On another note, the thing with the Age Gap? I understand to SOME it could be possibly a concern??? I suppose??? But ya'll, Barry is 28 years old at the START of his superhero career. So what if Len is 32 or 42 (there has been debate about how old he actually is considering timelines and the construct OF time in the Flash universe as well as how young he DOES look for his age in both the newer comics and the Arrowverse shows)? Like Barry isn't a child ya'll. He's almost THIRTY. Some people say "you're so old!" when a normal person hits their thirties. If Barry was 18 years old (just barely a legal consenting adult) and Len were still his age, THEN I would be definitely concerned/a little conflicted about this ship. As it stands though, (in the shipping universe) Barry can make his own choices and so can Len, they are quite literally BOTH adults. And for those that say "But Barry could be manipulated by Snart BECAUSE he's so much younger than him!!! D:" First of all) There are a LOT more reasons Leonard Snart would be manipulating someone, especially Barry, than an age-gap in a relationship. If we get down to the realistic fundamental core here: They ARE still Superhero and Supervillain, and Len is a Criminal. He may bot have WANTED to become one, but he is one and he's veeeerrry good at it. So naturally he would be willing to, and HAS done in the past, manipulate the Flash and use his goodness against the speedster for his own personal gain. But never because or at least never JUST because Barry is quite possibly a decade or two younger than him. My SECOND over all point is this) Ya'll, Captain Cold's smart, chill, and a bit introverted. But he's not as mature as people try to play him off to be. He literally LIVES to make puns out of everything and a joke out of himself. You know what they say about kids without childhoods right? They grow up to be adults that can behave a little too childishly. Yes, Len can be serious, yes he can BE mature, but 9/10 he doesn't WANT to be a brooding and mature adult. I mean even seriously, he even calls his epic fights (that sometimes harm parts of the city or get innocent people involved) a "Game" between he and the Flash. He doesn't take have as much stuff as seriously as people THINK he does. Likewise, on the other front, Barry can be playful and impish and naturally be a bit of clumsy goofball. But he's ACTUALLY very very mature for his age. After everything he's been through in his life? You really think that boy would be a little innocent baby who couldn't decide how to make his own damn adult decisions in life? He does it all the time as a hero! I'll leave off with this, as the once fabulous sassmaster, Leonard Snart once said to Barry Allen: "This works because you see the good in me, and I see the BAD in you~"

I really don’t understand this concern with age gaps, as long as both parties are consenting adults there shouldn’t be an issue. A lot of people say “they are younger so they could be manipulative by an older person” and I think that’s really oversimplifying relationships, every couple has a unique dinamic aided by their different personalities. The fact is that there are young people with the emotional maturity for a relationship with an older person and there are older people that cannot function in that environment. Am not saying that older people manipulating younger ones in relationships doesn’t happen, in fact I’m aware it happens quite often, but shouldn’t it be judge in a case by case basis instead of just as a hard rule? Also is fannon, there are many relationships that I think would be toxic but people still write fics about it being perfectly healthy and vice versa. Everyone has a different view on how a relationship will play out and it’s not really fair to impose your personal take on every else’s.

Captain Cold is one the most fun characetrs in the whole DCW (or Arrowverse, or Flarrowverse, whatever you wanna call it). He had some of the best line deliveries. I especially liked this exchange from Season 1 of Legends of Tomorrow. "I am Vandal Savage, Ruler of Men! Who are you to oppose me?!" "Leonard Snart, Robber of ATMs!"

I am in that lonely corner of a Kara and Barry ship haha. I just want a parallel universe where they exist in same world and fight crime together like the parents in that movie "Sky High." Anyone else remember that? It's kinda fascinating to look as because it came out before superhero movies were really a genre as they are now. Anyway, love you shipper's guide!!!

