Chason- the drummer that comes in and plays all parts as if he had written them. Usually throwing in something of his own. The mans mind is a marvel. Never have I watched someone play in so many bands with difficult drumming and absolutely annihilate it.
Love Alex Rudinger, but the fact is he never could pull off the part on 12:50 (with the left foot opening and closing the hi-hat while keeping the right foot constant on the bass) as Lyle Cooper did and now Chason Westmoreland does. It's amazing how someone can actually do that.
I've videos of him doing similar blasts where he would open and close his high hat, it's really not that hard. just because he didn't do it when you saw them play doesn't mean he can't do it.
Opening and closing the hi-hats is not difficult per se, lol. The difficulty of this specific part lies is the fact that he is playing 16th notes with his right foot *while* opening and closing the hi-hat with his left. Have you ever played drums? Alex himself said on a MetalSucks podcast that the Faceless had the most uncomfortable type of drumming he ever played because he couldn't manage to play at high tempos for long periods of time.
I've met him and was literally as nice as anyone gets. I mentioned I remember first seeing him playing his green Washburn at NAMM and hooked me up with free tickets that very night.
Damn it must suck or be a drag to constantly change musicians and constantly have to teach ppl your material. Michael Keene is pretty much the faceless and he is badass. He should just get a drum machine and record all the bass riffs and backing tracks and do his own thing. Im pretty sure he'd do awesome as a solo act.
it dosnt se odd to you that every band mate hes had has willingly quit? to me that says hes probably difficult to work with, dont you think? it isnt because they weren't up to parr with him because they are all great musicians.
R Saldivar Never said the musicians aren't good. The guy is brilliant and I am sure that most people that are hard to compose music with or work with in general are difficult to work with. Most of the greats were and are difficult to work with. But I highly doubt that is the case in this situation.
+Jonathan Sandoval well their new vocalist is actually an old one they had (rydquist) and brandon giffin their new bassist is a founding member so most of the band is back except for rhythm guitar and drums. they said their gonna drop a new album soon too
Lyle Cooper was, by far, the best drummer this band ever had. Don't get me wrong, Alex is AMAZING, but not for the Faceless, as he doesn't possess the same creativity (Lyle's writing is just too original and unique) and has issues maintaining this amount of speed for long periods of times (these are his words actually, listen to his interview on MetalSucks podcast).
Anyone who refers to Chason Westmoreland (ex-Hate Eternal, Fallujah, Oceano) as "this guy" should not be allowed to publicly display any type of opinion regarding drums.
dude i dig the fuck out of fallujah and oceano, all I'm saying is alex is more fit for specifically THIS style. Alex is a a little more consistent with the fast double bass stuff. Tech death is alex's specialty, fallujah and oceano seem to exhibit a way different feel than a band like the faceless...it's as simple as that
RockinDbop You didn't say anything like that at all, just "Alex is much better than this guy", but ok. Anyway, Alex is "more consistent", but we are used to watch his video uploads on RU-vid, obviously they will sound much cleaner and precise than this LIVE situation. And Alex didn't play everything as written, some parts he could not pull off, Chason does everything like Lyle wrote (I'm talking about that 12:50 part where Lyle would open and close the hi hat with his left foot, while keeping the bass drum constant with his right foot, which Alex never did).
Wow way to rip off a Devin Townsend riff at 05:20 listen to "the mighty masturbator" and "by your command" by DTP....that arpeggio riff. Keene is known to rip off from other bands
