For me it’s less about a sophistication of language and more about a type of censorship. At what point do people start changing other books “for a modern audience”. Any book from the 1920’s onwards pretty much reads like any Modern novel, but they are “old” and have “outdated language” in terms of how women/minorities are treated and spoken about. When are those books going to be “adapted” (censored) to make it easier for modern audiences to read… Sorry for another rant haha It’s something I am very passionate about