Wait, wait! Age gap? Can I say the notion of dismissing a relationship (real o not) because one of them is much older than the other is insufferable to me? Just because one of them is younger doesn't mean that (s)he is being manipulated. Barry is a grown up man, with a job and responsibilities (and the trauma of his mother being murdered and his father being falsely imprisoned AND his adoptive family thinking he is naive and crazy for believing in that innocence). Even if the difference between them was of 20 years, Barry is mature enough to decide what he wants. And Len isn't a monster either. If one of them was 18 and the other 35-40, maybe I could think about it... But at the end of the day the mentality is a factor key that is not influenced by age. Seriously, at what point are we _adults enough_ to not have our relationship look upon down just for a few years of difference or experience? 25? 30?

Ahhhhhhh, i was waiting for this since I discovered your channel Edit: Honestly the Arrowverse (or Legends of superflarrow or a newer term "The Beebo-verse") is so wild, LoT and Flash are the only shows I still watch, but I kind of ship everyone? There are just... so many shippable moments

I love coldflash and had to watch this ASAP. 1. I don't really watch any of the Arrowverse shows, just sporadic episodes like the crossovers (or when Superman shows up in Supergirl because Tyler Hoechlin is amazing) 2. I also ship coldwave and coldflashwave because the interactions between Len and Mick are great, just as much as Len and Barry interacting. Zoom/Barry was fascinating to ship for a hot second too. 3. The AU Len (aka Leo) lasted too short and I really wanted to see him interact with Barry more (though Leo and Ray were cute together and I want more of them)

I really like Caitlin Snow and Barry Allen. They are both so smart and great heroes.

I screamed when I saw the notification Edit: I'm A huge arrowverse fan (no surprise) and I screamed partly bc of the universe rather than the ship itself xD I'm not the biggest coldflash shipper but I do find their dynamic intriguing and have glanced over a few fics. Enemy to lovers trope isn't one I am drawn too usually but the interaction between these two characters, from the glances/eye contact to their development just added a nice foundation for fic writers to work on. I just knew the fics would be interesting. The age discourse was one i pondered over and I can understand where they are coming from, but it doesn't really bother me in this case. As for my favourite show, it use to be Arrow then it just got... bad(still my baby tho) and legends just became so much fun; it might be my favourite at the moment. These shows have a special place in my heart no matter how bad it can get. Favourite ships: supercorp 100%, west-allen, Brainy X Winn, Sara x Kendra and my rare ship: Curtis and Rene. There are so many good ships and the canon relationship arent ones I hate or dislike, even olicity, I actually will defend felicity until my last breath.

The part about red and blue characters broke my mind. I... what... How have I never seen this?

1. I adore The Flash (mainly the first two seasons). It's my favorite part of Arrowverse (and the only one I actively watch). I also watched The Legends of tomorrow, because I'm in love with Snart. 2. My first The Flash ship was Barisco (Barry x Cisco), but during season 2 I moved to Coldflash and Harisco (Earth 2 Harry x Cisco) - as you can tell I don't really care about age gaps between two adults. I believe that physical age is not always equal to emotional maturity. 3. Coldflash is definitely my OTP with Barry (I don't have OTP per fandom, I have OTPs per character). I did not expect shipping them at all, but then Snart became more hero-ish and started to act almost like a friend to Barry. I like enemies to friends to lovers fanfics, but I remember reading one intriguing fic, where Barry wasn't adopted by Wests, lived in foster care, became a criminal and met Snart in jail (unfortunately it was unfinished). I need Coldflash shippable moments! Please (also I squeaked from excitement when I saw that The Book of Mormon gif)

