Interviewer: “Why is college so expensive” That guy: “They are expensive to run” And then acting like that’s a complete answer. The real question is “why are they so expensive to run” but I guess they want to just gloss over that part
It is run by the plantation owners, every university has its foundation that consistently have the same megacorporate representatives. These are the people who decide who you get to vote for on the ballot s.
Why aren't young people succesfull? "Well boomer parents, cost of housing, cost of education, lack of good paying jobs and pensions gone have made things a tiny bit difficult"
I graduated college in 2019. I did it all by myself, joined americorps (got a scholarship of 5500) then graduated in 3 years with a 4 year degree and earned 16000 in scholarships. Still pay 200 a month and it’s extremely difficult given rent in my area had literally more than doubled in the last 4 years and is now 1600 a month. It feels like no matter how hard you work it’s impossible to make it if you are a Zillenial
Exactly. Cost is up by 200%, more at some colleges. You can have several scholarships and grants, work multiple jobs, and still have difficulty paying. I’m in college now. I’m around 25,000 in debt which is pretty good for a senior but I’m planning to get a phd or attend vet school which will costs significantly more.
Education should be a right . The state should facilitate the cultivation of knowledge the same way politicians enjoy high salaries and trifling benefits
You are sure right. European countries can teach the US a lot about human rights and equality of opportunity. Capitalism has its place in the marketplace, but not in human socialization. Student fees should not be beyond the reach of the many. Education should level the playing field.
High school is free and on a national level only 25 percent of HS graduates are proficient at both math and English. Why should the government was any money on college? If your degree is not in STEM, it is a useless degree in the 2000s
Ever wonder why we pay MORE for the medical drugs we fund with tax dollars? We pay the highest compared to other countries even though our tax dollars fund the creation. Crooked politicians doing the bidding of million and billionaires. Should've voted Bernie Sanders
You’re missing a key point liar, public schools are “free”. Nothing is free so wake the f up. Private schools cost money, private colleges cost money. County colleges cost next to nothing.
In Scotland, university is free for citizens. Almost every Scottish citizen has a Masters Degree. In Japan, university executives will invest your tuition and give it back to you after you graduate, to show how smart they are. If an educational business is just a money pit why jump into it?
@@DoorTrash: It's nice to be truly educated. It makes for a more co-operative and generous society. The native language of Scots is Gaelic. Scottish people invented the encyclopedia, the Encyclopedia Britannica, in English, so Europeans could see the natives of the new world weren't just running dogs with no language or prayer, worthy of genocide. Scots also gave the world the Holy Bible in English, the King James version, so Europeans could see what Jesus of Nazareth was saying, not what Catholic priests told them in Latin translations, and sending your best-looking altar boys to Rome wasn't in there. That started the Crusades that brought the Holy Roman Empire down. You can see what being knowledgeable and sharing it can do.
Spain have so many high academic graduates. There is not jobs enough for them. Refuses to take regular jobs. Northern Europe through EU pay their bills.
I like how they say "average difference of a million dollars if you go to college". But going to college to study something as pointless as art is not going to make you the same amount of money as studying something like engineering. Only go to college if the field you want to pursue actually requires it in all honesty I see people who go that end up becoming baristas, waiters or even musicians.
If you want the experience of being an art major and money isn’t a problem, then, by all means do it. Just know that, yeah, the job opportunities aren’t that great once you graduate.
@@Veachie College is expensive because of how the federal government has made it incredibly easy to get student loans. Where because of that people are able to enroll in college in droves increasing demand for higher education and when you start having more demand for something the price for it goes up. Now if the federal government stopped guaranteeing student loans college enrollment would drop and universities would be forced to lower tuition costs. Now to your point about getting a BA then what that tells me is that job doesn't truly require the intellect of what you learned from that degree program. Because in reality you don't learn much of any practical on the job skills while you are in school. Most of everything that you learn you will never really apply unless your like a STEM major where I don't see the point of studying something as pointless as film studies when your not learning skills you care about applying when its time to work. Meaning you could have built a career in something else and not gone into debt, even if you study something practical like accounting and don't go into it I would argue that is a better college career move then studying poems and pre-historic history that you can learn for free online or at any public library. Because at least with real practical college majors there is ambition among the students in wanting to get a job and work hard to earn that degree. Which is why practical majors have you study way more then many stupid liberal arts degrees. Because your more likely to get a job right out of college from these harder more practical majors then you are with liberal arts degree where you learn hardly nothing real world.
