Just a Reminder: I only put MY top 10 favorite songs from every year on this list to show how things changed over the years. This is not a list of the "most influential" songs or groups. A list like that would be hard to create as it would involve a list of requirements that would be different for everyone (ie. Amount of awards, RU-vid Views, etc). If a certain group isn't on here as much as you'd like them to be it's because their songs weren't in MY favorites from that year.

By the beginning of the 21st century, the K-pop market had slumped and early K-pop idol groups that had seen success in the 90's were on the decline. H.O.T. disbanded in 2001, while other groups like Sechs Kies, S.E.S., Fin.K.L, Shinhwa, and g.o.d became inactive by 2005. Solo singers like BoA and Rain grew in success. However, the success of the boy band TVXQ after its debut in 2003 marked the resurgence of idol groups to Korean entertainment and the growth of K-pop as part of Hallyu. The birth of second-generation K-pop was followed with the successful debuts of SS501 (2005), Super Junior (2005), Big Bang (2006), Wonder Girls (2007), Girls' Generation (2007), Kara (2007), Shinee (2008), 2NE1 (2009), 4Minute (2009), T-ara (2009), f(x) (2009), and After School (2009). During the beginning of the 21st century, K-pop idols began receiving success elsewhere in Asia: in 2002, Baby Vox's single "Coincidence" (Korean: 우연; RR: uyeon) became popular in many Asian countries after it was released and promoted during the World Cup in South Korea. BoA became the first K-pop singer to reach No. 1 on the Japanese Oricon music chart[106] and shortly afterwards, Rain had a sold-out concert to an audience of 40,000 fans in Beijing.[107] In 2003, Baby Vox topped the Chinese music charts with their Chinese single "I'm Still Loving You" from their third album Devotion, the first idol group to do so, creating a huge fanbase in China. They also charted in various music charts in Thailand. TVXQ marked the rise of K-pop boy bands in Japan. For me after 2013 all the groups sounds the same, maybe Dreamcatcher at some point is the exception of the formula and it's nice

KISS : Because I am A girl was the first one for me!!! I remember how this video was all over the internet(for my part of Latin community) and the same actor being in Stairway to Heaven too!. Baby VOX introduced Yoon Eun-hye and Yoona(actress) introduced Girls Generation(as well as all SM K-pop artist) 😅 those were the good years.

I told myself at the beginning of each year that I should focus and listen to more girl group songs, but ALWAYS failed by the end of the year. They are so versatile and have different styles, such as Dreamcatcher, Weki Meki and TWICE. Maybe bcz I am a female, I am more attracted to males. Kpop cannot exist without any boy, girl groups and soloists tbh😂

Every generation is great, talented by own way...I hope it won't appeared people who appreciates 1,2,3-rd generations and maybe will count 4-rd generation not enoughly good.. I had to wait until 07-08 before I recognized majority of the songs. I didn’t become a big Kpop fan until 09 and listened to some of the older songs but have been trying to keep up with it since 09.

Very misleading title, no matter the disclaimer. If you title your video "the evolution of kpop" it should provide an overview of the most popular, impactful songs/groups over the years. Random favourite songs of yours don't show any of the evolution within kpop, merely your own (rather stagnant) tastes. None of kpop's evolution is reflected here.
