God, even after our death, centuries later, we go from a hero to a legend, and inspire other people to unbelievable heroism themselves, willing to sacrifice themselves to save *you*. That's some heavy stuff, and the feels are intense here. Such good writing, this expansion just kills me in so many good ways.
This was the real heart of the expansion for me, cuz it makes even the redundant side quests where you have to collect a thing, slay some beast, and run errands for people mean so much more in the grand scheme of things. That the small actions you take in the present may not be fully recognize or appreciated in the moment, but could very well mean the world to a group of people in the future looking back. It’s not a sheer fire thing that your actions will, but it’s the uncertainty that keeps you on your toes and be the best “You” you can be. An example for those yet born, even if you’re just a small piece in a much grander picture.
When you think about it, this whole scene answers Emet-Selch's later challenge - Would half your number give up their lives to save the other? They did. The people of the Eighth Umbral Era would see their whole timeline unwritten - two hundred years of history undone, for the sake of people who didn't even exist to them.
Holy crap, you're right. Actually, in theory, it was probably more, since, over time, more and more people would have sacrificed themselves to accomplish this.
Through action, a Man becomes a Hero Through death, a Hero becomes a Legend Through time, a Legend becomes a Myth And by learning from the Myth, a Man takes action
This scene was the one that got me the most, you spend all your time doing side quest after side quest hunting lore throughout this game, meeting all these charaters, their storys and it comes full circle, it becomes our story, let it be said that out of all the questing in video games this....this game has given me a feeling I've never felt from any game thats come before. A true journey. Something you can look back on. We got to see the aftermath of our actions and the effect it had on the world.....and thats worth a thousand times more than any gil or exp. We played FF14 and the games story said, thank you.
That even the smallest of actions taken now, can leave a lasting impact for those who learn our story. We can’t return to the past, but we can set an example for generations to come.
A cool detail about this. When it talks how all this was made possible by knowledge gained through the WoL adventures they're talking about ingame events. Through Alexander was knowledge gained of time travel, with the eponymous primal even being referred to as the "wings of time." And the other was Omega, a being with the ability to manipulate the Rift, indicated by the worlds he created for us to fight in. Cid took the info from those raids and it formed the foundation of everything. And it still chokes me up to see Count Edmond's memoirs, titled "Heavensward" in that Ishgardian's child's arms at 8:26. You know something is heavy when even Urianger is overwhelmed, like at 9:41.
God i love this expansion and game itself. FFXIV has gone and done something I never thought possible. It has knocked my favorite FF8 and all the emotions surroinding that game from my Nr1 FF to a solid second :)
Alright so i started watching your reactions since the first one of ShB, your reactions are really genuine and not over the top or played, it's really nice seeing you react to the scenes, really enjoying this!
when you dont do Crystal Tower it ends up like a Dr Who episode, spoilers. The Crystal Exarch planning to go all River Song, and my past is your future.
IMO I think it had to do with the fact that the WoL lost so many friends already and another one of their friends were planning on sacrificing themselves and the other keeping silent on it. I understand they want to prevent another calamity but they hid the truth from their friends. They rather work together to find a better solution than one they came up with. Urianger already did this before and we lost Minfilla for it even if a world is saved. That’s why the WoL is upset with this plan. Just my thoughts.
boooooooooooo. you should have picked the 2nd option! and this this story I can see in some far future expansion that we go all the way back in time and prevent the original shattering, and who knows, maybe we will have the power, at that time, to pull all the 'lesser' beings with us and then it will be the Elds and us on the same planet with a whole new world to explore. This story would take at least 10 year just to get to that prevention point, and 20 if not more to explore taht new world :D
@@KrimsonKB Hahaha, now you need to go back in time, beat CT, and then beat the MSQ. The altered dialogue, though not radically different, also happened outside of cutscenes. That being said, at least in 5.0, the two biggest ones were when the Exarch got shot and post-final battle.
