feeling. My views and behavior grew alongside hers and it was always comforting to hear about another fun, goofy girl going through life like myself totally unprovoked by anything but just the way we grow as people and and I miss her a lot. I am comforted knowing that she is doing things the way that she wants to, on her terms because I would not expect anything different from Jenna.

I just miss Jenna so much. Her birthday is the day after mine & I've always felt like we were so similar, so much so that she felt like the sister I never had (only child.) I love her. I hope she is doing extremely well. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I hope people learn from this. This may not be your most watched video but goddangit it seriously is well researched and chronologically accurate, I often see people saying she got cancelled because of Shane when in reality it was probably that mixed with the fact that she was already tired of youtube, her celebration of 20M subs speaks for itself and even back then it had me thinking she needed a long break. In the end you mentioned she left in her own terms but I think she should've way before, but ultimately maybe it was a blessing in disguise because a reason is all she needed.

She seems like a genuine person and I think it’s a bit harsh to criticise the actions and videos she postet 100 years ago, the times where different back then where people just enjoyed and let themselves be entertained by creativity and honesty. I've watched her since 2013 and even as her content changed and she grew as a person, I always found comfort in her videos, they were the ones that brought me joy during my lowest point. She is one of the most genuine people on this platform and in this day and age where being problematic and offensive is widely accepted, or where og youtubers slowly fade into obscurity, Jenna remained at the top while staying true to herself and being genuine. She has always been a good, normal person, yet people are so quick to cancel and call out others without actually giving them a chance, seeing that they have changed, or realised that they genuinely care like Jenna does. I hope she's happy, healthy and I'm so glad she found Julien, the last we heard, they're engaged! :')

Now they're married and even though several of the doggos are aging and starting to have health problems, Julien is SO damn kind to keep us all updated on HIS channel and moreso on his Twitch account, so that we can keep growing along with them and watch him play games and cook food and other stuff.
