i was just in the oxford high school shooting and i feel like the depiction of how the one girl is so sad while her sister doesn't care is so accurate because after a few weeks people forget about it and stop caring when the trauma for all of us is still there.
I'm so sorry .. Not everyone has moved on and forgotten about you . There are people out there every day fighting for stricer gun laws . Most , belong to your club , unfortunately . They've been there too . Lost someone they loved or is dealing w a loved one who has lost somebody . Each individual story is horrific and unimaginable, but you are not alone . Not everyone has forgotten about you. There are strangers out there; who love you , empathize with you , feel your pain terror and share your same story . The rest of us just can't seem to believe that this person was so angry and troubled that they wanted to take as many people as they could down with themselves. It's a troubled world / country 😔 It's a damn shame that the Almighty $ 1 is worth way more than a life to these humans that make " OUR rules " 💔💔 I hope you can find your path to healing.....❤
I totally get this, i was in a school shooting close to three years ago, just know that we always remember and we always try to support each other. Please stay strong
You know you're getting old when you're sick of high school drama shows and rather watch something less depressing with nudity, after all you are paying for the service xD
So glad that Jenna and Maddie are taking serious roles. I always had faith that Jenna was going to be so much more than a disney star and Maddie deserves this project after the embarrassment in Music. Will definitely tune in to this
There was no “embarrassment” for Maddie. She made a name for herself and I’m sure she’s proud of her work. I don’t understand why some of you are embarrassed for successful people. Be embarrassed for yourself
One of the most impactful movies I’ve watched. How the movie portrays trauma and grief is exceptional. Jenna Ortega is a freaking amazing actress, and Maddie does great as well.
I really want to watch this movie because Jenna Ortega is amazing at everything she does and I have been watching Maddie since she was on dance mom's but I suffer from severe anxiety PTSD and agoraphobia from the murder of my baby sister in 2012 and don't wanna be triggered.....
Wow. Mom of a school shooting survivor and this movie needs to happen. People need to know that issues persist long after the shooting stops. I’m sobbing and have chills all over my body.
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective. Prior to reading your comment, I was a little worried that this movie might have an unintended effect of glamorizing school shootings… somewhat similar to how some people felt about 16 reasons why/suicide. But your comment honestly gives me a whole new perspective, and if it helps to heal school shooting victims, survivors and their families by giving them a voice, then that’s more than enough reason to watch it. Bless you and your family on your continued path to healing ❤️
i've watched Jenna since Disney and have always been a big fan of her work. She really needs more recognition. She is an amazing actress. I hope to be as half as good as her one day.
@@odeleya1768 well, if it helps, your biggest fear is irrational. You are far far far more likely to die in the car on your way to school than you are from a shooting in school.
As someone who had a loved one be a victim in a school shooting, I’m so glad these long-term issues are coming to light. This happens too much in America and we aren’t doing anything about it. The issues that come afterwards last a lifetime, yet most others who weren’t involved forget. I pray the day comes that we get justice for the innocent children murdered in the one place they’re supposed to be safe.
With the digital age allowing us to share thoughts how we do, ask around; it's terrifying to learn how many kids frequently think about their plan for if their school is attacked. It's becoming universal, and it's really sad.
Children should be protected. It’s sad when they are lost. We kids have our entire futures ahead of us. So much to do in such a wonderful world, but when our lives are taken, we lose that opportunity, such a gift, tarnished.
Jenna literally has me in a choke hold. Literally everything I’ve seen of hers is so incredible and raw. She’s grown into such an astounding actress and I can’t wait for her to continue into other amazing roles. 💜
@@user-db9vy2gh3v sia's movie called 'music' in which she had maddie play a young girl whom is autistic who was nonspeaking and many individuals who are austistic found the representation to be disingenuous and offensive. many were also upset that sia did not employ/cast someone who is autistic to play the role. i am not autistic and if you want to get more detailed information on why there are many videos made by autistic individuals that go into details as it would be best to hear from them (i just wanted to give a little of reference) a few examples of autistic people who made videos are: paige layle, chloe hayden, stephanie bethany, and many more.
