Sims 3 nailed teens. The proms, the parties, the kisses, sneaking out. It really was all an improvement from Sims 2 which is also an amazing game. Sims 4 dumbed everything down and made them so boring.

Teenagers in the Sims 2 and 3 feel very young, like 15 or 16. Teens in the Sims 4 feel much older, like 17 or even 18.

I still can't tell the difference between teens and young adults in Sims 4. Hearing they've made changes to make them easier to tell apart was news to me! 😂

In the Sims 2 and Sims 3, teens can runaway from home and the parent can call the police to hopefully get them back sooner. In the Sims 2 parents can encourage character traits that will influence the teens as they grow up 🥰

I've never played the Sims 2 and that first kiss cut scene is the cutest thing I've ever seen! I started with TS3, so 4 was the biggest let down EVER.

In the sims 2, if the teen just does so absolutely horribly in school, there is a chance that they can be visited by the social worker and be like expelled from school and any chance of college. I have experienced this myself and I was really shocked lol

In Sims 3, you could also send your child and/or teen away to a boarding school. There were 5 different ones, with each teaching different skills; if your child/teen had a negative-type trait, the boarding school experience could replace it with a positive-type one (different traits for each of the different schools). And when the teen graduates, they could start at Level 2 of the career associated with the school. The one time I played with children, I sent the twins away to different boarding camps based on their interests. Don’t remember now how it all worked out, but it was much easier for me to handle only 2 sims instead of 4 in one household!

The Sims 2 first kiss sequence is so pure.

Looking back at the sims 2, 3 & 4 now as a adult I’m starting to see that I don’t really like how the sims look in sims 3 but like how they look in sims 4 & then sims 2. Now, when it comes to the gameplay/trait aspect of it, the sims 2 is the winner & then sims 3 as there are a lot more options to choose from. They really downgraded the sims 4

TS3 also had a lot of teen-specific objects! The prom queen tiara & the prom king crown, the prom photo, some of the field trip memorabilia, and some event-specific items could only be obtained by playing as a teen.

Sims 3 looked so weird! How didn’t I notice at the time…

SOMETHING very simple but incredibly immersive for the sims 2 was that teens simply had different animations for the same things as adults, be it walking, checking themselves out, romantic interactions, etc. that always made them feel different and was such a necessary detail that the other games havent done

My Sims 3 had this bug where grounded teens would get in trouble for trying to go to school.

Kinda wanted to point out that you earn just manners when a teen or child is setting the table, not gain manners and responsibility

I haven't played since they apparently updated the look of teens, so that's cool to know! When High School Years came out, every single one of those "teens" in that pack looked like they were about to start pushing 30 lmfao

You forgot about running away! In the sims 2, if teens have a negative enough relationship with their family, they can run away and can only be brought back by aging up or having the parents call the police.

The Sims 2, before any EPs, has the best base gameplay. Teens can do so much even before University comes in with scholarship incentives. Its also fun how aspiration affects Teens, Romance and Family sims really wanting that first kiss- while Family kids will want to go steady. While Fortune Sims will want to get into Private School, get a job, and once you have nightlife they’ll really want to buy a cellphone.

Also want to add that in ts2, a teen can ask their parent for permission to date another teen. I was shook when the option came up for me! My teen's dad agreed btw :)

In Sims 4 the teens are only shorter than adults with the shorter teen mod, I have to admit, there is one household I made with a teen and her mom, and I always confused them with each other without the mod, Oh and don't worry about not being able to go to school with the child sims, that will be in a future Elementary pack, then probably 6 months after that we will get the Preschool pack where you can go with Toddlers to preschool, Then probably a Kit advertising some kind of baby clothes brand for some clothes for infants.

I had so much fun with teen sims in the sims 3!! There's a lot of thinks to do, it's very easy to create drama especially if your decide to have a rebel teen

Everything about the Sims 2 was amazing. Especially the memories, it made the Sims seem so much more “real.” I love Sims 3 too, and feel like they expanded a lot on that. The Sims 4 was just dumbed down and boring.

