It's finally here! The Nirvana In Utero Veleno that Kurt Cobain used to record In Utero. This guitar is rare and belonged to Steve Albini that was brought along to the recording session at Pachyderm Studio. This has been a journey building one for myself, and I'm so glad to finally share it with you all.

Cobain was so ahead of his time. I had no idea what i was hearing in 7th grade. Now at 42 i am still in awe. What an artist.

Yeah i'm about the same age and remember exactly when i heard Teen Spirit for the first time. Everything at that time was leftover 80's music or that early 90's pop-ish music. When Teen Spirit hit it was like wtf is thisssss, haha. I remember getting out of bed and calling the little radio station here to ask what the hell band that just was. Good times. RIP Kurt

Aaron... Dude I just have to say thank you for all the blood, sweat and massive amounts of cash you've put into actually decoding/demystifying Kurt's various guitar sounds over the years. You have single handedly done more to bring that knowledge to all of us. Fucking incredible work from the a-symmetric distortion of the quad with a missing tube to actually building the secret guitars of In Utero… There is no one else even close to what you've done. I've always wanted an aluminum guitar since hearing Buzz, SunnO)) and Albini! You did an amazing job building your own. Selling some of them is an incredible idea and will make people who would never get to play, much less see one a reality! I've always wanted to make a jaguar or mosrite shaped one as they're my 2 fav body shapes. Hopefully, someday I'll have the money to do my own or buy one from you. Anyway, great work, bro! Dont stop living the dream, homie!

Dang it would be wild if you made the headstock a “U” shape (instead of “V”) and called it the “Utero” still paying homage but incorporating that otherworldly “UFO” feel that it embodies. Truly incredible job you did on this, it’s a work of art

I'm voting 🗳 U as well..!! You'd better do this vote over now that the U has been mentioned. The "Utero" is much much better dude! Because it's from that album that matches that guitar. And sorry to say, but the "Kurt" is kind of lame. Sorry buds.

Steve still has the guitar that Kurt used and it’s available for anyone to use if you book time at his studio. I used it for all the guitar overdubs on the EP I recorded up in Chicago with Steve. Was a very cool moment for me as a huge Kurt fan. Steve said the pickups had been changed since Kurt used it but other than that it’s “the one” Kurt used

When I was in my mid teens I had a VHS copy of Nirvana Live Tonight Sold Out. Pausing over and over on the right spots I eventually figured out how to play a power chord, and that set me on my way from there. So Kurt inspired me to play guitar, I know what you mean.

Your first video of this "tone-chase" was randomly brought up in my recommendations only a few days after uploading and I watched EVERY single video since then. I am absolutetely obsessed with that tone and watching you not only recreating but also making the tone available for others is so awesome! Your video production is insane as well. I like to come back to some of your video intros just to vibe with the music. If you ever plan to release your original music in that style and with that sound, I am absolutely down for that!!! Thank you so fxcking much Aaron for your hard work, dedication, motivation and just overall for everything you put into that. It has brought me so much joy and I am more than happy to hear that you will continue to make videos after this journey. Stay strong, King!

Even as a little 10-year-old I knew there was something special about the In Utero sound. I had played many guitars and was mesmerized that Kurt's sound was so different. Of course, the Kurt sound was ALWAYS distinct on every recording. But that In Utero sound is totally different.

Congratulations on the end of the journey! I’ve been following you from the beginning. Back in the yearly 00’s we had no idea how Nirvana tones were made. Literally no idea, there was no such information at all. Hell, the internet was in the early stages of development. And now, thanks to you, we finally know everything! And it wasn’t simple as we’ve been told the whole time! In fact, a lot of rare stuff was involved (like speakers and guitars) to make these tones. You did a fantastic job man, you really deserve the credit. Big love from a lifetime Nirvana fan ❤

I think you might be more gifted a film maker than you know... this video made me feel something. You more than successfully communicated your love, passion for the subject matter. A good film maker successfully communicates a feeling, a great film maker doesn't communicate the desired emotion, he makes the viewer feel it themselves. I felt it. I don’t know how much of a fan you are of Steve Albini’s music, but if you wanted to start another chapter I would suggest trying to replicate his amplifier, the Tapco/Intersound IVP, which stands for “instrument voicing preamplifier.” The only other famous guitarist known to use one was Bob Weir, but it was the key to Albini’s chainsaw-against-sheet metal guitar sound. It is an iconic guitar sound, probably my favorite ever. (And if you could produce affordable replicas, that would be awesome.)

Hi, yes I'm aware. In the beginning, I was originally going to buy one but 9K for a single guitar that was out of my price range. They also made several changes compared to the original ones like hollowing out the neck, bolt on nut, I think some body design changes and improvements. Don't get me wrong, they look like awesome guitars and I'd love to play one, but I wouldn't exactly call them accurate to the originals, more like a modern revised version. This would all be cool for me, but I was going for a specific early original veleno used on in utero.