Great video, as always. I love how you aren't afraid to delve into some of the fandom controversy. The age gap thing comes up again and again in fandom, there seems to always be at least one character who is nebulously "older" or "younger" and fandom spends half the series obsessing over clues to their canon age in order to decide whether their ship is problematic or not. (I'm not really all that attached to canon so I tend to not care. If the character is a 16-year-old played by a 24-year-old, I am totally fine with writing an AU where they're aged up to 28... or whatever I feel like doing.) For instance: in Teen Wolf it was Derek Hale. I think people screen-caped a photo of his driver's license to determine his canon age but... that show was so fast and lose with world-building details and continuity that it didn't really fit with the time-line of his backstory (I don't totally remember how it all fit together). Point is: fandom became very concerned that a 20-something was often shipped with a character who starts the series at age 16. But at the same time Lydia (also starting the show age 16) had a romantic arc with a nebulously-aged 20-something police deputy (Parrish graduated high school, served at least one tour in Iraq, and then joined the sheriff's department, which... might have involved a training program?? they also don't introduce him as being new to the job so how old is he?). This ended up not going anywhere, but it definitely wasn't framed as creepy, predatory, or problematic. I don't know a whole lot about the arrowverse, so I can't really speak to this pairing but I do always find it interesting how important framing is. The age-old example being Buffy and how neither of her vampire boyfriends were controversial for *age gap* reasons (that I know of anyways). But that did get brought up a lot with Bella/Edward. This has probably been discussed before, but still... food for thought. I guess this doesn't answer any of your questions and is kinda an essay, but... just something I find interesting. Fandom tends to be way more meticulous about a universe's inner logic than the show itself. But, lol, I guess show-runners have the luxury of always being able to ret-con anything if they want to.

10:40 - Not more than FIVE YEARS, between consenting adults of any age?! That is bizarrely extreme. You're telling me these people would clutch their pearls over a 40-year-old dating a 46-year-old? People have seriously taken this paranoia over age gaps waaaaay too far. Absolutely, it can lead to an imbalanced dynamic in some cases, but that won't always be the case when you're talking about consenting adults and I don't think you can just make blanket statements. In any case, when you're talking about two adults who are well old enough to make their own decisions about these things, it's really for them to figure out. You don't have to like it, for your ships or your own real-world relationships, but that doesn't mean you get to dictate what other people do. Personally I've never been a ColdFlash shipper - I didn't even finish Season 1 of The Flash, and if anything I shipped Barry and Iris. But if I felt the characters were suitable otherwise, I don't know that the age gap would bother me. Barry's in his late twenties - it's not even like he's barely into adulthood or something. I don't often go for ships with large age gaps, but it absolutely depends on the specifics. Recently I've been watching the old Avengers TV show (nothing to do with Marvel's Avengers; it's a classic spy show) and the actors (Diana Rigg and Patrick Macnee) were 16 years apart, yet the characters are super shippable. It's not really a big deal to me: They're both adults, they make sense together, they have an equal and mutually respectful dynamic, and I don't think the age issue would cause problems.

My husband is 9 years older then me. We meet, when I was 18 and I see no problem in an age gap. I live in one after all. And I love ColdFlash. Len can make Barry smile like almost no one, when they banter. I see the problem in Iris with Berry, Because they are basically siblings. They grew up together and they ended up together in the canon. No I don't get it. But Berry and Kara are cute together too, though.

hey just saw this. this is one of my otps it took me off guard and i fell in love with this quickly. ive read so many of these fics and love how it adresses so many issues from age gap to philisophy. iteresting theory on the red blue thing. and so many canon divergance and fix its. edit: i also love snowberry. i like pairing flash with cold based characters.

I prefer ColdWave over ColdFlash. The dynamic and history between Mick and Len is so engaging that I cant stop reading fanfics about how they met and grew attached to one another. They’re a family. Also has anyone else read the fanfics of Len and Mick finding a young Kara and Clark. They’re so much fun to read and the concept is just adorable.

I was a fan of the orginal way they do arrow with a slightly more realistic outlook on the story. Idk when but sometime in the early seasons I kinda just felt like it lost everything that made it enjoyable to me. Too much like a live action crack fic at times. That's kinda how it went with the rest. Flash actually lasted the longest cause I didn't stop watching until 3 seasons ago and even then was happy to watch if it was on. Just didn't go out of my way to. But for sure ColdFlash and Olviarry are my favourite ships from the arrowverse. Tho Captain Atom is fun too

To be honest it never occurred to me to ship these two, but I am absolutely not surprised. Right after I saw the thumbnail and title, I was like "Ooooh, that's interesting." I love the CW Leonard Snart, he is one of my favorites and I was so hurt when he "died" but I could totally see a relationship bloom between the two. As for the age gap, I had no idea it was that big. I thought Snart was in his mid-30s. and Barry was almost 30 at the start, so I don't see it as a big deal, even now.

