What I love about this chapter is the genuine occult lore that went into their naming scheme.

Imagine being a traitor marine or a Chaos cultist , chilling with the others , and then suddenly , an army of Argel Tal charging at you with full speed

It seems that the lore has been retconned to make the Exorcists a successor chapter of the Imperial Fists rather than the Grey Knights.

Just found this again. The Exorcists are one of my favourite chapters. They're much less pious than the Grey Knights for sure.

So exorcism of a space marine is possible within the 40k universe. So theoretically if a demonic chaos marine was taken captive the demon could be removed and through a degree of physiological reconditioning and physical surgery the marine could be restored to something resembling a normal human for an Astartes anyway.

It's always possible that the imperium lied about the gene seed origins of the chapters that originate from traitors. It's just like how the Sons of the Phoenix are listed as descending from the Imperial Fists but show obvious signs of being coming from the Emperors Children.
