The man has a job that he’s passionate about and either has no concern about the “honey I shrunk the kids” situation as the rodent has 4 people on its back or that maybe it’s 4 actual size humans and the rat is the size of a small Buick. The man has a job and is dead set on completing it.
I remember riding this years ago and it was my favorite ride. So much fun in the dark!! However, it is scary to think of something going wrong since you are completely in the dark during it
Hahhahhhahha yeah I’ve definitely been wedged into this ride before. Not fun and can’t do anything once you realize. One of my favorites, thanks for watching!
I heard on another video that the exterminator this year apparently had some more lighting elements and it’s a bit brighter in there. In previous years like this video it was pretty dark but the video always makes it darker.
Man it's a shame to see so much of this ride not working. There used to be so much suspense and atmosphere build up with alarms and tvs and a little story line with radios while you were in line. The red button used to set off alarms and radio chatter and fake news stories and all that. All of the electronics did something and there were giant rats all over. I've been on this ride so many times with long lines and no lines and when it all worked standing in line was almost as fun as the ride itself. It was so well done and so much fun.
Agreed. I appreciated the atmosphere, there was something immersive about the queue. A fake news report ran on the TVs, there was lights and sounds and the button worked. I just saw a picture that they removed all the machines from that back wall. It’s just not the same for me. Hoping they are gonna fix it, but that seems unlikely.
I hope somebody donates a bunch of money to fix it up to it's former glory. It's such a unique and fun ride. Definitely my favorite, probably of all time.
I can understand that! I didn’t know what to expect the first time, not sure anyone did! The inside the building was mysterious, you couldn’t gauge what you were getting into!
I went on this for the first time yesterday with my friend and it was a lot of fun. I started to slide around at the first this so he held on to my hand. When we started going fast I closed my eyes. It was a ton of fun though.
@@TomWasHereOnRU-vid Thanks for subscribing! Also, I want to apologize for the lack of an on-screen caption. Something happened during the rendering process and the caption "Media by TomWasHere" didn't show up in the video. I did however credit you and add a link to your video in the description.
That’s one of their newer rides so I’m guessing it stays put for a good while! Plus it has its own building, that’s probably a whole other process to remove! I think it’s safe.
A bold statement but I hold this ride in high regard as well, can’t fault you for saying it. The 4 hour wait is brutal though. I think the most I waited was 2.5 hours during the first few days of opening.
Yes indeed, that’s awesome. I always forget how long that that ride has been around. Glad this video brought back some good memories, thanks for watching!
Yeah, I see some other comments talking about being wedged. I had to go on this ride with one other person who sat on the other side of me, and all I remember was being tossed around, XD. They had seatbelts in the carts, but I guess they did away with that saying the carts are always moving, and they don’t want anyone getting stuck getting in or out. Other than that, it’s a really well put together ride. c:
Yeah I’m sure he cars were set up to hold 4 max and with 4 depending on the sizes of those 4 people, it could hold you pretty secure. However with 2, you can definitely bounce around a bit. Great ride though either way! Thanks for watching!!!
Well it’s not overly big nor is it overly fast. The drops feel like more than they are because a lot of the ride is in poor darkness as well as that you are spinning at the same time. I would say it’s about the speed of the musical express. Some sudden turns and a couple drops. I’ve been trying to convince my son of the same. I wouldn’t overly worry about it! I think you’ll be fine, but what are you afraid to ride in the park? That will help to gauge! Let me know how it goes!
Man, that track was real squeaky when it was spinning! Sounds like they need to do some work on it. Love this ride. I remember one year riding it 4 times because the line was short.
Yeah it definitely got squeakier as the years passed, I remember when it opened how long the lines were and then there was a time when it was walk on, and now it seems the lines are really long again.
@@TomWasHereOnRU-vid Yeah, it was fairly new one year when I went and remember riding The Whip and then just standing around waiting for my friends and dad to get off because the line was so long. The lines are still really long still to this day. I was just at Kennywood on Saturday and the line for Exterminator extended well out of the queue line and was backed to where the Whip line was. So, I didn't ride it.