I checked a few weeks ago at my school, and it's been going up $2000-$3000 per year every year. 42k when I started, 48k when I left a few years ago, now it's 56k... How can people continue to get squeezed?
You can take an offer from another school to negotiate a tuition reduction at another school. PArents don’t be afraid to ask! We got our daughter in state tuition at an out of state school !!!!!
As long you're eligible for tuition grant and financial aid or rich, you are good. otherwise go to a community College. Explore and learn ways to make money, and money makes money, save, invest, minimalist, alternative living.
Get a degree that can get you employed would be a great start to laughing at college costs once you start making dough to pay it back. Need based financial aid can cover a huge part of in-state.
I'm a Canadian in Quebec. Our two most well-known English language Universities in Montreal are McGill and Concordia. For US, going to either of them is about 2300$ CDN per semester...And McGill, if its was an American university, would be considered IVY league. There IS something to be said for taking care of your citizens. You allow EVERYONE to get ahead.. Not just the rich and the ultra-gifted. I personally, went to Laval U in Quebec city. Its been around since the mid 1600s. NOT too shabby.. Back in the mid 90s, it cost me peanuts to go to school.. Like everyone with the minimum grades to get in their programs.. On TOP of that, everyone that isn't filthy rich, gets the same government backed student loans and in my case (and MANY others), bursaries you never have to pay back.. The loans do NOT start to get interest on them or need to be repaid, until the END of your student life, even of its 30 years down the road, after 2 masters and a Ph. D. and you are ASSURED the minimum rate. When a country WANTS its people to succeed, it gives them the tools to do it...
@@canadianaviator wow thats some bad advice... not everyone going to be smart like bill gates to the point of skip schools. and did u know some jobs like doctors require a degree yes?
Who is paying 6 figures in 4 years though. Unless you go to Harvard or Yale. I agree you can talk down the administrators though. Most people don’t even try to talk down goods or services other than houses & cars
Just viewed a pod cast about available scholarships and the 40 yrs of unchecked college tuition hikes and a 20% graduation rate hired in their professional earned field-the fact of matter the US has been leaning towards increasing its working class to rebuild America, refill the military, trade schools, community colleges and employment will be a trade for direct social support that will be greatly reduced after the Executive or Legislative powers that be changes.
Figure out what your gift is and start a business.....(Proverbs 18:16 Your Gift Will Make Room For You) You will make millions without borrowing thousands which may impossible to pay back 🤷🏽♂️
Education like everything costs. Supplies &textbooks are required in a syllabus course . Students beware ed plans are the guidelines to follow-up on continuum. 📚 🖥 Studiously!😊
Lol.....you pay a quarter of a million over four yrs , to earn potentially a million dollars during your career. Ok , but why are the students still incredibly naive and lacking in basic history , geography and geopolitical issues. Jay Leno anyone....lol Peace
I'm 37 and a high school dropout and I own 3 businesses I started a mobile car wash and now own a pressure cleaning business and just recently started a land scapping business all 3 I was able to start with used equipment
Kids today "Yeah but college was cheaper when you went" Me "Yeah but we didn't need a safe space, a Dean of diversity and inclusion nor did we have to support the pay checks for professors teaching black studies, gender studies or lesbian dance theory. But you cry if you don't get those things, so yeah your college costs more!"
@@nonamewillbegiven8838 Dude you're defending DEI staff at college, that tells everyone what kind of idiot you are. You're the kind of person that thinks they're better than the electrician that's cutting your power because you couldn't pay your bill, just because you went to college.