@@idk-oe5ig but why would the cancel Maddie ? Nobody has ever cancelled leo for playing an autistic younger brother .. it’s not the actresses fault ? Ofc I don’t mean to come off harsh or mean cause it is the internet but can you like explain
I lost 3 friends in the Sandy Hook shooting, Danny, Dylan, n Chase. The Oxford incident was just as big a nightmare since its kids my age with friends that love and care for them. I was deeply touched by this movie
I'm from here as well. I lost a friend and my favorite teacher's mother that day. Just visited the memorial for the first time. It was described perfectly as "Out of horror, comes beauty" 🪻
I instantly said to myself "this trailer reminds me of what happened to my town, and how it's affected all of us" and then I see your comment. It's crazy how this can happen anywhere. I hope you're healing.
I've just finished and i can tell, this is far one of the most well made dramatic movie I've ever seen; its so realistic, the dialogue, the emotions. 🙌
Saw this about 10 months ago and its great. Seriously when this hits HBOMax do not miss it the first 10 minutes were so intense and the movie is simply a great character study on how we cope with trauma and handle themselves beyond a horrific event. the final 20 minutes and first 10 minutes really stand out.
@@codyseelye8352 Yeah School shooting but the its a character study beyond that experience basically. Between Maddie and Jenna. Very good and depressing
@@AceZachrocks123 sounds like Euphoria because Euphoria is dark and such. This sounds such a good movie. I can’t wait to watch it. It also reminds me of that movie on Netflix all the bright places. The book of that movies sounds good and I just don’t have the time to read it.
Oh my God, this gave me the biggest chills across my entire body. HBO's gonna go there.... Good. It's about time. People see so much PTSD in soldiers that they've become numb to it. Maybe this can help propel the discussion forward again. Been out of the Army for 9 years. When people pop fireworks my heart still races up to a dangerous level. New Years night is a night of non-stop small heart attacks. I can't even Imagine what these kids must go through. They were never trained to be shot at or see dead bodies.
@@niamhheron5587 The sharp cracking thunder, yeah. But we think it's a sort of reflex thing we've built up and will always have. Sounds weird but, kinda makes sense.
@@niamhheron5587 Have you seen a therapist? It really really helps. My old nightmares are gone. I still get mood swings but not bad ones. It's just that flinch at loud noises.
@@republicoftexas4651 Even if it was your choice to go in the army you are still an human, and even if you were prepared for this, you can't just say it's my job you have nothing to be shame to talk about PSTD actually it's great you open up about this, silence is the worst thing you can't just keep all things for yourself there is not better therapy than speak and tell things who hurt you, who haunt you, who makes you feel sad and depress and also the fear you can feel actually it's really brave to speak because it's one step of your fight from PSTD. When you grew up with normal people and suddenly you are at the war and you see people dying or dead bodies of course your brain is confused and also traumatized. My brother is a survivor from Attack terrorist of the 13 november 2015 in Paris he worked there at this period and he was drinking in a bar with his friend that night shooting started in bars before Bataclan, my brother is a very strong man who seems invincible, but when he talks about that night oh god his face it's like we destroyed the little boy innocent he was. And still today I'm grateful these terrorist got killed by cops bc these shooters they were just monsters, not humans and the fact he wanted to take my brother away from me, from my family well nobody don't hurt my family, nobody have the right to take lives and kill innocent people just because their life sucks. I'm born and I grew up in France and here school shootings never happened and I am not sure in our culture and mentality and in our difficult acces to have guns, I doubt someday there will have a school shooting here. And it's the last thing we have to worry, we are more worrying about attack terrorist who could happen in a school, than school shootings. I know in america it's a real issue even today it's getting worse, I feel like kids aren't safe in schools anymore in america and that's really horrible and unfair they have to get through this especially school it's not supposed to be a dangerous place, these things should never happen NEVER. Yeah the fact they aren't prepared it's probably even worst. Usually we says school shooters are bullied kids, but actually those are bullies or they aren't even in this school anymore. I am convinced Columbine school