I really wanna buy the 1200 G , how good is it? More importantly does it take your breath away to touch and feel? I have a 1200mk 5 and I need to be able to justify the change ?
What's the big deal with the sl-1200 series, these are made for DJs now everyone thinks their a dj must have one. Technics also came out with units for everyday people who just want to listen to music.
mk5g's are the pick of the bunch, made of granite castiron and titanium, beat that, I know they've got digital pitch but if you do the qaurtz lock remove mod make mixing effortless on these turntables. apart from the gold ones they are the best looking aswell but I know for a fact they are only gold plated and the gold comes off over time so yeah mk5gs are the best!
I don't remember anybody with black 1210's back in the day. The black 1210's became widely available in the early 90's and they were marketed to have an improved motor for quicker start/stop. Is it true that 1210's were first manufactured in 1978? That's the first time I ever heard that.
Xavier Ramos that’s what I thought. I bought a set of black 1210’s in the early 90’s and they cost more than the 1200’s because apparently they were just released.
Mong man well I can’t say for sure when the black 1210 Mk II were first released. But I can say for sure is that the pitch controller was a lot more touchy/sensitive/quicker then the 1200’s.
Mong man your correct. But I found out why some pitch controllers felt different on some decks to others, I was a DJ for over 10 years. I thought it was a 1200 and 1210 thing but it’s not, apparently the pitch controllers were changed from 1997. Here’s what I found from Wiki. “Since 1997, The Mk2 had the pitch slide potentiometer improved in order to remove the quartz lock conflict when beatmatching near the 0% mark. in order to do this, the SFDZ122N11-1 part number was replaced with an improved SFDZ122N11-2 part which had a +/- 0.5mm quartz travel lock, much shorter than previous versions. This meant that the null point on the centre voltage tap was slightly bigger thus removing the quartz lock conflict.
Nice video but not for all models for example i have the sl-bd22 with a lot of versions of it like the dd version and many others : But anyway nice video Technics is my favorite hi-fi brand :-)
You did not even mention the SL1600mk2 a better automatic version of 1200 with suspension which not even the almighty 1200g/gr does not have! I wish they would reintroduce that model again. The best choice for home use.
@Mong man @pulezan Automatic Technics turntables have infra-red sensors for record size. So what happens is, the turntable automatically detects the size of the record and places the arm accordingly. I know of someone who has rebuilt both 1200s and 1600s and prefers the sound of the 1600 (and 1700/1800) MK2 models. It is built "as well" - it's just built differently, using dual suspension for home use rather than the more rugged layering on the 1200 models, suitable for club/public use. This would probably account for the bulk of the difference in sound. In addition, it weighs 10kg - that is not "loads lighter" than the 12.5kg of the 1200MK2, and it is probably about the same weight as the new MK7. I prefer my 1200MK3D for availability of replacement parts and trouble-free use. But there are several key and totally understandable reasons why people might like 1600-1800MK2 models more (or a selection of many other models still, for that matter). There are so many amazing Technics models. My favourites: 1200MK2 and above, SL-10 (which I also own)/SL-15, SL-V5, SL-M3, SP-10 (various versions). In addition, I just bought a wonderful entry-level model for my old man: the SL-Q200.
I m not an audiophile, i use It for mixing and i sold 3 mounth ago 2 technics for 2 reloop 7000 and i m very Happy, technics are Legend but nowadays are obsolete and too expensive, the true value of 2 technics of second hand are 600-700 euro not more, and for a new One Is insane and no sense
It had a recessed power switch,as this was an issue for battle set ups. DJs would accidentally brush thier hand against it while performing, thus turning the motor off. So they recessed it to stop this from happening
@@tyronesmith9267 Wrong, no USB connection on the Mk7s. Also, they play vary well. Only issue is the composite base which doesn't isolate as well as the mk2s. Not an issue since l'm a DVS user.
