Do Simpson then vs now .Robot chicken then vs now .Mickey Mouse then vs now .Think about this channel .I mean it would keep going .Good job .Suprised that this channel is still going
I think it's funny how I personally prefer the older South Park, but I don't mind how it is now. It's one of those shows that changes with age and isn't crappy
Katlyn Dobransky true. unlike family guy and Simpsons South Park continues to reinvent itself. I am so proud of them and their longevity and consistent quality. Even if a few episodes were kinda lacking they neved turned to garbage
asd qwe Actually, SNL is currently experiencing a ratings renaissance. www.vulture.com/2017/05/saturday-night-live-ratings-this-season-are-unprecedented.html
Also, South Park enjoys huge popularity in both USA and Europe, and probably other parts of the world. SNL on the other hand is mainly just an American thing, with only occasionally scetches gaining attention in other countries
Smiley King I love how throughout the show it slowly got less and less dramatic when they said it but it was great when they got legitimately freaked lol
12DAMDO same but there's hope he will get a much more centered role, considering my favorite episodes are usually when Kenny has some sort of relevance
I think the writers have always struggled with him because he can't talk so it's hard to do good characterisation. They even referred to him as a 'prop' in the early seasons. The best recent episode he had was The City Part of Town. I think the best thing they've done with him is his alter ego Mysterio which also explains that he can't die.
L W in the 92 film, kenny’s mouth is visible, and his voice is much clearer. should’ve just done it like that, honestly. But with a muffled voice, they can get past the sensors, and slip in some real dirty jokes, which is cool too. You can still understand him unless he talks fast, and his voice is probably the closest to a real kid
It’s still great but I do prefer the stand alone episodes where the kids go on a crazy adventure. In the past several seasons it seems a bit, pick a recent event - do an episode on it. I’d say there’s less imagination now but it’s my favourite and I still love it
Same. Most of the time when I hear someone talk about their favorite episodes, it’s a standalone episode. And most of the fans get sick of the king arcs very easily. For example, I know a lot of people (myself included) were very tired of tegridy farms.
@@nyxcat3621 See but the top comment said it was earlier seasons, which I don't agree. I believe it's the new episodes that have changed and get too topical
an interesting tidbit about South Park that you'll NEVER notice unless you use closed captions, is that in early seasons Kenny has no dialog and everything is muffled in later seasons they actually give him dialog in the closed captions.
ya but in early seasons you can't tell at all what he's saying, CC on or off. my point is that in newer seasons while his voice is still muffled they show what he is saying in CC.
I don't understand what you all are talking about, I tried watching old South Park season 1 clips, and then compare them to the new clips and it sounds rather the same to me, only in lower quality, though that's probably because I'm probably not finding the correct videos, since I was searching youtube for it, since due to the poor internet connection I'm getting in America, the South Park official website no longer loads episodes for me anymore (it loaded episodes in Europe, I moved to Europe for some time, but now I'm back in America and I can no longer watch episodes on the website, which sucks, because I was binge-watching South Park about a month ago and I want to continue)
What makes South Park current also dates the show immensely. When I started watching it, I had no idea who the celebrities they were mocking were. But yeah, a unique show.
I think the fact that they started creating more continuity is what really improved the show. I love continuity in non serious shows like South park, when there's lore and the characters become more fleshed out
Here in England next to nobody watches SNL. The majority of the few people who “do” only watch short minute or so long clips on the RU-vid trending page. South Park was massive when I was growing up and even now kids and adults at least know of it or have seen an episode or movie. Worldwide, south park has had a far greater impact.
I grew up watching South Park when I was in high school. 1997 onward. I still watch the show profusely. The changes in the show were absolutely necessary to its success in each era. So I don't wish anything would change back as that would be an early death to the show. Great coverage btw. I enjoyed your video very much :-)
i wore a shirt that said cartoons kick ass in high school and i was ordered to turn it inside out or go home and ill be suspended for a week. i turned the shirt inside out but you could still see the words.
Here's to southpark for the long run... combining brilliant comedy, satire and banter into a flawless mixture any show has yet to create. I've been watching SP for nearly two decades, and i don't see myself stopping anytime soon. great stuff.
I'd say South Park became better in later seasons, however, the last season was one of the worst. Main problem was that every episode was connected and every episode felt like a repeat from the previous one. I really hope they are going back to one off episodes next season.
The entire season 20 was actually not meant to be about the election Trey and Matt came into the season with no intention of covering the election it was originally supposed to be about the force awakens
the old animation had alot more charm to it, the last few seasons have also been pretty much pure political/social commentary while older seasons had actual storylines. old > new
@MrGladBEASTftw What I don't understand is why Trey and Matt claim that South Park went "from several subplots to single stories after Scott Tenorman Must Die", when the very next episode after that (Cartmanland) in fact is yet another episode with several subplots - Cartman's ownership of the fun fair and Kyle's hemorrhoid problem. They definitely did multiple other episodes like that after that time as well, where several events happen at the same time.
Some people aren't a fan of the newer episodes, but i love the more adult themes. It's a much more grown up show and i enjoy it. The overarching themes and plots appeal to me, because they'r more structured and organized than individual ones. I love the show. And i'll be sad when it finally goes.
Who else noticed how in the old episodes Randy is a serious adult. An example of this is in the episode “Volcano” and other earlier season episodes. Now he is silly
I hate the serialized structure, that is one of the worst detriments to South Park, even if "tv is changing" South Park was always different, and serialization creates a system where one subject that could've been handled in a single episode (for example internet trolling) is stretched over an entire season.