I like the Sims 2 and 3 , for some reason when I went to France with my teen sim and her dad, left and came back later she had a kid with one old guy there and she was still a teen, I like the vacation spots in Sims 3

In sims 2.. if grades are extremely while holding a job the teen sim will get fired from that part time job for having low grades. It makes the game more challenging imo which I like. And if the teen has low relationships with the household they will run away. You can call the police to report sim missing and sometimes the teen will come back on their own as well.

im not complaining too much about sims 4 teens, but for the love of the sims, MAKE THEM SHORTER!!! OR JUST IN GENERAL MAKE A HEIGHT SLIDER!! legit, im using a height slider mods, it works fine but the animations are wack xDDD

I started on the Sims 3 as a kid, I never knew how simple The Sims was

Sims 2 personalities have a few more aspects to personalities that you missed: Interests: they change through gameplay of each individual sim. Hobbies (FreeTime): opens up lots of additional interactions. While hobbies are based on personality, they add to it, especially when said gameplay is performed in their predestined hobby, as well as, hobbies alter interests immensely (ergo, can minimally/drastically alter personalities). 2nd Aspiration (FreeTime): with the added aspiration comes added perks (which can be added in to even just the existing aspiration), that can boost benefits and needs, allong with 2 additional categories. Once a sim becomes a teen, all these categories are opened up, and as your sim progresses points can be added accordingly, as well as adding that secondary aspiration, opening up more wants and fears. Aspiration rewards and potions: Many aspiration rewards can enhance or completely change sims personalities (including aspirations), even failure adds nuance (i e. Grilled Cheese aspiration). Potions can temporarily or even permanently enhance or change personalities. They can even allow to change turn-ons/turn-offs. Encourage: Older sims can encourage younger sims to change personalities. Memories: the system is so complex, that good/bad memories will affect gameplay, as well as, their rolled wants/fears, ultimately affecting their personalities. Star Signs: Primarily these affect the attraction system, but combined with mismatched Aspiration choices (or even personality points, whether in cas/birth/changed via encourage, they alter personalities between other sims with the same aspiration (or aspiration combos), making every sim (in this case, teen) more unique. Owning a business (Open for Business): Yes, even teens can become entrepreneurs, and like the aspiration perks, OFB business owning offers business perks and even basic needs perks, which again, enhance personality. Occults: becoming nearly any occult (even hybrid occult), alters personalities minimally to drastically. Vampires/Zombies can alao get college scholarships. Talent Badges: Not only do these increase hobbies or owned businesses/work/home life, they enhance aspiration levels (Platinum Sims are Happy Sims), wgichvin turn enhance personalities (along with skills). Reputation (Apartment Life): While all other sims versions added in a celebrity system, Sims 2's was a bit more gradual with the scaling (like the others, you could gain perks, i.e. discounts, work promotions/raises, small/large gifts), unlike the others, you could gradually go below the standard, which would affect how the entire neighborhood/s will see you and treat you (from fighting to paying more rent/at businesses/etc., to losing work pay/demotions/being fired, to losing hobby/skill points). The range is -10 to +10, so your sim's ever changing reputation can skyrocket or plummet more gradually, which in turn, can enhance, complicate or even destroy one's personality. In my opinion, the Reputation System in Sims 2 is far better than any of the Celebrity Systems (less intrusive, but having far more productive/catastrophic repercussions). Also, if your reputation is high enough, random sims will ask for your autograph autonomously. I know I likely missed a few, but since each added feature works in tandem or adds nuance to the others, Sims 2 have the most personality (because their personalities are not static, like the others). Also, one cool aspect (carried on from Sims 1, but dropped in Sims 3+), sims can have one-sided relationships, meaning teen sims can feel one way about another sim, yet target sim can feel completely different, hence true crushes and heartbreaks are foreseeable. While Sims 3 added pranks (can be done by some Sims 2 occults) and proms (Sims 2 teens can build dance halls, where you could attend a prom with your Sims), as Sims 4 added the ability to attend school with teens (again, Sims 2 teens can build skill building that teens, and even children can attend, without even adding mods), Sims 2 teens actually progress uniquely, as each of the aforementioned parts of their personality gradually/drastically changes, it sets them apart from all the rest, because they are the most diverse and unique. I did forget to add in University, which stands out from the rest too, because again their personalities are affected by their majors, and gameplay (i.e. joining Greek Societies, Dorms, Secret Societies, etc.), but since this is just focused on teens, these personality changes will not affect them until they enter Uni as a Young Adult. Also, what I love best about Sims 2 teens (and over all), are those cutscenes (i.e. first kiss). I was a gamer (still am), before playing the Sims games, and I truly enjoy cutscenes in games, and the beauty of Sims 2, if you grow tired of them, or just don't like them, you can turn them off completely. TLDR: Sorry, but if you made it this far, Sims 2 teens (and all sims), are the best (imho)❣

Man I really miss how specific the wants and fears were in sims 2. What an excellent game. I only ever played with the base game of sims 2, but I feel like I never ran out of interesting things to do. I have nearly every DLC for Sims 4 (Only missing 3 game packs and most of the kits) and it feels so narrow and bare bones compared to a game from nearly 20 years ago. Sims 4 is the only one I use gameplay mods for because it so desperately needs the help. Sheesh.