You remember what that button does?! I’ve been trying to figure it out for years, I was so convinced something would happen when I pushed it as a kid 😭
I do remember actually, it would set off a siren in the room and lights would start to flash. The problem is that everyone pushed it so it was constant sirens in the room
I don’t know why but the animal on the wall at the very start (after the lift hill), I always thought it was a bear head on the wall 😂😂I wear glasses but I always take them off when I ride so that is also probably why I thought it was a bear head
Hahahahaha I’m sure without glasses it’s looks like a bear head. The rides theme is the exterminator so I always assumed it was like a rat or some rodent!
It doesn’t spin the entire time but I would say it’s definitely teacup level for the 2nd half. It’s also in complete darkness so that may be better or worse depending.
@@TomWasHereOnRU-vid Thanks. I'm going soon and wasn't sure if I should spend the time going on it if I wouldn't like it but I'll maybe have to try it out
I’m sure Kennywood removing rides had something to do with that line getting longer. It was never a walk on, but it shouldn’t be more than a 20-30 minute wait. Also, sadly the queue stuff hasn’t worked for a long time.
Not exactly, - it’s more like a wild mouse but in a building. It gets darker about halfway through, and starts to spin, the ride vehicle starts spinning like a teacup ride, some cars spin more than others.
@@TomWasHereOnRU-vid is it a constant spin i dont wanna get sick ...i am scared of roller coasters but people say this one is very small drops so i may give it a shot.
There is a lift here that makes it feel really high, but it doesn’t really, the drops are not really far at all, there are two bigger drops, I would say the biggest drop is maybe 15-20 feet, it feels further because of the darkness but it isn’t.
The second time I went on with my high school friends they put it on max speed and it spin us we all were screaming laughing having fun but then all of the sudden it spin us I don’t remember being spin
I didn’t realize that the lines have been so long as of late. Didn’t help that Kennywood removed 4 rides that would take some people out of that line. Yeah I love the ride, but when the line is too long, it ruins it
Really? It’s buried in the back of the park in lost Kennywood although now that I think about it, if you don’t know that it’s there, it may be tough to find.
Question, what did the button used to do in the wait line? I love the exterminator and was always way to short to push it, even when others did it didnt do anything.
It would set off an alarm and a siren would light up. I think they killed the alarm early on, maybe even after the first season. I believe th e siren would still light to for a while, but now it doesn’t do anything unfortunately.
@@TomWasHereOnRU-vid ah that makes sense! It may he a fever dream but I sort of remember that. Or maybe I had it so properly visualized that I could imagine it so vividly. I remember the light and stuff though. Thanks for reminding me! (They may have killed it for people who have active nervousness and stuff like that.)
Yeah I think what happened was that everyone was hitting the button, so that siren was constantly going off. In a line with a long wait. That siren would be going off constantly for an hour plus wait. I do remember people actively groaning after a while because of it. It would be nice if it still did a little something but maybe not set an alarm off.
@@TomWasHereOnRU-vid yeah true. The whole ride is pretty worn down though. Maybe they could implement a 20 minute tree wait on the button push (putting code in for that wouldn't he to hard. When button is pushed sound off siren. Wait 20 minutes despite the button getting pushed.) This way it would seem less painful to bare through. One of these summers they gotta go through and update rides and not just give them a mandatory check.
Five Diamond Productions The siren still goes off, it just doesn’t go off right as you push the button. People like me believe that now it has to be pressed a certain number of times before it goes off due to how loud it is. Don’t want to scare the kids every second, lol.
@@TomWasHereOnRU-vid Yeah the first time I rode it, I didn’t know it had a line indoors so I was like “finally I’ve been waiting so long” only to see another slower moving line inside
@@dwaboutitlilbro that is the big trick for first timers, getting In the building is only half the battle and that Inside line sucks so much. It’s so much slower than outside.
It was on opening day, out of the building. However at least you know it’s bad when it’s outside. Sometime you go inside and stumble into that full line on the inside unexpectedly
Hahhahhaha I can certainly understand that, having filmed it I can see that you are able to see some of it, but I can also confirm that most of the 2nd half is pure darkness.
Well it is a ride that more than half of it spins in pure darkness. I think for those that have rode it, the sounds and well the darkness feels like being on it. Truthfully, I wasn’t sure how many people would watch it because of that but it’s climbing close to 10k at the moment!
That button must have been on longer than I thought. I thought it was there for only a few years and then they shut it off, but it must have been longer than that!
