It has plenty to do with the original. The original series was created off a combination of the song ‘ballad of the unknown stuntman’ that was already written and merged with the concept of making him a bounty hunter because that was what people were interested in at the time. The heart of the show was the song and showing the world what stuntmen do and celebrating them. The new film goes back to the song and takes a very literal approach with the same love of the industry and wants you to have a great time whilst celebrating that. There are loads of Easter eggs and cares completely sincerely about what it’s showcasing as well as being a fun time at the cinema. That’s nothing to feel disappointed about, but excited about. It’s a brilliant movie that has something more to say.