Douglas Kurtz Yeah, I am sometimes on comedy central and it's annoying when they show like episode 6 or something, because you have No idea where it came from. But if you can stream it, it's not too bad. I hope they change it in season 21.
I think the older episodes look much better. The bigger emphasis on detail looks a bit off putting. And I still don't see the appeal of having Randy take over almost every episode.
I liked when the 4 main boys were the central focus. Butters was a happy care free puff ball. He arcs weren’t a season long. They didn’t just focus politics. Cartman wasn’t nice. The episodes didn’t make you cry(I’m looking at you stan and Kenny). And it was just a fun show to watch to stop worrying about the outside world.
Old and new i still love south park, it will forever be my favorite show. Its not even because of the humor or anything, ive simply been watching these characters go about their lives in their quiet mountain little mountain town literally my entire life
6 months later I speak to you from the future! Beware of the AI they know all and present ads that wish to rules us all!!! Also, it is, they have said it multiple times but some people, I guess, need to produce weekly content and don't do research like cnn, fox news, or msnbc.
Cartman's mom putting her foot down on Cartman beating up his friends was the only time I saw her say, NO. And I agree with that you shouldn't beat up your friends.
My favorite series ever I have watched it over so many times including the banned episodes. The most recent seasons aren't as good but it still gets a good laugh out of me.
I still like South Park but I wish they do more relatable humour more often. Less politics and social topics. Alltough the tourette episode is one of my favourites.
This biggest change is obviously the continuity of the episodes in the seasons. Used to be random episodes not linked to the last whereas all the episodes connect with each other chronologically. It's added a lot to the show and allowed them to expand more on their social commentary. But it can turn into a long, dragged on joke if they don't pick the right content.
Seasons 18 and 19 are some of my favorites in the entire series. I was hugely disappointed with season 20 while it was airing but have softened up to it slightly. I think they should stick with the light continuity like in 18/19, but not make it completely serialized like in 20.
Fun fact:the OMG YOU KILLED KENNY gag still happens like in season 8 ep 10 where kenny dies in the game the gag still comes just kenny doesn’t die more often in later seasons
DerVideoSchauer thinking it’s good, even really good, is totally fine, but the best? Personally, the run from seasons 5 through 8 are overall some of the best episodes episodes of any cartoon ever (season 7 is my personal favorite). That’s not a knock against the other seasons though, I like every season of the show to an extent.
I remember buying Southpark on VHS,I'd imagine a lot of today's audience wouldn't have used one. Big up Southpark for being here 23 seasons later with success, relatability and relevance still in abundance.
Jordan Cormack its like he has never seen the show and is like ignorant of the fact like they say the names correctly in the show like whats his problem its almost like he is doing it on purpose
Chef (RIP Issac Hayes), Miss Crabtree the Bus Driver (RIP Mary Kay Bergman), Dr. Mephisto (and Kevin!), Pip (who may have been a proto-Butters but there were episodes with both Butters and Pip), and Mr. Hat (yes, he counts!) were all pretty regular early season peripheral characters, except Chef who was more than that. a supporting character really, but all are no longer seen. Chef and Miss Crabtree have died in the show but the others as far as I know are just MIA. Also Jimbo and Ned, you still see them in the background, maybe Jimbo still has a rare line here and there but their appearances have been sharply reduced since the early seasons.
Oliwer I feel like a way that it could be explained in the show is that he’s gone through puberty so that’s why his voice has changed. I mean it’s so weird because this show has been around since 1997 and you’re just sitting there watching them grow up before your eyes.
First three seasons were raw as, middle of forth season the boys went into 4th grade class, but the 4th grade vibes didn’t really start until season 5, season 4 still felt like seasons 1-3 but the classroom was different and different teacher, that could be technology and direction of the show was heading when the start of the 2000s was a major turning point. I like the first few seasons for its raw and dirty humour but I also like the more recent ones too, since season 10 South Park has caught up with the times and started to get more political.
TeddySpaghetti7 maybe it’s different for you, but most elementary schools go up to 6th grade (including theirs), so they won’t be the oldest in school when they’re in 5th grade.
Southvpark season 1-5: Decent, basic, classic animation South park season 6-present: Over the top twisted crude jokes based on either real celebs or films
you got the reason for chef leaving wrong Isaac Hayes, who left the series after "Trapped in the Closet" due to its portrayal of Scientology. seems that he didn't mind them slaging off other religions just as long as it wasn't his
when i was 10 like kyle, stan, eric, kenny ect. i wasn't allowed to watch south park but whenever i had a sleepover at my friends house (which was just across the street) we watched it together and i always felt as if i was such a badass kid 😂
Alfie Natsura It's absolutely my favorite show, but that doesn't mean I can't see flaws in it when there are flaws. Season 20 wasn't bad, but it wasn't near as memorable. I didn't get that "feeling" I get when I watch South Park. Supposedly, Matt and Trey are finished with Serialization, which is sad, but also relieving but the "Episode of the Week" format keeps me on my toes. I remember wondering what the next South Park would be about.
I love how i wasnt allowed to watch it when i was younger but did anyway and now i watch it all the time as an adult. I feel like i grew up with South Park
I think the first and second season with continuity were actually the best seasons of the 2010's. I mean Lorde-Randy, PC-principle and the mocking on PC-culture in general were super memorable.
