This route begins with a gradual ascent on a very obvious track through a small forest and up to Grike.. A short decent follows before pulling quickly back up on to Crag Fell with stunning vistas of Ennerdale.
The long walk then follows before a final steep ascent onto Caw Fell and Haycock before retracing your steps back towards Lank Rigg to complete the circuit.

I need to go there and hope to see the same herd of horses when I do get there. Already done Haycock and may have done Lank Rigg and although it was a nice view on the first summit Grike - Crag Fell was amazing, loved the views from there. Well you were right about an accident waiting to happen, I thought you had one on that river crossing! Cheers Alan

its a long way out to haycock from here, kinda spoils this walk so its good you've already done it.. caw fell is nice, very remote, id say its one of the least climbed wainwrights but nice comfortable path up to it from this starting point.. Most people just do grike, crag hill and lank rigg for this route, makes it a shortish 3 hour round.. thanks for watching lad, tek care :)

Epic hike Dave, 16 miles!! There must be something special in your tea! Your energy levels were so good until the end. We did Haycock with Pillar plus others and it's nice hiking along that wall. Foxgloves was the right name for the plants but I've no idea where that comes from. Were hoping to do the Kentmere Horseshoe on Friday if the weather is ok. Regards, Ashley

Aye ya going to love Kentmere, hopefully a wee bit cooler than when I did it. Just be careful on the descent from the last one Shipman Knotts, I didn't mention it in my video as I had wrapped up but its pretty sketchy in places and can imagine it harder if the rocks are wet. All the best lad :)
