Then they spent millions of dollars to make a stealth post to prop the plane up so they could complete their studies.

@richardmillhousenixon
@richardmillhousenixon Год назад
Low poly isn't stealth in the same way blended shapes like the F-22 or the B2 are. The thing with low poly shapes is that if the radar isn't coming from head on, if it's just in the right (or wrong, depending on who's side your on) position, it is seeing a flat face, which gives a huge radar return. On planes like the F-22 or the B-2 there really aren't very many large flat faces to be able to reflect radar back at the source if it's not coming from straight on
@tidaltidaltidal

@@ParadigmUnkn0wn you better compare that radar cross section of f117 compared to f22. F117 wins this time
@ParadigmUnkn0wn

@@tidaltidaltidal no, it doesn't. F-117 Nighthawk has an RCS of 0.003m2, about the size of a hummingbird. The B-2 bomber has an RCS of 0.0001m2, the same as the F-22, the size of a bumble bee. The F-22 is far stealthier than the F-117 and unlike the F-117, that stealth doesn't disappear if the RADAR comes from the wrong angle.

Yea I heard they named it as the "f"117 when it should have been called the "b"117 due to them not wanting to push pilots away. They were nervous of good pilots not being attracted to flying it due to it being a bomber. So they technically called it a fighter so better more skilled pilots would fly it.. idk if that's true I heard this from a channel long time ago. You'd think any pilot would do anything to fly one even over there original f14s or 15s
@mattdugan2000
