THE FACELESS - In Solitude 

I don't care what sub-genre of metal this is. It's a fucking good song

When I used to live in Alaska, I loved listening to this song during the cold winter. I'd climb up about two miles up this hill, and you would see nothing but a blanket of snow. The view was worth it though. You could see the orange lights illuminating the whole city from below. It was always dark during the winter. Barely get any sunlight up there at that time. Breathing through your nose.. the best way to put it was it feeling like you had millions of crystals in your nose. It was beautiful, and the lyrics to this song really just made me get even more attached than that I originally was to this song. The memories of the dark winter really personified how I felt too. Never felt much happiness. Went through the struggle of letting go of religion, which I held onto so dearly. And throughout all of this, I was by myself. But fuck, this really makes me miss those beautiful white winters. The ending of the song really just fucking creates this beautiful harmony at the end. I wish I could really just show everyone exactly how it feels to look down from a vantage point listening to that outro. It is an indescribably amazing feeling I don't really like this kind of music anymore, but this song is a fucking masterpiece, and I still enjoy it today. Probably one my favorite closing tracks of all time.

The intro always put me in tears. This shit is beautiful.

I was going to college when this album came out. I remember driving at night between there and home while listening to this song. This whole album is nostalgic for me even though it’s only like 7 years old. One of my all time favorites.

Masterpiece. This album took it in a whole new direction. Expanding their boundaries beyond anything I thought they were capable of.

Best technical deathmetal band.

Hands down my favorite from this album.

Although this is the last song on the album, this is probably the best song on the album. I fucking love it.

Chuck Schuldiner (Death) Michael Keene (The Faceless) Muhammed Suicmez (Necrophagist) Galder (Old Mans Child/Dimmu Borgir) Luca Turilli (Rhapsody) :P They are not only good technical guitarists. They are amazing composers and masterminds. This is what makes them unique. Thats why they are my favourite Let everyone else (Steve Vai, Michael Angelo Batio, Malmsteen...and the rest of the shredders) argue about speed and technique...

Progressive. The suddeness of the change in mood, pitch, tone, and style not only displays ability and knowledge of music, but has its own effects in terms of emotion and thought.

Along with Evan Brewer, the Faceless are the best Sumerian band.

IMO, Akeldama makes me want to go out and live life to the fullest. Autotheism makes me want to sit inside on a rainy day feeling sorry for myself

seriously dude I came on here just to ask if anyone else heard the similarity in those two. Kinda glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that. Both songs are awesome in their own right it just interested me when I heard that.

This sounds a ton like Dirge for November by Opeth (at least the intro does). That's good, nothing wrong with that! It is commendable to musically cite your influences. :^)

I remember 3-4 years ago I was listening to All Shall Perish, and The Faceless like everyday.

I have been a fan of them for awhile. I don't know how many times I have tried getting friends into their jams, I listen to this album I still hear The Faceless, its not nearly as heavy as Akeldama and Planetary but it still is the same band with new elements.

The Faceless, aging in a way that kind of reminds me of the changed that Opeth made with their sound over time. They are aging like wine, beautiful song and album! Michael Keene is a virtuoso.

I actually expected this band to be a sort of death metalish band, but I'm happily surprised :D

I think their old stuff is in a completely different category but they are both incredible in their own ways

Oh man, I can't even pick a favourite Opeth song. It's a tie between The Lotus Eater, Heir Apparent, Moonlapse Vertigo, Serenity Painted Death, The Baying of the Hounds and Dirge for November. As for The Faceless, it would be this song, since I'm still a new fan, but this song is really tight.

And Opeth sounds a little Bach, music is learned through generations.

Theres a lot of "trve" and 'real brutal" metal out there that is easily forgettable. This band has one core ingredient most dm bands dont have- catchy and memorable lyrics and riffs. I will always remember late 2012 and all the friends i used to have whenever i hear this album. very nostalgic.

And to top it off with that nice Holdsworth style synth at the end. :')
