I'm 10 months into my intermittent fasting journey - and I still love it!
I’m 46 years old, 5’ 7”, and have given birth to 6 children.
I started out my weight loss journey by doing calorie counting. My top weight was 150 lbs, and I lost 10 lbs by calorie counting using Noom.
BUT I HATED IT.
I always felt guilty if I ate dessert; it was hard to stay under the number of calories they suggested, and it took the joy out of cooking and eating.
After watching Jennifer L. Scott from ‪@TheDailyConnoisseur‬ and several of her I.F. videos, I decided to try it myself. Check out her 3-year update here: • Intermittent Fasting 3...
On July 15, 2022, I started intermittent fasting.
I decided to do an 18/6 fast, meaning I fast for 18 hours, and my eating window is 6 hours.
In that 6-hour window, I normally just have 2 meals. So for me, the eating window is 1 pm - 7 pm, which means I eat lunch around 1 pm and eat dinner around 6 pm, and I don’t eat anything after 7 pm.

I have PCOS and I’m an elementary school teacher. My days usually start really early and I should not do IF. However, I just started my summer break, so I may be able to try it now. I also quit counting calories and macros and I’m focusing on real food and smaller portions. I have lost 4 pounds so far. I like when you said that you don’t want your tummy to hang over your jeans. Me, either! I’d also like to slim down the thighs. LOL Weight training and dancing are for me! I hope you’re having a better time adjusting to summer break, yourself! :)

Hi Rachel -- I just downloaded the app and getting started today. I'm 58 and am the heaviest I have ever been in my life! It's killing me. My body aches and hurts so much since I've gotten so heavy, I can't stand it anymore. I have "dieted" my entire life since I was 13 - and now, nothing works. I've never tried intermittent fasting, so I really hope this will work for me and be the absolute last thing I try, hopefully with success. Thank you for sharing this!

Because of YOU, I started IF!! I was SO sick and tired of dieting...I have gained and lost 40lbs over the last several years...I did keto but for my busy lifestyle if I don't maintain it perfectly I gained all my weight back...I needed a plan to eat what I wanted and lost weight and be healthy... IF has started me on the best journey!!! 3 weeks in, I fast the 16:8 working up to the 18:6 window....I have enjoyed food WAY more, eaten what I loved, pizza once a week with the family night, and I have lost 7lbs already!!! I sleep better! I feel better!!! I enjoy eating again and not worrying about a thing!! THANK YOU for sharing your journey, please continue to do so!!! You are so inspiring not only as a minimalist but with you IF results too!! I really enjoy your channel!!! Wish me luck to finally win the battle of my weight and stay healthy!! 🙂

You are exactly correct. I went from 210 to 139. 5’8. Every one said i was too skinny but it was the best I ever felt. Now i am about 175 and have gained mostly muscle. I can lift many times more than I ever could and very muscular but I felt better when I was skinny. I started back fasting. Every thing you said was exactly how I felt and what I did. I don’t plan in losing any muscle but just the little bit of fat I gained trying to put on muscle. The thing with fasting is that it gives your mind control. You actually crave less and your mind-body-time habit you make gives you reflex control of eating. One thing that makes it easier for me is that I only drink black coffee. I won’t break my fast even for a 5 calorie piece of gum. And black coffee helps me when I get a craving. Not sure i could do it without black coffee.

Great video ..I saw one of the videos of Dr Berg..He had something important to say .He gave two time frames 1) For those who feel super hungry as soon as they wake up,he says they should have their first meal around 9 and then their last meal around 5 in the evening .Which means you fast from 5 evening until 9 next morning( 16 hours) AND 2) For those who are not very hungry in the morning but are nearly starving towards evening ,they can have their first meal at 12 noon and then their last meal at 8..That way their fasting window is also 16 hours ( 8 evening until 12 noon the next day) This info was a game changer for me

I never thought IF would work for me because I was the person who needed to eat ALLLLLL day long. And if I went without food for like 2-3 hours, I'd get anxious and feel shaky. Now, I do 16:8 and I love it. I don't crave food, like you said. I actually prefer my morning without eating a lot. I haven't lost tons of weight but I'm steady going down about a lb a week.

I heard that 95% of those who diet will regain all their weight within 5 years. I'm coming on 5 years, and I'm part of the 5% who kept it off using nothing more than intermittent fasting and a bit of low carb high fat eating. I think you nailed it when you said that high insulin keeps you hungry. I still enjoy carbs, but I can see why some people need to abstain, otherwise they just lose control and fall off the wagon.

So good to hear. Make IF since 2 weeks. Until now I did not lost much weight, but most problems I had are gone. I drank not enough, I craved sugar or chips all the time. I drink 2-3 l now, I am not really hungry in the fasting time, I eat way less sweets, my legs got more toned although the did not lost a cm. I hope the pounds go down the next month. Lost 25 kg some years ago. But after birth I had 6 kg too much. Then came covid and my 40s Birthday and weight went up and up. So frustrating! Hope to skip that devils circle now.

HOWEVER, before I purchase this app, would you know if this app works with people that eat WFPB (whole food plant based). I’m definitely not willing to eat animal products, so this is important for me. But, using this app sounds very helpful. You definitely look so much healthier and vibrant since you’ve lost weight. Our stories are so similar. I started counting calories & lost almost 20lbs, but it made me crazy- took over my life. Then after I went wfpb vegan, I discovered intermittent fasting well over 6 years ago. I do 16/8 and it works for me. However, now that I’m 67 it seems harder for me to lose the 5 lbs where I feel most comfortable. It’s frustrating because I do watch what I eat. I also run/walk, and do strength training.

@shirleyann3344
@shirleyann3344 Год назад
Typically, if you are feeling starving and obsessing about what you’re going to eat when your eating window opens, is due to not closing your previous eating window with protein rich foods to carry you through your fast. Some typical things I eat to close my eating window is Greek yogurt with fruit and granola or chia seeds or a ham or Turkey wrap with romaine, cheese, and tomatoes. Sometimes I skip the tortilla for the wrap and just wrap the lettuce, tomato, and cheese inside the meat. A handfuls of almonds, with a couple cheese slices and raisins. No matter what I have, I always drink a protein shake with that last “meal,” too. I usually start eating about 20 min before closing my eating window. When I purposefully pay attention to my protein at that time, I very rarely feel any kind of starvation or constantly thinking about when I can next eat. And drinking plenty of water. I don’t drink as much water as I should, but it’s still a good amount. I would encourage you to give it a try again. Watch some videos from Dr. Eric Berg and read some books about IF. You can also gradually work up to a longer fasting time. Start at 12:12, then eventually increase to 14:10, to 16:8, then 18:6 if comfortable. You don’t have to start with a long fasting window right off the bat. Best wishes!! 😊

Which I know is horrible for me, but it's just sooooo good! And depending on the season I really enjoy different flavored teas with too much sugar, iced tea and hot chocolate. I just love to drink yummy drinks! I also have a bad habit of going all day without actual food and then by the time I eat, I'm starving so I eat way too much at dinner. Pleas note that interval fasting has some side effects. This method can adversely affect the gallbladder. During fasting, bile does not come out, as a result of which it stagnates. Sand and stones can form in the gallbladder. With hypothyroidism, an even supply of energy throughout the day is important. Dips in energy intake will increase the load on the thyroid gland.

You might find out why it is recommended to take your meds with food. Some meds can do damage if taken without adequate food or water. Others just have a side-effect for some people of stomach upset and so the blanket recommendation is to take with food. I've found that once I adapt to a medication, I never seem to have that problem and can take on an empty stomach with no repercussions.
