2:26 How'd you miss: the BSG reference to Kara Thrace, the Terminator reference Sarah Connor and the Stargate reference Jack O'Neil? Also not only do they name a ship "Shaka Zulu" but The Expanse sort of uses his bull horn tactic.
This whole thing was a mess, you clearly have never seen the show, mispronounced EVERY name, and half your facts are wrong. No mention of the heavy Greek mythology influence, for example "Juliette Andromeda Mao", as in Andromeda tied to a rock to be sacrificed to the leviathan that is pretty much the whole first season, Eros the god of love that covered us to S2E5. Try watching the show, or reading the book or you could play the game that you say didn't exist, Shed died in the show because someone couldn't carry on playing and they keep it.
Roci'ante, Donnagher, Scalopi, Marcos Inaros... I get that the voice actor is not the same person who wrote the script but at least double check with him...
How did he even get Scalopi from Scopuli? If you're going to do a narration about a sci-fi show, you should probably, at the very least, know how Dalek is pronounced too. Dr.Who has been around for about 70 years, so there's a reasonable chance you would have heard the word Dalek without even having seen the show.
Not just the best Sci-Fi show but best thing I ever had the pleasure of watching on a screen in my lifetime. Crazy to think that I initially rejected the show (only got to episode 2) only to come back to it years later and deem it the best ever!!! So many folks are missing out on this one!
Is anyone else annoyed that the narrator messes up the name of nearly every ship? The Rociante (Rocinante) the Toshi (Tachi) and the Donnag-er (Donnager) He even calls the Twin Towers in NY the "Two Towers".
Thank you. I thought I was going crazy... He says rociante when the name of the ship is on screen and it clearly reads rociNante. How do these people even have jobs?
@@factualopinion4275 I'm usually against recasting but since there is canonical precedent in The Expanse's lore of people being able to effortlessly modify their appearance and voice through (expensive) means; it could be made to make sense for Alex to change his appearance and voice for clandestine ops purposes or due to needing extreme reconstructive surgery, etc.
The first "easter egg" I saw was when I saw episode one. Not a true easter egg, but I enjoyed it. About 15 minutes into the first episode you see the pilot put his hands on the flight equipment. It is the A-10 Warthog flight joystick and throttle. I have the exact same thing on my desk.
I really liked it, too! I even got my family and friends to watch it and they are big fans now. Edit: Found the series! Indiens even know that existed! Thank you very much for mentioning it :)
Please, can you, narrator, at least watch SOME episodes before made the video ??? you mispronounced at least half of names !!!!!! ( remember, this was made to please FANS )
2:51 Avasarala contacts include her husbands name, who got recasted between seasons. As did Clegane. As did every other character on this list. THAT'S THE JOKE. That and your horrible speling when it came to ship's names - you blew this one
EVERYBODY EXCEPT 1, missed the real sound of Saturn as recorded by the Cassini Space probe in S1 E1. It was overlaid with the distress signal from the Scopuli. I posted this on my Reddit thread in the Expanse sub So damn cool. I love how even by the 7th rewatch, you can notice things you've never seen before. Split seconds of a screen sometimes. Bloody brilliant
If they made a 7th season though, one that follows the big time-jump in the novels, I would like to see older actors play these characters. But then...would the snow be as good with different actors? I think so, but it's also possible that the original series was lightning in a bottle.
@@truejim well, it depends on how you want to portray it. I think even in the books it is stated that they don't look the full 30 years older due to advancements in technology etc. so maybe the same actors some 5 years later with a bit of makeup could work
bobbie is the most SJW casting ive seen in a while, truly cringe everytime she is on screen, she isnt even on shape for the role she is doing, not realistic at all.
Pronunciation police here. It's Jason Nesmith (/nesmiθ/), but even more importantly, the Doctor's biggest foes are the Daleks - pronounced dah-lek, not daylek (/dʌ'lek/)
S5 and 6 lost the core essence of the show. Did anyone give a fk about the belts war driven thru some fkhead wanka who should've been spaced in an earlier season
They didn’t mention the cool part about Avasarala’s contact list. They are all characters that have been re-casted to different actors at some point. Sir Gregor Clegane was re-casted 3 times. Arjun, her husband was re-casted in season 4. Vivian Banks was recasted after the original actress became too much to handle. And Dr Who has had a couple recasts itself.
It is mindboggling how you guys keep messing up this type of video so badly. Just show the footage in the video of what you are talking about while you are talking about it. Is that really so difficult? Oh, and maybe brief your narrator at least a litle bit on how to pronounce stuff. Thank you.
I am utterly shocked you let this video get produced. I'm not usually a stickler for stuff like this but I damn. The actual one name you should get right on pronunciation is the main ship. One, just one damn video on anything of that series and you'll know the pronunciation but no you just decided to wing it.
I feel like there's a good story to be told about Filip going off and becoming a monk on meditation retreat in the outer planets for the rest of his life. Would make a good sub-plot to explore some philosophical and spiritual themes.
ok, i dig the video but for all that is holy, it is getting very hard about halfway through to deal with all the miss pronunciations of the names and ships just words all together. sorry
I almost punched my screen 10 times listening to this! This mess of a video should be titled: 50 ways to butcher names of ships and characters even when they're right there on screen.
Well, you pronounced "The Expanse" right, at least. Also, this video could have easily been half the length if you cut out all the fluff and bad jokes.
I enjoyed the video, but winced every time the narrator mispronounced a ship name. “Ross-eee-an-tee”?? “Ska-poo-lee”? There was one more bad one that escapes me. I’m sure that the narrator is just a voice actor, not a fan, but geez, it was painful to listen to. I was kicking myself for not picking up on the names of the drop troops - Hicks and Hudson? Duncan Idaho? How could I have missed that?
Please, next time, add the correct footage to the sentence you're talking about, not show random scenes and talk over them. This feels really cheap and it's hella confusing.