shooting is still an inspiration for some of these shooters. I don't understand the motivation to kill other kids there is nothing more inhuman to do that, of course people would say "people are crazy" but it's not solving anything we also have crazy people in France, like everywhere. My opinion for me the guns are definitely a real problem in america and I know it's not gonna change it's clearly the second Amendment but when I see young kids already going to shoot training with their father or people having a gun in their pocket like if it was an old western movie HAHA it's upside down for me. Anyway I don't want make polemic it's different culture and I respect that and honestly I'm here to support these horrible things I'm glad they made a movie about this subject, I don't know how many life is ruined every year by these school shootings. I truly hope one day this thing will stop and life will be safe at school, which school is supposed to be a safe place. BTW if ever you feel the need to talk about your army experience feel free to message me. I am happy to hear your old nightmares are gone, my grandfather had a terrible accident when he was young a kid who used to play behind his truck he had already told the parents and one day the drama happened and he did horrible nightmares for years and drink a lot, he suffered a lot in his last years of life because of a cancer and it's not something I wish for anyone, before it was tabou people weren't talking, my grandfather were putting his issues in alcohol and that's not the solution. About Fireworks actually in France it's legal and during the events like new year nights people use many many many Fireworks everywhere you only see this in the sky and I never really thought it sounded like shotguns but now I see just the explosion of a firework could make you think about the sound of gunfires and I understand what do you mean, actually my brother have the same issue which is why he puts an helmet and put song to not listen fireworks and it works actually he feels better after that, his brain is focused on what he listen in the helmet and not with fireworks
I can’t imagine what that must feel like. I hope I never have to. I feel for all the soldiers, vets, mass/school shooting witnesses and victims, etc. guns scare the living daylights out of me, I don’t think I could ever willingly touch one. I think this show or movie (forgot which it is) is needed to show what happens to people in the aftermath of gun violence. I’m glad this exists.
I think it's great that there's a primetime show about how young people - particularly children live through traumatic events and the repercussions. Hollywood movies often depict how adults deal with the fallout of say, wars, natural disasters, going broke overnight - but few shows depict the world from young people's perspective.
First thought of this movie after the Texas shooting. Disgusting that this is becoming more normal. Something needs to happen, we need substantial change. Thinking of all of them. “Thoughts and prayers” are not doing anything anymore. Action needs to be taken.
Just watched this last night... Id be willing to say that this is the most important movie of the past several years. A gut wrenching story that is brilliantly told. Also... Jenna Ortega is an instant star. Incredible!
This movie was absolutely incredible- it felt so real and raw. At the start, there were a lot of awkward & long pauses but it fit so well with the situation. It really envoked so much emotion & I believed every moment of it. I'm so sorry to all survivors of school shootings, you never should have gone through that. I hope some day we figure out how to end the shootings for good.
Just watched it. I never cry from movies but this really hit me. It’s such a real and heartbreaking depiction of ptsd and the fragility of the mind, especially of a young person
She’s literally in everything, she just was in Scream the only movie to dethrone Spider-Man. She’s come a long way. It’s always good to see Disney stars progress into more dramatic actors.
I've always wanted to see this song used in a trailer, it's so haunting and so beautiful. Actually seeing Billie perform it at the grammys in 2020 made me want to explore more of her music. jenna ortega is doing amazing again, love seeing her in so many roles. I think she's a great actress, especially so young edit: oops, did it again the song's When The Party's Over by Billie Eillish
just finished watching the movie. it's well made and very raw and real to the generation. the ending was sad, because it is very true: bad things will still continue to happen. it really puts into perspective how we can deal with out traumas and how we can affect the ones around us, especially the ones closest to us. overall, it was a nice film, and really well spaced out for an hour and 20 minute movie.