I remember telling my husband when we watched the first few episodes of The Flash that had Captain Cold, "He has more chemistry with Barry than Iris does!"

The age gap is nothing, they're both grown. I was surprised but not worried. An age gap that concerns me is Tangled with Rapunzel just turned 18 and Flynn 26. Found out recently and adds a whole other dynamic for me. I still love them together but can see more now why they personalities can clash. ColdFlash sounds like a cool couple. Love CW shows.

The one ship of Leonard's I really want to cover is Captain Canary, or Leonard Snart and Sara Lance. They had a great relationship leading up to Snart's death at the end of Season 1 of Legends of Tomorrow. I think in many ways it would have helped to flesh out the characters. My reasons for thinking this are: 1. They know about and accept each others past. Each of them has had very poor experiences. Leonard from growing up in an abusive house where he felt responsible for his sister, and was forced to take part in criminal works, which led to him not really having many career choices and thus becoming a criminal. Sara from Oliver's boat crashing on Lee Anu (not sure how to spell it just say it) and getting trapped. She then was part of the league of assassins which was slightly traumatizing, having to kill with no thought to anyone else. But they both know what the other has been though and accept the other for who they are. They rarely try to force each other out of said comfort zone. 2. They work well to balance each other. Leonard was not a fan of most of the people on his team, but Sara and Mick were the people he would actively help on missions, but Sarh would challenge Leonard to be a better team player. (He also had the whole crew gets out thing, but... he didn't really work with people before Sara, in my opinion) Sara was still dealing with the blood lust problem, but Leonard called her back at a very important time because she was about to turn her conscience off to kill Stein. He knew that wasn't what the team needed. 3. It would be good to actually see her be bisexual. Sara Lance is supposed to be bisexual, but we have only seen her cheating with her sister's boyfriend, and in relationships with females so it would be nice to see the bisexuality more implicitly expressed. 4. Neither of them have powers. In my opinion that fact that neither of them have powers help to build the bond because they both know what it takes to be able to compete with these people who were just given powers. While I know Snart stole the gun, but he needs his brain more than the gun, because it is what really allows him to compete with the likes of the Flash because if he didn't know how to plan it wouldn't work. Sara while kinda forced into did pretty much become the perfect killing machine and she wouldn't be as integral to the story if she had not. 5. The actors worked very well together. From the first scene that Wentworth and Caity had together they had a slight flirtation. This was unscripted, and this chemistr lead the entirety of the ship so they did a great job. Anyway, I am now done. I am sure this is much too long, but I feel like this ship needs more love so I keep trying to put it out there. I mentioned it in a few of your chats. I love ColdFlash and I'm perfectly content to have them simply bicker at each other on the show, so I can read tons of fan fic about them. I have never thought about their ages, to me they are just both adults. There are fics out there that de-age Barry make him seem younger, but I've noticed that a lot with really attractive people. It happens a ton in K-pop, where the talent is often in their mid to late twenties, but their fans tend to want them to be cute & innocent, which I think is dangerous for a variety of reasons. I like Olicity, but I never actually wanted them to be together. I feel like Felicity's character gets diminished to "the girlfriend/wife" when matched with Oliver. I cherish the episodes when we learn about Felicity's past, showing that she's more than just a hacker who loves designer clothes. My current Arrowverse pairing is Ray/Nate from Legends of Tomorrow.

