This is Ginger Ale Springs in Longwood Florida. It was used by Beeman (Beeman Gum) Investment Co. to make ginger ale and bottled spring water in and around 1924.
In 1916 Lester Beeman started building at a natural spring called Palm Spring, with a dam and walls to collect water into a large natural swimming area, and the addition of a high dive board and facilities like a bath house, Beeman created a very popular recreational area. About 500 feet down stream from the big spring was a small, unnamed boil which Beeman decided in 1924 to use as the source for Palm Spring Bottled Water and Ginger Ale which he sold all over the Orlando and Tampa areas of Florida.
Today, all that remains of Beeman's facility is the cement basin surrounding the main spring boil and a small section of block retaining wall. What was once Palm Spring, as well as Sanlando Spring, is now a residential subdivision called The Springs.
I was told that the property that Ginger Ale Springs sits on is for sale, but I believe that it is actually the property directly adjacent and up to the property line with this property, not the property itself where Ginger Ale Springs located, but I don't know for sure either way. Quite a large number of Florida's springs are now privately owned, so it wouldn't surprise me if it did turn out to be someone's backyard footbath, whether or not it is for sale at the moment.
