Caspian is one of the most limited champions in Paladins. Here's my gameplay and build for one of the only viable ways to play him! Twitter ► / frost_fangs Instagram ► / frost.fangs Twitch ► / frostfangs #frostfangs #paladins
actually the melee works with measure cadence, but it takes more shots since measure cadence requires 6 ammo to work. the pistol consumes 3 ammo per shot, so you need 2 shots with the pistol, while the sword consumes about 1 ammo per shot (including the last hit, that looks like 3 hits but only consumes 1 ammo) so you need to shot 6 times with the sword to trigger measure cadence
Frosty, you need to use his sword. You shoot from a distance to get stacks then dive in and alternate attacks. Also, always remember if a target is low behind a shield, his dash can pierce
Oh boy I relate to this video. I tried so hard ot make Everywhere at Once work, but his dash does not work like you'd expect it to half of the time. The lockout plus inconsistent damage is insane. Sometimes I'll dash right on top of someone and nothing happens, then I'll dash towards someone whose just gone through a door and kill them through the window. I ended up settling on using Its Got Some Heft, by far my favourite playstyle on him 😃
I don’t know. Caspian for me just feels like the one character that clicks. He’s unique, fun to play, and has multiple options. Sure, people do things better than he does, but that’s paladins for you.
That’s not the point that is being made here. One dimensional, single build reliant, cluttered abilities, single busted must pick card and burst that is hyper specific. All things that equal bad character design and is not sustainable for a game.
@@hanzybb842 kinda sounds like you just described half the roster lmao I mean dont most heros rely heavily on their cards and only have a specific build they can use at higher ranks? Also I play on console which could effect it but I dont think that makes him any less good, in fact he may be built for console, talus and lex are and no one calls them bad designs when they actually kinda are lol not everything is gonna be viable on both console and pc and just because it doesnt work as well on pc doesnt mean it's a bad design 😂 that seems like a self centered way of looking at things.
I think if they made it so hitting an enemy with one weapon buffs the others' damage along with the current attack speed it could encourage comboing with both weapons instead of just using the gun
No sir, you are the real MVP here. At first, Caspian was expected to be a melee champion. Maybe some rework to "It's got some heft" (maybe some combos with the basic and the other abilities) It can bring different playstiles
I've personally spent a lot of time thinking about how they can fix Caspian, but considering how much EM downsized and, as Syberbolt already pointed out in his most recent video, how much ego either management or employees have over what THEY want out of the game instead of what it needs, we're not going to see any massive overhauls for Caspian anytime soon.
Imo the main Problem with Caspian is the clunkiness (Although thankfully they improved this a ton since his PTS time, especially with his movement) as well as the absolute inconsistency with his projectile speeds. It makes ZERO sense to have 6 different projectile speeds on his Q alone, not to mention his ult projectile and his Pistol having different speeds as well, it just feels like its trying to artificially make him harder despite him already being a decently hard to learn character. So, to fix him i would simply have his Q have 2 projectile speeds, one for having 0-4 stacks, maybe the one of 2 stacks currently, and keeping the 5 stack one as is, as well as simply either making his Pistol projectile speed the same as his ults or vice versa. I would also nerf his Q and ult damage while at it cause both are kinda ridiculous considering his weapons along are really strong when played well and he has hard CC even if short
@@nikolajovanovic1850 Either that or they did it to make him artificially more "skillfull" Simply nerfing the Q while making it more consistent really is the call here cause its just frustrating, having to learn 6 different speeds for his Q alone is dum
the sword actually triggers measured cadence, or at least it did a couple months ago. It's a little bugged or "janky" to use, sometimes you'll just slice through an enemy and the game won't consider it a hit, but when it works it's really good up close. Other than that, yeah, caspian's a "one trick pony", I remember I hated so much playing it the first time without the "insane movespeed deck". that card and the one that makes the pistol stacks self-sufficient are the goat
Frost you should try the sword talent too. If you are able to properly gain stacks from a distance and F in, to continue with sword strikes when you have the stacks, its quite strong and fun too.
I'm on a break from paladins, but I forgot how fast they release characters! I left right after Vll was released, but it doesn't feel like it's been long at all lol
Got to use the the card that will give him shields for 3 seconds from his gun stacks. You can have over 2900 HP for a while with veteran. Get a couple of shots in to build up stacks and shields and then rush with his sword
caspian has the same problem as tiberius, an overwhelming talent that bypass his others in utility, but with Caspian at least you can make builds that combo with his best talent, i would say Tiberius fits more on this title than him.
