The Eye of Horus is one of most easily recognisable symbols from ancient Egypt, and most of us know that it is definitely protective, or at least a positive thing. In this video, I try to give you a deeper appreciation behind the complex web of associations that come with this profoundly meaningful symbol.

Kevin’s comment under photo:
Note: This eye of this falcon is not actually injured. Because lanner falcons can reach speeds of 150mph/240km, they have this membrane called the “nictitating membrane” that they blink with to moisten and protect their eyes, and this is what you see in this photo.

Love this channel! Could you do a series on the major gods to discuss the major events in their lives and their role in Egyptian life? (Also, blessings on you and your family as you go through healing.)

Bravissimo!

Wow I Found this video trying to get clarification for the eye of horus symbol for our mothers headstone. She tragically passed out of the blue in July. Ancient Egypt was a love of hers and she had a tattoo of the eye. The part in your story about 1/64 something will always be missing and the end when you talked about your own recent hardship, that really hit home. Thankyou

I'm so sorry for your terrible loss ... She will live on in your actions, behaviour, and everything else good she taught you and those close to her. I'm touched to hear that my video could help you, no matter how little! And please don't forget to take care of yourself during this difficult time.

You are most welcome! :) And I'm very sorry for responding so late! What do you mean? Are you referring to his resurrection, or the Opening of the Mouth ritual in general?

@@egyptologistanswers441 No problem, thank you for being cooperative. I think I want to know some specific rituals being performed for the Osiris Ani, Osiris God as he previously mentioned in some educational books e. g ( Wallis Budge, Hayes, etc... )

Thank you so much. Now it seems I needed to not only listen to this but also bear this in mind. This makes me feel hopeful. The depth, philosophy and charm of Egyptian culture is mesmerizing. Thanks for your passionate introduction of the topic and a bigger thanks for explaining and clarifying everything in detail. I wonder if the word “heru” - the distant one - as I heard you pronounce it can have any connection with the Armenian word sounding likewise and meaning far, distant or remote. Perhaps, it’s a borrowing.

It's my pleasure! I can't express how much it means to me that you found it so interesting and enjoyed it so much! Unfortunately, it is almost certain that there is no relation between the ancient Egyptian word "heru," and the similar-sounding Armenian word with the same meaning. The geographical and chronological distances separating the two are simply too wide to allow for a direct borrowing. Another thing is that the pronunciation of the Egyptian word "heru" is, in fact, not known, so we don't have a real basis to make a comparison. I know that sounds strange, haha! I actually started typing the explanation for what I mean here, but it ended up being too long. I have therefore decided to make what I was going to say to answer your question the subject of my next video! I hope you like the idea! Thank you again so much for your very kind words, and it is truly humbling to know that I managed to do the subject of the video enough justice for you to appreciated it so deeply!

I love how you gave yourself into the naration of this presentation. And the story and sybolism was facinating, I think the principle of the self healing eye of Horus inspired me. The ancient egyptians must have a lot of life wisdom which got lost. I hope the process of Horus can restore more of this wisdom and give it a fool moon of completeness.

Thank you you so very much for the kind words ... It is truly humbling to know that anything I said could have inspired someone. This is the main reason I make my posts and videos, and to hear you say that fills me with great joy! And yes, by delving into ancient Egyptian religious texts, we are getting a glimpse of how some great minds from ancient Egypt viewed the world. I'll continue to make more videos on the subject!

The "intact" naming is very interesting. Compare that to classic Arabic naming the blind person بصير "seeing". They may refer to insightfulness.

Thank you , really love this explain- for these times of hate as it seems we are in stand still - yet - necessary to becoming a more wholeness. “ I GET IT NOW - THE ADAGE “TOWARD A MORE PERFECT” And so the waxing and weaning soon will be whole again - Question “ isn’t this also related to the golden ratio? Or the Euler exponential ????? - all ends up getting closer to ONE ! The EYE as symbol of the highest perspective - ILLUMINATION! I find this culture so UNIQUE - so intuitive artistic over all others …for why pyramid of Giza with such hidden codes? Already pi and phi understood! Number and geometrical concepts way conductors to the DARWIN THEORY of apes ! Maybe plato was hinting us- that a higher civilization like Atlantis existed and is not a myth for where does all this exactitude come from when all of Europe was pre Stone Age??? What was connecting these ancients with geodetic documentation of the systems of moveable and static constellations , as it so appeared in a platonic year 26, 980 year- in which other DISTANT PEOPLES SHARED SAMENESS IN MEASURE AND STRUCTURES ! BLOWS ME AWAY ESPECIALLY THE ART OF THE SUMERIANS EGYPTIANS - THANK YOU …..
