The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

When you talk to Falion in skyrim to cure your vampirism, he recalls how he has travelled to other worlds and plains of existence. he speaks of meeting with Daedra and Dwemer alike, if he's to be believed it suggests that the Dwemer didn't exactly 'zero-sum' but mas trans-located to another dimension.

I find it kind of poetic to see how what was left of the Dwemer were their actions and what that tells us about them. They most likely didnt see the subjucation of the snowelves as a big part of their history but now thats the thing that is left of them. Showing what kind of people they really were.

I really hope we get new information about the Dwemer in Elder scrolls 6 they are so mysterious and the fact that not a single race or person has found a way to make their own dwemer machinery is astounding (Neramo can control a Dwemer spider but he can't make,reproduce or know HOW they all work) Will we ever find out what happened to these Elves ?

Probably the most impressive achievement of the Dwemer is high-precision metalworking. They can cut, roll, and cast metals with ease that no other people of Tamriel have ever managed.

Here’s an idea, what if the reason the Dwemer don’t have any clear relation to the aldmer is because they aren’t native to this Kalpa. It would be a lot like the Yokudans and the Synestral elves. Maybe the Snow Elves could also be from a different Kalpa as well.

I like to think the battle of red Mountain was actually just a giant rave the Dwemer hosted. No fighting but some very intense dance battles between Nords, Chimer, and Dwemer. Till Kagranack, 2 tabs and 4 pills deep drops a track so hard his whole race disconnects from the server.

I think the dwemer had such great technology that they shifted their dimension into a different timeline or into the future or the past much like Alduin with the Elder Scroll, and all the dwemer cities are the remnants they left behind.

I know chim is technically canon, but that concept is one piece of lore I tend to ignore. Especially with the Dwemer, I kind of like not knowing what happened to them. It feels like the mysteries we often have in real life about civilizations vanishing. But I personally like to believe that they moved to another plane, perhaps their own corner of Oblivion, and are thriving with different tools and resources. But because their knowledge is ever expanding, and their race is always full of chief innovators they can’t go back to Nirn. Because they’ve outgrown the need for it. But if we never learn what happened to them, I’d be okay with that.

Ive asumed they "sent them selfs forward in time" by kagnarac. I mean.. in skyrim.. who has the elder scroll that sends alduin forward in time? Dwemer. Probbaly rushed due to the war on his doorstep, creating a mistake.

Nah. My hypothesis is that someone or something out there didn't want Tamriel to progress scientifically and technologically, so they removed the dwemer of to somewhere (maybe with similar magic as with Alduin). Had they successfully initiated their conquest of surface, it would've been a matter of decades when even the subjugated peoples would gain an understanding of the advanced sciences that now remain but a vague mystery.

My own personal take on the disappearance of the dwemer Is that when Kagrenec struck the heart, his goal was to immortalise his race, to make sure they would live forever and never be eclipsed by another civilisation And that's exactly what the heart did, it immortalised them in history by having the entire dissappear at the same time, they live forever through the memory of the people of Tamriel, and because the rest of the world is still ass backwards and anti-magic it's very unlikely they will ever be eclipsed They got Monkey's pawed essentially

The dwemer faded from existence from all timelines except them creations just like Dagoth Ur when faced with the unbending reality that they don’t exist. So they ceased to exist, even if you went back in time they no longer exist for they purged themselves from all timelines, unless the game creators made a game they existed in again.

I know I'm late, but I would late to speculate against the Dwemer Zero summing. My only real evidence is the quest given by Arniel Gane in the College of Winterhold (i think it's Arniel but i could be mistaken). He does the same thing but with a soul gem. Why would a simple soul gem have the same ability to achieve/fail Chim as the heart of Lorkhan. I mean obviously the Heart did it to a whole race, but that's A LOT of potential within a soul gem, that caused the same effect albeit on a much smaller scale.

I would have to say, I listed to this video at least 10 times, each time different ideas came to me, Dear Fudge Muppets please research all the lore about Lorkan`s heart and what the hear desires even when it is within Lorkan and maybe we can formulate another Theory. I seem to recall that there is somewhere a quote that "Lorkan went into the void because Lorkan had darkness into his heart and this is what the heart desired" more or less exact. Taking it literally the Heart of Lorkan has a will of it`s own and it desires to go into the void, and the dwemer had their own desired hoping to achieve immortality, they used the tools hoping to do this but the Heart granted them it`s own desire sending them into the void witch is not exactly oblivion but closer to Aetherius than Mundus or Tamriel. So if they are still living and conscious not a coma like state drifting into space (void) maybe they established a new civilization into their "new realm" and hopefully we will see them again.

Hear me out on this. Maybe when they disappeared they succeeded in becoming gods. I wouldn't overlook the possibility that the entire race rose past the gods and now control the very fabric of existence, never being able to return to a physical form ever again. Sorda ties into to the end of their lore and I couldn't think of anway to disprove it. After all this is just a theory.

How the other races interact with Dwemer tech reminds me of how humanity interact with the Protomolecule in the Expanse, “Give a monkey a microwave, to them, if they push a button and a light turns on, it’s a lamp, push another one, and put your hand inside, if it gets burnt, it becomes a weapon, we keep pushing buttons trying to figure it out, but no monkey ever reheating a frozen burrito”