I literally just finished watching this movie and I'm in tears...I just relate vada in a whole another level, I saw myself in her throughout the movie. And it actually helped me alot to now what I'm going through. Amazing job by the actors and the crew !!! A must watch
Omg… Jenna Ortega is so awesome! From Stuck in the Middle, You, Babysitter Killer Queen, and Scream, she’s been doing SO great and only at 19 years old currently. Cant wait for this to come out!!
Euphoria definitely goes over the top with the side-stories but the Zendaya storylines are extremely realistic. Speaking as a former teenage opioid addict
@@boppob1343 I don't think any of the storyline are over the top. People really do that. U can't say one is over the top because u didn't go through It, but then say the one u went through isn't over the top Because her storyline could be over the top to someone like me who would never touch drugs. You see how that works?
This is a breath of fresh air in the face of Run Hide Fight. Instead of romanticizing a school shooting, the actual event is an afterthought and there's a more of an emphasis on the "fallout" per se
Yup, Run Hide Fight turned school shootings into an tasteless action flick that forgot it was displaying a subject of trauma for many children today. Not to mention it felt like it a political tool for second amendment "rights". Because the movie constantly undercuts the seriousness of violence, bullying and firearms. Despite the reality being that many actual school shooting victims have been pushing for gun control laws to prevent anymore tragedy. However, I can't help but dislike that movie on a personal level because I'm also a victim of gun violence.
I love the TW in the beginning, thank you for that. my heart goes out to all of my oxford friends and family. I am so thankful for all of you. and please if you were thinking about watching this just consider that it might bring up some trauma and ptsd. I don’t want anyone to have a panic attack without a warning. I love you all. but all and all this does seem like a very powerful movie that could potentially be a classic in the making.
Thanks for making this. It needs to be talked about. Coming from someone in a school shooting, it was the scariest and worst moment of my life. It's a horribly serious topic that the government isn't doing enough about.
jenna ortega is AMAZING! it feels good to see hollywood’s next big star slowly but surely come to the top ! she would be amazing in the final destination reboot 🖤
Man Jenna Ortega has been killing it!!! Every time I see her in a trailer for something I found out she’s doing like three other projects too! I’m so excited for Maddie too! I can’t wait to watch this!
it’s crazy to watch jenna from her at stuck in the middle as a kid to me now as a teen. as well as, maddie. from watching her grow up at dance moms. to her in small roles in movies and to now a main role! this is HUGEEE!!!
Haven't been in a school shooting, just the drills (which were still pretty terrifying as sometimes they wouldn't tell us it was a drill), but I did lose a very close friend a few months ago in an accident, he was only 14, and I see a lot of parallels in the fallout that's had on his friends and family and most of all me (only truly knowing my own experience). This movie is a beautiful expression of trauma and grief and highlights the fact that the pain doesn't end when the funeral's over, far from it.
seeing this after being someone in the oxford shooting is really hard, and im glad they are bringing attention to how hard it is to be in this situation
I saw this trailer show up as a RU-vid ad but when I saw the beginning saying viewer discretion advice I knew it would be different then most RU-vid trailers jumping right into the premise of the story. While watching it I started reflecting back onto trauma that has happened to me in the past and now I feel so obligated to watch it. HBO really hit a home run with trying to go for something relatable to almost everyone while making it stand out in ways that need to be taken more seriously when it comes to the after math, for example, school shootings. Though I am younger, I'm going to have to give this movie a watch just by the execution of it's marketing.
I experienced major trauma in the 2020 protests. It was no school shooting but seeing these characters in the trailer deal with their trauma reminds me of how I dealt. I remember saying the same thing to my therapist “I’m angry” and even though we went through horrible things my friends and I still had fun and laughed and did what we can. This trailer hits really close to home and made me start crying in the parking lot of my physical therapists office lol. It’s a shame it’s only on HBO but I’ll find a way to watch it. Also Jenna Ortega was in Scream 5 and she did an AMAZING FANTASTIC FABULOUS job and I’m SO excited to see where her career heads. Wishing the absolute best for her
POV : You just finished watching Wednesday and need to see more Jenna Ortega content and looking up all her movies and TV series and you came across this masterpiece.
