I am a 67 year old man and feel like I am living my life backwards. I tend to test as both INTJ and INFJ. As a teenager, I never dated and when I was in my 20s I rarely dated and spent much of my time just thinking and living on my own. Then I found a lady who could tolerate me and then married her. 40 years later, I became widowed. Rather than roll over and become a recluse, I am now dating, traveling and enjoying life that feel I missed out on earlier.
James i hear you! Intj in my youth, pre therapy. Infj frm there on out. I consider myself infj but understand the inxj ideology and can pull on those T functions if needed (under heavy stress). I also became widowed in recent years after 39 yrs married. I processed the grief and had to go all the way back and process again the events that contributed to my life. That was a lot of work, but well worth it. I'm now becoming the person who was put on hold to become what was necessary. I look younger for some reason, and am active as able. I have many hobbies and contributing to society in an introverted way. I do feel younger and less mentally burdened, but realize I'm choosing to repel stressors when I see them coming. I'm living to feel complete and whole. My infj brothers are doing the same. I think I'll send them this video. I hope youre enjoying yr senior years! All the best.
This is such a beautiful micro-autobiography. Thank you for sharing. Aging backwards seems to be a common 'theme' in the stories of older introverted intuitives (INFJs & INTJs).
It's true, it's not until our Fe actually kicks in and takes control that we finally begin to access our true emotions and can finally pick our feelings from everyone else's. Until then, we just ran on our 3rd function Ti 24/7 always exhausting ourselves, and making it impossible to fully connect with people.
Ever seen the curious case of Benjamin Button? Even before Mbti I always felt that movie personally...old soul...now getting younger in spirit. The story of how the 2 character ages intersect with each other was pretty interesting as well. It sounds almost as though youve been given the opportunity at the near impossible: a second life. I'm in my 30's and within in the past few years I have separated myself from environments and people that were not that good for me. It was very hard but massive massive change came from this. I'm starting to feel like myself again and everything comes naturally into my life. I'm sure challenges will continue to come but I feel better prepared and I am more comfortable in myself and my choices.
I feel like I'm half way between the younger nievete of my younger years. Have definitely grown some strong boundaries. But still are sceptical and over analyze every interaction. Makes it hard to just be. It was actually a whole lot easier in my 20s and 30s to just go out and be social for no purpose except to meet new people or hang out friend's
Turning 32 next month, and this video is incredibly on point so far. Also provides a sense of relief that the things I would obsess and stress over when I was younger, tend to not carry as much weight later on in life.
This makes so much sense...I'm in my forties and seemingly feel and look younger than I did in my twenties when the world was on my shoulders...only issue is that I'm now attracting younger guys who dont believe my age..lolol😅
If we are being looked as weird during our youth, it's going to be interesting what it will be when it's the turn of each INFJ reaching their wisdom ages.
As we become more comfortable, we can ignore the people looking at us as though we're weird or gifted or unexplainable to them. We settle into relationships with people who have learned to enjoy our gifts but they still seem a little envious. This won't bother you so much anymore. You will be so at ease and in love with your inner self that you don't want any negativity regarding who you are to seep in and spoil your inner joy. Ballsy is a good word. Things that used to make you feel like you are bragging or showing too much intellect can be let go of. People who can have yr friendship without resenting you just naturally gravitate toward you. Extroverts find yr skills help them and their skills help you, as long as neither is envious. Friendships are more fulfilling. You become too important to allow harm to come to yourself. 65, feeling so good, accepting that I'm not for everyone but happy to be me.
We stop thinking we have to solve the world's problems and just seek like minded people, gifting the world with our chosen ways. Once you look for them, you'll see just how many good people are out there. We fight battles, not wars. We give and contribute on small scales and that's our job as humans, to do what we can where we can and how we are able. That will bring you joy. I'm 65, and finally at peace and energized for the future I'm participating in.
@@oldflowertender yes you are right and I continue to contribute the best I can. I don’t look for anyone,like minded are far and few I get total different experience’s as a BLACK MALE. I will continue on the path of righteousness but it’s not easy when you face constant prejudice and racism envy jealousy and ignorance from my own people on top of a life full of turmoil and constantly dealing with one issue after another I’m not crying or complaining I’m just telling the truth
@@Scrooge1801 oh yes I understand (except of course I can't completely understand abt the prejudices toward black males part), how infj get shafted from many around them. Growing up military family in the 50s 60s and 70s, I've both seen great mistreatment and experienced it. And the being infj adds to it. But, it's possible as we age to fight a different fight than the one of our youth. I hear you are a righteous man, that will serve you tenfold as you get older (guessing yr not a senior yet?). We get better at directing our skills and find satisfaction in more victories. We also get skilled at weeding out useless baggage and energy draining people. All of that plus a comfort in who we are and our value as an individual human being makes our senior years different, and often more peaceful. I hope you do too. And I hope your personal battles with prejudice is lessened by many loving people in your future.
@@PSYCH-O I am just realizing personality types I didn’t know I was empathetic or anything until I discovered this on RU-vid my life has not been the worst but I have experienced a lot of unfair things happen to me I am thankful and blessed I am pretty far in my journey I am just fed up dealing with people and the ways of the world
