Some criticisms I couldn't find a good place for but I wanted to include:
- The Fall of the House of Usher uses the offscreen assault and murder of an unnamed Inuk woman as part of the backstory for a white man, while using the Inuktitut word Inuit, which refers to multiple people, and mispronouncing it as well. This is of course incredibly distasteful to even include this haphazardly but also shows they didn't even do the research on it.
- The show's treatment of Usher's first wife, Annabel Lee, depicts her as an impossible standard of virtue and morals, idolizing her, and then implies she kills herself off-screen, which I also found distasteful.
- The show depicts Verna as the reason Mark Zuckerberg is successful. Look, I'm not at all going to defend any of Mark Zuckerberg's many unethical actions, but the implication that he owes his success to a deal with a demon is rather tone-deaf, and comparing him actual war criminals seems like overreacting.
- One of the speeches says we could solve world issues if we didn't spend so much money on TV, but who is making this TV, exactly?
- The show declares that domestic cats are apex predators, which isn't even close to correct. There are several animals around the world that eat invasive cats, including but not limited to larger felids, coyotes, wolves, bears, otters, hawks, eagles, and even raccoons. An animal being good at killing and eating other animals does not make them an apex predator. It just makes them a predator.
