The Expanse 2x13 "Calibans War" Full REACTION 

Both S1 and S2 are so good at creating a season finale, despite it’s not at a book ending. Both show great wins, but also show that there is still a lot of unresolved stuff without feeling like cliff hangers.

I love Cotyar's sense of humor in a dire situation. I'll try to bleed slower. Great character.

Wes and Ty (Ty Franck, one half of James SA Corey) have a RU-vid podcast, "Ty and That Guy," that is pretty fun and interesting. They brake down each episode of The Expanse and have some interviews with the cast and production team. Something worth checking out after you finish the series.

The Arboghast being pulled apart is a game-changer. It instantly reminded me of those "exploded" diagrams you can find for engines and such things. It's important to remember that the main thing we've seen the protomolecule do up to this episode is learn through various methods of study. Think what it could learn from studying a disassembled ship like that.

Something you wouldn't have noticed at the time: When Bobbie's squad had been wiped out on Ganymede and the creature was hovering above her, you probably remember the drone hovering above them. A red light blinked on the drone, then something in the creature's chest began to glow. Bobbie turned away as it exploded. Here, the Roci's scan system tells Prax that it's a failsafe device. But the creature seems to know about it, and rips it out before it can be activated. Mao's guards were soft and lazy. Smirking instead of immediately acting. That handy warhead was the one they'd removed from the torpedo to hide the Protomolecule sample. If you recall, as the Somnambulist was launching from Ganymede and being challenged by the Martians, Naomi was checking on that torpedo on her computer screen. That was when she sent the coordinates to Johnson. Prax may have wanted to get a good look at the creature, but he also had to wait until the last possible moment before tossing the warhead. If he'd tossed it too soon, it would have gone out of reach and the creature would have gone back toward the reactor. One thing, though, is that only Mao...and now Johnson...have the Protomolecule. Mao told Avasarala that he hasn't yet given it to either Mars or Earth...he's still using it as his bargaining chip. They gave us enough information to know where Strickland and Mei were.

As much as I love Naomi, she's been lying to the entire crew for quite some time, and I can't ignore that.

Amos is a tasty hunk of meat and you were understandably distracted! 😂

I can understand Naomi's logic, and it's more than likely that there is more PM out there -- remember what the science lady who died on Ganymede said: "There's lots more where she came from". HOWEVER.. her deception of the rest of the crew, hiding the PM instead of firing it into the sun, and then giving it to Fred, is a big betrayal of trust. Recall what James was up to recently, going all Captain Ahab on the PM creature in the Ag dome. This show's heroes are human, and they have flaws. Can't wait to see where this beautiful, tangled mess goes next!

This episode really helps show that Amos has fully moved his moral compass over from Naomi to Jim.

I always find it funny when I see a show or movie and someone says "You've been shot" and the person is surprised. Like, WTF, how do you not know you've been shot? Like, a human being will notice stepping on the smallest lego that exists but you're going to try to tell me they can't notice when they've been shot???? I don't think so.

In this review you predicted something that doesn't come to fruition in the story until the books that are farther in the timeline than the last season of the show. Made my eyes pop when you said it. The books are incredible. I think the series does a good enough job that you could maybe get away with just reading the last 3 mainline books after you finish the show to finish the story. Some of the characters that get combined/switched around might be a tad confusing, but there's a large time jump between the 6th and 7th books, and most of those characters are gone. That final trilogy of the series may be the most fascinating part of it all to me, and so I think everyone who fell in love with the show should read them. Oh, and if you're someone who loves to read anyways, you should definitely just read the whole series and novellas, by the third book there are quite a few differences between the mediums.

_The Expanse_ portrays humanity somewhat more realistically than say _Star Trek_ . This show has us humans constantly fighting, even in the future, and I think that describes us in reality very well.