I was winning games in high plat with him before his buffs when everyone was saying he was trash, mind you I am on console but for console hes actually really good if you can play him, I also use everywhere at once and play purely melee. But for me he is an amazing champ. A hell of alot better then kasumi anyway lol
He's seriously the easiest flank for me to play on console. I feel like he was built for controller. Might grind his gold skin and use him in season 6 ranked
Yea I think he is too, I even said that to my friend that his kits designed to play alot like how I would play vora on console where I play very mid range as her and use the obliteration more as an evasive tool to juke, and I even found some tech using the grapple because theres a trick with the grapple that very few voras seem to know or at least be able to utilize but when you grapple to someone it actually bounces you above their head and allows for some really cool juking potential but as you rank up players fall for this less and less and it becomes alot harder to do but caspian is another flank with a fun mobility and melee like projectile that actually does excel at mid range, I think it's how I so easily swapped from vora to Caspian when he released because I was dumpstering players for a good week or two when he released and hes prob still my most reliable pick, vora is still a better pick on maps like frog isle and timber mill although I just dont like frog isle because I dont like snipers or playing snipers 😂 but yea caspian is honestly one of the better flanks on console which bugs me when pc players say hes trash, you wouldn't see them call talus trash and bad design because hes better on console, they just acknowledge hes more of a console pick which is weird they dont do it with caspian.
Caspian is okay (I think), it's more a "Paladins issue". A lot of champs feel too clunky based on how unpolished the game is. I also agree with the point about the cards. The builds are pretty restrictive.
@Crhistian I'm a grandmaster and caspian is my main now previously andro and yes he is viable at even the highest level just requires more setup requiring a pocket heal against a high burst team
Just hold both attacks at ANY range to burn through ammo and have more chance of proccing the cards, how he doesnt use sword on Yag or Koa at point blank is another thing💀
Caspian main problem is that he has only ONE viable playstyle. Measured Candace + Casual Competency (stacks) + Finer Things (speed) are super mandatory One talent is too good that make 2 other talent seem pointless
If you need any sort of metric when it comes to people not watching the video and entirely missing the point someone is trying to make, you can just take this video as a case study.
Im really dissapointed that caspian is played by everyone but everyone must use the same set of cards and mesured cadence. Its also pretty unfun to play against such a good build
I think he is pretty good.Originally i thought that he is too complex for me to play him but since i played him for the first time he is pretty good.Pro tip use his sword a lot more the idea is u get stacks with gun from distance then cut the distance and hit themm with sword.
My man. My brother in azaan. Comboing gun with the sword made this champion and S tier immediate ban in ranked. As he stands right now, there is no champion in the game with a better high skill payoff than Caspian. There is almost no matchup he can’t win, because he has the burst to take down just about anyon, PLUS the sustained damage to duel tanks and win. Low to mid elo, he is not very good. High elo he is currently the best champion in the game, downright broken. Honestly I think they need to bring him down a few notches. His stun, ultimate and his movement card ALL deserve nerfs. And they definitely need to tool his other talents to be even a quarter as useful as rogues tempo, because there is simply no reason to run anything else.
Dear people who says Caspian sucks...STOP USING ONLY THE GUN. Hold both clicks when in mid-close range, you lierally MELT people. Its Caspian 101. Why is people afraid of the sword? Go to the shooting range and you will notice how he shreds people. Not the best flank, of course, but an unchecked caspian in a good map is a team whipper.
@@iouplayyy9191 he struggles at range the exact same way Vatu “struggles at range”. I’ve seen caspians so insane, that even with resil 3, if they land the stun on you, you die. Period. His burst is so insane that his stun is a like a pip ultimate. It doesn’t matter how much resil you took, you’re dead instantly anyway. Now yes, Vora and Andro can outpoke him. But if he gets in your face, the burst alone is better than both of those champions combined. PLUS he has a stun. I don’t know why you brought up Koga. Koga is feculant dogwater compared to Caspian at any range.
Caspian he's a major negative to the game. His damage is too strong, he just does way too much in general, and he's a constant ban on both PC and Console. He needs major nerfs to obvious things about him, same thing to many other FLANKS. Flanks are a major unbalanced problem and have been saying this since 2016.
He is alright, not a fan of steroid ults, his movement ability animation is stiff as shit, hate you dont get momentum when almost everyone else does. He is playable but not fun.
For all the Caspian praise in the comments, how many of these comments are from Console players? Anyone who has aim assist will feel good, but on Mouse & Keyboard he may feel like an entirely different character.
He needs cover do dive in and out. He's good on maps like Bazaar, Jaguar Falls, Serpent Beach and Bright marsh. Does bad on maps like Frozen Guard, Warders Gate etc
this game is a failure man. effort all goes into skins and money making stuff not trying to make the game playable. its been so bad for years and years and they are not doing anything about it. its so sad cuz this game has so much potential. hundreds of hours on this game btw i know what im saying
