Best ys 8 video I've ever seen, made me discover new sides of this game

so glad there’s video makers who write for the viewer for after they’ve experienced the original work so they don’t just repeat the events. good analysis, any thoughts on the game’s gods/goddesses and it’s sefirot symbolism. That and the heavy recurrence of ‘evolution’ and ‘domination’ of a species. Then the god dreams of a ‘filter/limit’, a god of the earth not of man playing more to the existentialism. Forgive me if the god-adjacent analysis is overdone in the jrpg space. theres the collective consciousness and the idea of ‘despair’ and persevering that. evolution could be seen as emblematic of self-improvement on a grand scale, And like you said the environment of the village and characters’ changes show this on a micro scale. The calamity made me think of the concept of the ‘great filter’, traditionally in the idea it spawns from man’s undoing. in the game it’s indulgence from the gods to limit them, but because unchecked man dominating; limits all others. the island serving as an example of an environment of a land untouched by man (through a filter no lees) compared to the constant mentioning of wars when mainlands are mentioned. So it could still be said to be man’s undoing.
