Why the hell is this movie so underrated?, it's the best movie I have ever watched... I like it even better than Shawshank Redemption,No movie was ever made from this perspective, the one il call the "true perspective", it's visually stunning and also emotionally,it had everything a perfect movie needed, then why you people rejected it? it's so sad.
@eva-mariag.4794
@eva-mariag.4794 8 лет назад
it' s interesting that you mention "shawshank redemption" because its also one of my favourite movies of all time...along with " the fall", which i think is absolutly unique in so many ways and had a deep inpakt on me. I could marvel about this movie for hours and hours. Shawsshank is something completely different and so i won' t compare the movies. This is the reason why i have a lot of favourite movies.

Surrealism and subjectivity don't sell well, hence why The Green Mile wasn't as popular as Shawshank, why Shyamalan went downhill and why Jodorowsky has few films.

A lot of it is because they under-market these kinds of films. I had never even heard of it until I heard a movie reviewer say it was an all time favorite. I went to find it on RU-vid, Netflix, Prime, Fandango, etc and it is nowhere to be found. Super annoyed that they won’t even let interested people watch it. The trailer is haunting! I’m going crazy that I can’t see it 😩

I do get why people think that keeping up the disability thing was wrong. But it is actually a good thing to do. It made it so much easier for Catinca. Children of that age have a very vivid imagination and will get confused a lot. So making it real for such a long time is good. And she will understand in the end/when she's older.

I've seen actors play transgender people like he did...Cillian Murphy did a wonderful job...Jared Leto too....but Calpernia...MY GOD. And it was his first big film...I mean, I thought that he had been working for years before that! He's just amazing. That's alla I can say :)

Because it was a film made for TV and they compete for instance at Golden Globes, the Emmys and other awards - but not the Oscars* Several nominations there and the Emmys. Lee did not win, but was / of course/ nominated. Pace won a Gotham award for his breakthrough performance.

I have never seen anything so pure in a fiction as Lee and Catinca. They were amazing. Many moments I was mesmerized when I watch them talk to each other. Somehow I feel this movie was life changing to me. I saw it right after it came out but I was young back then. I actually lost the copy of the film and was thinking about it many times until I bought a new copy and watched it last week. My mind was blown, heart melt and tears were shed. You know, I think that one of the reasons for which Peter Jackson chose him, (of course because of his amazing talent and beauty) is because he really does look like an amazing and great guy, not just as an actor but as a real gentleman. Every movie I watch of him, I end up smiling like and idiot (that might as well be because I love him xD) but I think Peter always chooses that kind of people you'll have a great time working together. @Jeremini
@Jeremini 4 года назад
Lola Montez I respectfully disagree with you. The Hollywood insiders had known he’s gay much earlier than the public. So after a few great starts as romantic leads in The Fall and Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day, they got cold feet about giving him leading roles, especially romantic leading roles, worrying once he becomes a major star, it’s going to be hard to keep his being gay a secret and the movie goers might feel disappointed when the news breaks. That’s why even though they admire his talent, they think they’d rather give him less important roles. Ever wonder so far there have not been any openly gay major stars in Hollywood?
@lynnepashley4281

I had a dream with movie credits at the end once Lee, but I still consider my imagination pre-cinema ok. I was supposed to write a paper about Walker Percy's essay "The Loss of the Creature" once in high school which is about the difficulty of having sovereign experiences, of having pure subjectivity. But I wrote a poem instead with material I stole from my friend about how he was going to become an avacado farmer and roam the earth defying evil and casting it into the sea.

@CallyEndra
@CallyEndra 10 лет назад
I understand what you mean, I am uncomfortable with this whole thing too. It's not really the lying thing... because we lie to children all the time about many things. About Santa Claus or Tooth Fairy, some people even scare children with Witches or the Boogeyman to make them eat their soup or things like that. But I feel uncomfortable because they lie for the sake of a movie, for something for which they will gain money, and the little girl got confused and scared. But then again it's the whole "children in cinema" subject that we should discuss. I understand that they wanted to create a strong bond between them, a bond that could have been actually broken the moment they revealed he was not disabled. Trust and affection could have been broken and the rest of the movie (the epic story) could have been a disaster. Yet apparently it was not, and Catinca still liked Roy (Lee). And the fact that Pace apparently got depressed because of their lie makes it up to me. About the thing that made you cringed, I understand what you mean. But that being said, I also think it's a very positive and strong thing for a child to feel. A child growing up with a positive feeling such as "my love for this man made him walk again" is a blessing to me. I still think it's a very beautiful movie, and now I know how authentic it was. Sure Lee Pace was playing a part while Catinca was mostly herself, but she really liked him, and I think he really liked her too.