Are there more movies like this??! That show so deeply what it can feel like to be this generation and similar bc this trailer hit hard and I need more
The Life Before Her Eyes Is a similar film that covers a school shooting. I actually thought this was going to be somewhat of a rip off of that movie but they deal with the realities of a school shoting differently.
First off let me state rhat I can not even imagine the emotional aftermath of being in a school during something like that. Second off I can tell this movie will make me BAWL MY EYES OUT. This will be an amazing movie I can already tell
The way I just watched call me by your name 2 weeks ago and am still recovering from the depression it threw me into and for some reason I felt it too BUT I CANT EXPLAIN WHY DOES THAT MAKE SENSE
If I snuck up behind you and fired a weapon several times-- your very core would be changed for the rest of your life. No exaggerating. These kids need help.
This movie was extraordinarily written, directed, produced, acted and whatever else goes into making a movie! Jenna is a bonafide superstar and Maddie was excellent in her secondary role! Bravo! All the awards to this.
I've been waiting to watch this movie for SO LONG!! I've been a fan of Jenna since disney and It feels so good seeing her finally get the attention she deserves, and I'm excited to see Maddie in an acting role. Just watching the trailer makes me feel, warm?? I'm honestly not sure what word describes what i'm feeling rn, but I truly can't wait to watch this!!
As someone who has went through a school shooting, this was hard to watch. Even just the trailer- the genuine fear you feel. The heart wrenching after of terrifying anxiety. The loss you feel. The sense of losing yourself and your sleep. It’s awful.
There's one every week now, and it's always a white kid who was radicalized by alt-right extremism. I don't know why they're not just kicking down every door in Amerikkka to take these weapons of mass destruction from every criminal that owns one.
@craig smith I’m sorry to burst /your/ bubble, but I lived through it. Have you ever had shots inches above your head? I have. My little brother has. My three cousins have. This type of ignorance is beyond exhausting and truly shows how /lost/ the world is. You’re a truly deranged individual to invalidate someone who has gone through a school shooting and lost a dear friend to it. Truly despicable. Do better.
I’m so sorry you’ve been through that, I have too. I felt the same way watching this trailer and I’m so sorry that you feel those things too. Nobody should have to go through that. Sending love❤️
You know it still feels unreal that Americans school students have to go through something like this...in my country the only major thing you are worried about is not getting grades good enough to go to a good college...i see my younger cousins going to school carefree and happy and maintaining their innocence all throughout the school years and it makes me sad that Americans teenagers have lost their innocence and carefreeness...no child should have to go through that
@@snowchips9596 zendaya is like the limit the others all look like 25 yo going to parties like most high schoolers neither have the money nor the time to dress up and do their makeup like in euphoria and even less high schoolers act like them
there are just as equally as sad school shooting movies where it shows a family member going through the loss of their child, but i’m really really glad this movie is going to represent how the students that survived the shooting felt and how they are trying to cope with it, im looking forward to seeing this movie
this is the very thing i used to fear happening at my middle school. i'm in a much safer and better high school now, but that instinct and fear never leaves you. thank you for making this movie
i’ve been waiting for this film to come out since its premiere at sxsw forever ago! so excited to see the ingenuity of megan park’s work, as well as jenna & maddie’s acting!
This movie was so good and a must watch by everyone living in this day and age! We need to see what we are doing to our children by not choosing smarter gun laws. Jena Ortega is a phenomenal actress and portrays what our children and teenagers go through every day…. Whether it’s a drill or the real thing. There is such a pure, honest, rawness to this film and it speaks volumes about the society we’ve become.
I've meant to watch this movie and finally I did. This was superbly written, directed and exceptionally executed by the actors. The opening scenes belies the horrific pain that follows. I found myself weeping more that I care to admit. The terrible truth that you and everyone knows. This has happened shamefully too often. I recommend watching it when you can handle getting run over by a freight train of anguish with only a few glimmers of relief. Now and then.
