To give a bit of context: the SOAR vs ENVYUS game was trolled because Envy's solo laner at the time was having internet connection issues and kept getting kicked from the match in game 1. Hi-Rez claimed it wasn't a problem with their servers and forced them to continue playing. The tragic part is that I believe this was the only time their substitute solo laner got a chance to play in the pro league, and he was immediately fined along with the rest of the team for something he likely had no say in.

@@Keelay_ In a match like that as the substitute player only have 2 options. That is to go along with the gimmick strategy that the main team has decided, or to lose your job by actively going against it. You are correct that if they just played out to the 10 minuet mark, the whole team was unlikely to get fined. It is however a stretch to say the substitute player had any control in this situation.

I would suggest looking into some of the legendary "longest" e-sports games. Not the ones that are truly the most time consuming but rather the ones that induced an inescapable rage in the opponent due to the length of time taken. I would recommend you take a look at most old school Fatslob games from Age of Empires 2. Truly memorable stuff.

SC2 has a little over 250k active players in 1v1 this season. Its two peaks since 2016 were ~321k. Those might just be ranked numbers. The dota explanation: It is a very snowbally game where some characters are good early and fall off later (Pudge) and exist more to prevent the other team's carry (person who gets good late) from really getting off the ground. By being down 3k gold minutes into the game now all of the enemy players are far ahead and because your odd comp is absolutely not meant to go late game the only way they would have won is if the other team absolutely threw

After seeing the chess one, I spent 30 minutes unsuccessfully trying to recreate the scenario until I realized that the strat is entirely dependent on white going knight to d2, trapping his own white king. The move is only possible because white shot himself in the foot, an apt comparison to the Smite and League ones where the team throws on a failed level 1 jungle invade
@Jartran72
@Jartran72 16 дней назад
Yeah.. It is a terrible move and nowadays people are taught good opening principles early. Knight almost always go to f3 or c3. Unless someone plays the hippo against you and develops that knight first. But in the hippo they don't play e4.. It is really dependant on opponents from a different time..

The funny thing about the Smite one is in normal games you're not even allowed to surrender before the 10 minute mark in normal circumstances. You can only do that if a teammate never loaded in (at the 5 minute mark) or in a custom game. So you couldn't even beat this time in a ranked game.

SC2 is very much still alive. It's very much a niche scene of dedicated fans, not the mass market of games like League of Legends, but it is still there and doing fine. You could argue that Heart of the Swarm basically is SC3 as it brought a similar level of change to things like available units as the change from SC1 to SC2. SC2 basically just went games as a service model and got regular updates rather than getting a new installment in the series.

with the smite game, the first game in the match the losing teams solo laner dc'd and the smite crew made them play it out. They made them play with a sub for game two, so with a sub in game 2 and losing game 1 to a dc, they just trolled and surrendered when it didnt work. Also, bellona (Baskin's god) has an ability where she swings around a hammer, then slams it down in front of her. The more people it hits on the swing around, the more the slam does. So she nuked them all with it lol

You should've put the 2 move loss by Schlatt in the Chess game category as a bonus. For those who don't know, there is no way to lose faster in chess than this. What Schlatt did was open up his frontline so that his opponent on her second turn just hade to move out her queen to a position where she can hit the king in the next round who at this point could only move one step closer the queen and no other unit on the board could've intercepted this. And the look of "oh shit" on his face makes me believe this mistake was genuine, like he didn't purposefully lose as fast as he did, I think he actually didn't realize how bad this move was.
