I was about 12 in '83 and a mate (in durban South Africa) had a cassette and said listen to this shit my sister brought home. It was the most beautiful sound I ever heard. Never imagined I'd get to see them nearly 30 years later in Johannesburg... and at almost 40 years of age, I moshed my fucking head off for 2 hours 😂. Came out with a few injuries but no gig before and no gig in future will be as special as that night. Fuck yeah!!!!
saw the original line up few times & first 2 albums were great but they have been a shit Thrash Metal band for most of their existence inc now about 20 years ago or so Wattie was into Rave he used to go to Rave clubs in Holland etc Big John brilliant guitarist played in Nirvana for a bit aswell he came out as being Gay
hahaha oh my god ffs you idiot you honestly don't understand do you how old are you about 15? what an idiot you are ffs Thrash Metal(pretending to be punk & they are a cartoon punk band any way) have good day at school won't you
@@honourethefire5794 Yeah, changed to heavy trash metal. When Watties Mohawk for front cover was perfekt, made by Hairstyler and they sounded like mecrapica.... UK 82 as Soundtrack for "Made in Britain" with young Tim Roth were their best times. Still light years away from Sid & Nancy Shmonzette movie
Rhythmn guitarist. Gave Horror Epics a flick thru, 4 years ago. Different line up, different production. My Exploited thing is the first 2 lps and all the singles pre '83. Got everything there (studio) on CD plus the Anarchy from Oi! But i can't play Rival Leaders on guitar. That gave me problems.
@@Kelly14UK yeah, Horror Epics is really different than their other stuff, it had such a... I don't know... different amazing sound. Then I ran out and got lets start a war, and had to mail order the other stuff. I still dream of the day that Wattie kicks billy bob from greengay ass
FUcking hell it's 2024....I remember first hearing of them in 1990/91....right along with a fucking war teared thru my country I couldn't tell you which blew me away more
I was a bit overdue for the exploited because of my age but came across them in the early 2000s,in middle school. They drove my love for punk through the roof and are still one of my favorite bands from the times. Also helped piss off the emo kids that were on the rise then.
Me and my little brother likes The Exploited. Got their compilation CD singles and rarities. Love their early stuff and later stuff in the 80's. The Exploited really got me into playing bass cause of Gary and Wayne. Great punk band
Everyone loves the Exploited. Punks, skinheads, straight edge (closeted fans), metal heads, Oi boys, hardcore fans, cross over fans, and pop punk fans. They should have had way more success but they didn’t seem to give a shit. They loved what they were doing!
Saw em in 92 in Miami Beach with Biohazard and Type-o-Negative. One of the craziest shows ever. Would love to see em again after so many years. Will never stop listening to these 82 classics
Remember seeing The Exploited somewhere, possibly Newcastle, and a load of Hibernian lads harangued Wattie non-stop throughout the gig from the front of the stage, because he supports their rivals Hearts. It was constant "Wattie ya fu(king jambo (unt" and "Wattie ya jamtart wanchor" for a solid hour, he definitely wasn't amused, put him off a bit
I have been listening to THE EXPLOiTED Since '88! One of my first favorite bands...How long has it been since their last album? About 20 years...? Let's hear a new one ! No ballads please.
I saw them on the Let's Start A War tour when I was 14, fast forward 35 years and my most recent gig was Steely Dan, both bands are quite similar when you think about it.
Seen the guys many times , fun times back in the day in and around Edinburgh, sniffing glue in Princes Street gardens. ...the original barmy army, we would travel into the city and create hell. ..the Exploited were just some of the guys to us Oi! Oi! Oi! That would have been about 1980-82 ish
Still see Big John when he's over fae the Dam,wullie was a good guy when we were Happy Humpers, gave a lift tae wullie on my Royal Enfield a few times to dae gigs, cool people,be yer ain selves...
@@manicmedia7714 was the best of times mate an army of punks, skins and Herbert's as far as the eye could see. ..still a skin to this day and proud of it. ......gonna grow old disgracefully
Seen them in Edinburgh when I was 14. We were from S.Q and we would get to the gig, get in ort not, and walk 11 miles home cause the last bus was shit as 11 O'clock. Edinburgh was wild at this time. Quick shout out to the Shattered Family from Edinburgh too at this time. Anyway. Hitler's in the charts again.
As I grew up with this band...All the Punks I knew had to wear at least a patch, buttons and shirt. Because the imagery was cool. But in reality nobody liked their musik. At least the guys I knew. I don't know why. It is a great and somewhat underrated band. My first LP...When I was 14...20years ago,Was let's start a war...said Maggie one day. I still own it. And any other Exploited LP followed over the years. Exploited Live always is a kick in the arse. Credits for constantly touring anyway. Despite Watties health problems. This band gets much hate from some people. Too metal / hardcore for some punks and to punk for the rest ha ha. Hope there will be a new album anyway. Wattie told something about a few years ago. Hope this will happen.
Bought it in '86, didn't get into it (bootleg quality for a 17 year old novice), but a few years ago i jammed to one or two. It's not bad. Think it was Dojo records that published it. Turned out their song arangements are every bit as good as Pistols, Subhumans and early Damned.
Somewhere in the mid 80's in Edinburgh they attacked the backing band 'Shattered Family', also from Edinburgh/S.Q/Kirky, and tear gassed their van and then hit them with bats as they ran out. I think it was cause one of the Shattered boys were bangin' one of the Exploited's girls...
Muistan Suistomaan soittopäiviltä Suomen Porissa kun Wattie tuli lavalle ja potkaisi kaksi vispipuuro pakkausta yleisöön jonka jälkeen kaaos oli valmis.kasarina siis😮
We'd sit with them in Edinburgh at the west end, on the steps of an old record store in what must have been 1982 or 83. (Can't mind the name.) Big John would take the piss out of my skinhead Slade tee shirt or my Burning Spear T. Shirt and Wattie would slap him. I mean, skelp him a fucker. 🤣 I was just a kid and he was kinda' always like a big brother to everyone. He looked out for kids. He liked the fact I didn't know their music.
colin gross nope not for me I’m 16 what got me into punk was The Casualties then found The Exploited, got their singles and rarities on CD. Sure I wear me boots and spike my hair but it’s not about the fashion I mean sure it gives expression but theirs more to punk than just the clothes. Love the music and all about it really but the toxic part about it like Boneheads and all that
How could you compare the Exploited to the pistols? No comparison. Its as though the Exploited were an extinction of the pistols. What a joke! All they had was the image of that period in time. Shock value.
@@skinheadyouth66 ..though l have seen many amazing bands/gigs in my lifetime, and l loved the exploited when l was 12 in 82(l still have a soft spot fer em)..l would like to see em live before l (or wattie) dies but 15x..?
The public's idea of punk. This is the image that has stuck. A descent into stereo-types, archetypes and self-parody. Did anyone see hair-cuts like this on the (early) Pistols, Buzzcocks, Undertones, Clash? I blame Sidney Viscous. Wattie makes John Lydon look like Byron.
