The Fairfield Four have said it themselves, “When you are looking at us, you are looking at history-the oldest teenage group in America.” Catch toe tapping, foot stompin’, jubilee style, African- American a cappella gospel singing, going back almost 100 years to the group’s beginning in 1921. The group is best known for their appearance at the end of the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? and the subsequent soundtrack release.
Presented in collaboration with the Library of Congress American Folklife Center’s Homegrown: The Music of America series.
