Forgot to mention his solo career, Quorthon released three solo albums. One in 1994 (Album), and two in 1997 (When Our Day is Through + Purity Of Essence)
@@WhoisVinnie Yes and no. It was the last Bathory song and the final one he composed where his vocals can be heard, but the final song he ever recorded was "Silverwing" for the Jennie Tebler project. It's a lovely Gothic metal song: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Fm7Cv2UHHuY.html
@@sacrifizergermany I understand, but folks got fifteen albums in twenty years…it’s lousy he died young, but he left a a large legacy behind. Dead was 22 and barely on an official album. Cliff Burton, 24 and three albums… Randy Rhoads, 25 and two. Just sayin’…
@@tojorozombie he didn't say the saddest loss, he said one of the saddest losses. Nobody is actually saying all the others metal gods that died at young age aren't important
@@LibertyPrime2072 Right. I get that. I’m only asking why. What makes his loss sad? Little is known of the man. I’m only asking why? Forgive me if I’m an ignorant metal fan from the west.
The self titled gives me raw punk vibes on a lot of tracks. Just darker vocals that are more hype. Unreal and essential to listen to if you like music history
Bathory-Quorthron is the father of all second wave of Black Metal. Not only Norwegian but also Swedish, and even Hellenic Black Metal. Rotting Christ and Kawir have mentioned multiple times that Bathory is the biggest influence of them.
I’m probably the only metal fan that wasn’t a fan of Dimebag. Darrell, due to the fact that I hated Pantera. They always seemed so generic metal. I couldn’t stand them. There was always something fake about Pantera. Besides that, I loved all metal and punk bands.
@@val13c59 you could give them a chance you know, they're such a good fucking band, just listen to cowboys from hell, vulgar display of power or the great southern trendkill if u want a more aggresssive sound
Dont forget Dead, Euronymous and Kurt Cobain. And 2Pac. They werent even 30 and became big legends. Toshe Proeski (1981-2007) Either drugs, suicide or accident
Thank you for this video, I love it. He was an attractive, beautiful man and a great artist. One who has a soul and depth that is infinite will never doubt that Quorthon left behind something of sacred power. Solos that put me in a state that I will not attempt to define in words. Lyrics that are poetry. An amazing voice, even when he falsified a bit. He will remain immortal. Natalia
Quorthon is our King...King for black and viking metal..nobody can be like him...imagine how will sound Nordland 3..Rest in Valhalla dear Quorthon..drink from curve horn with Odin and Thor...my favorite band..and lifetime music...
@@emperorpalpatine7540 Original material was recorded during three sessions in February and October 1988 and in June 1989 at the Heavenshore Studio, Stockholm, Sweden. According to interviews, around 40% of the original material dating from the 80s was re-made - the remaining was untouched
Quorthon has been such an inspiration for me all these years, fucking rip quorthon, its rare to have such a god that had lived among us, he trully inspired many people to become even better and better. Quorthon is more than a music genius.
thanks for making this video, Quorthon was a legend!! he may be dead physically but musically he is still alive, his legacy will never die!! HAIL BATHORY! HAIL QUORTHON!! \m/
You may want to fix that last bit of information in the video. Nordland was never intended to be four albums. That's a mere rumor that has been spread as fact for nearly eighteen years now. The only reason it was two in the first place was because in the studio they realized they had nearly two hours of material, so instead of releasing an absurdly long two hour album, they split it up into two. The next Bathory album was, in Quorthon's own words, going to be something "closer to their roots" implying a Death, Black, or possibly Thrash album. You can find the interview he says this in somewhere on RU-vid if I remember correctly.
Damn I never knew he planned on doing Nordland 3 and 4, that would have been amazing. I really love Nordland, I still remember buying that album back in the day.
"Hammerheart" is on of my all time, favorite Metal albums and I never heard anything about Quorthon being a douche like others that we could mention. 🤘🏻
Been a Bathory fan since self titled..hasn't been a week that I havent played Bathory..Will never get sick of it ...what a sad day when I heard Quorthon had died ..on the bright side of things...if you havent heard Deathlodge...do bathory covers ..them it out ...is heavy and raw as fuk.
@@xuphy9503 That was the last time he did the year number scrolling up in band groups. Except Black Sabbath. I kinda wish the year number in Slayer and Black Sabbath scrolled left.
Quorthon never planned to release Nordland III and IV, that's a urban legend. Nordland was always supposed to be a 2 chapters album, not 4. Check the official Bathory website that is still available online, it's perfectly clear.
He was working on a Black Metal album while planing on some Gothic Metal material with his sister Jennie Tebler bruh don't think there were plans for two more as both were recorded and released in a few months whereas Quorthon lived through another 14 months