I surprisingly actually love the TS4 teens the most, overall! That's at least considering owning all packs. I just wish the would be a bit shorter than YA and adults, too!

I love sims 2 and wish sims 3 gameplay was in sims 2 or sims 4 because I can’t play sims 3 at all because of the open world and how it would just make everything lag. Sims 4 looks nice but it’s so boring like there’s no consequences so there’s barely any drama. I want them to sneak out and get caught by police & throw parties and get caught by police plus punishments would be amazing to add. The only time there’s drama is if my sim has 2 crushes lol 😂

everything is behind a pay wall with the Sims 4, base game is extremely depressing. I remember playing Sims 2 & 3 and not needing packs until a few months in when I wanted more experiences.

For Sims 4, I think you really have to utilize clubs to get the most out of the life stage. Setting up cliques takes a bit, but is worth it, especially if you play rotationally.

As someone who loves achievement hunting the fact I’ve spent hundreds of pounds on the sims 4 dlc and they didn’t add a single achievement for anything really boils my blood

I like The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 teens the most well. The Sims 4 teens well.... I got to say Boring not the best than the two games. I play them in the Sims 4 and it was boring and just annoys me how they get mood swings and stuff my teens do that alot and its annoying.

My Sims 4 had triplets and they just recently aged into teens. Ive been playing Sims for a LOONG time now and for the first time I actually was questioning whether I got a bug and they skipped teens. I watched them age progress but they look entirely like adults. Its so annoying

Does anyone remember one of the teen jobs in sims 3 being caretaker at the graveyard? When I first ever played it I made my teen a goth kid who worked there and befriended the ghosts, but they seem to have removed it for some reason.

Having teenagers that you can't tell from adults is a small problem, but overall Sims 4 had the most quantity for teenagers of things to do. The quality was good also, especially being able to actually go to school, unlike the other games

I like to pretend that Sims 4 is not a part of Sims franchise, just a standalone (and a knock off). Sims 2 and 3 both have special places in my heart. Being able to follow your Sim on a school day does sound good, but it can not make a game worthwhile when core mechanics suck. Sims 2 had chemistry, wants and fears, memories, zodiac signs and personality points. Sims 3 had wants, traits (5 traits you could choose for your sim, 6 in some cases, too many options to choose from) and moodlets. Sims 4 seriously lacked in all those that made your sim *someone*

i like it wouldnt have been too hard for the sims 4 team to have made teenagers shorter. i dont mind the same wardrobe, maybe some items for teens exclusively would have been cool, but the lack of distinction between teens and adults is so annoying

I love how the gameplay evolved in the Sims 4 ! However I loved when the teens could go over the wall and get caught by the police in the Sims 2. And to me a MAJOR thing is missing in the game... preteens ! Because going from kid to teen makes absolute no sense especially in the Sims 4 where teens look more like adults.

Can we talk about how teenagers in Sims 4 can fully live on their owns!!! I just found this out by accident when it was an option to move a teenager sim out of my house but looked it up and confirmed: a teenager does not need a parent to be placed in world. -- I haven't played with that yet but I'm curious as to why? They truly are almost indistinguishable from YA and Adult sims minus things they can and cannot do.

The issue with teenagers is being a teen is in stages, preteen, teen, adult teen, pretty much. Sims needs to capture all of being a teen, not just parts of it.

One of the biggest problems with Sims 4 teens is that they don’t look like teens. Which would be fine if there were pre-teens. But there aren’t…

In TS2 teens with low aspiration will act out much like children throwing tantrums. They'll do petty stuff like destroy other sims' things and stomp flower beds on community lots.

I don’t have any experience with teens in The Sims 3 (I have base game only which I got last year and have only played a couple of hours so my child sim hasn’t aged to a teen yet), so I can’t say with certainty that TS2 teens are best, but they are the best I’ve seen and I do like them a lot. Based off the video TS3 teens do sound good, but not as good as TS2 teens. I definitely could be wrong, but that’s my vote for now.