Legends is probably my favorite at this point, based on quality, although the one I'm most involved in the fandom of is Supergirl. 3. Ships I support to various degrees: Barry/Iris (Westallen), Joe/Cecile (Joecile), Kara/Lena (although not as much as I used to) (Supercorp), Kara/Brainy (Karadox), James/Lena (Guardiancorp), Imra/Mon-El (Saturnvalor), Winn/Brainy (Winndox), Sam/Alex (Danvarias), Ava/Sara (Avalance), Gary/Constantine (Constangreen), and in season 1 of Supergirl I really liked Kara/James and Kara/Lucy. I read and write the most for Supercorp, Karadox, and Winndox. 4. I caught up on Flash late, so I wasn't really thinking about Coldflash? But I can certainly see why people ship it, and I enjoy their friendship and interactions, but personally it isn't my thing.

YEEEEEEEESSS I SCREECHED WHEN I GOT THE NOTIFICATION!!!! I HAVE BEEN SILENTLY HOPING AND BEGGING YOU WOULD FINALLY DISCUSS MY NUMBER ONE SHIP/OTP (Coldwave is a close second considering there is a LOT of actual evidence in the cannon comics themselves that Len and Mick are married. Also Wentworth Miller has confirmed that Leonard Snart is Pansexual.) UGH I JUST LOVE ALL THIS SO MUCH LEN IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE CHARACTER ANYWHERE IN THE WHOLE FRICKTY FRACKIN UNIVERSE AND YOU FINALLY MADE A VIDEO ABOUT HIM IN HIS BEST SHIP!!! I'm crying. I am dead.

I remember that growing up everyone in my town talked about the "creepy dating rule" - If the youger partner was younger than (Older partner's age)/2 +7, it was creepy. By that standard, a 17 year age gap is fine so long as the younger partner is at least 30 (47/2+7 = 30.5). So I can totally see how even for people who think age gaps can widen as people get older would be uncomfortable with this one, especially if they're inclined to dislike any of the other potentially problematic factors)

I am a multishipper all the way! Barry/Iris, Barry/Oliver, Barry/Leonard, Mick/Leonard, Cisco/Gypsy, Cisco/Lisa, Iris/Eddie, and on and on and on (and that doesn't even include all the comic based pairings!). It's fun exploring so many different character dynamics within one fandom :)

1. Back when Arrow first started, I liked it, even though I didn't know anything about Green Arrow except for how he was portrayed in JLU. My ships were Oliver x Laurel and Oliver x Quentin (the ship name for this couple being Quiver, lol). Eventually, though I stopped watching because I didn't have time and found more interesting things. 2. I do ship Coldflash, but not to the usual degree I usually ship Foe Yay pairings. It was kinda annoying to look for fics with completely unrelated pairings (those with neither Barry or Snart in the relationship) and find ColdFlash as a background pairing, even though I don't mind the ship. 3. For Barry, my dominant ship is Westhallen (Eddie x Iris x Barry). I found the potential dynamics intriguing. (Plus OT3's are the best!!!) But I also ship him with Oliver, Hartley, Cisco and Kara. 4. I don't actually have as many ships for Cold as I do Barry. Aside from ColdFlash, I ship him with Cisco and Mick. 5. Caitlin and Felicity are probably the only characters I don't ship Barry with. Caitlin, because I like her and Ronny (I also ship her with Eobard, especially as Killer Frost), and I'm really not a fan of Felicity at all.

Honestly, ColdFlash is my OTP of the Arrow verse, I can't ship Barry with anyone else unless it's an ot3.

I do enjoy watching the Arowverse but over the past year the only one I tend to keep up with is Legends of Tomorrow just because it feels like it's getting better with age and they accept their cheesiness. I was curious about ColdFlash and yeah, after this video, I could definitely see myself shipping this, but in the shows themselves I don't really have any ships, which is weird for me. But I guess I've found one now! lol

I like this ship a lot more in concept than on practice. Cold's tone of voice like all the time makes it hard for me to picture him being serious in a relationship, even after seeing alternate universe Cold and his fiance.

I used to adore The Flash; it was loads of fun and its central theme of family and self-discovery was wonderful. Last year I fell away from it as it felt like the story was going in circles and I no longer cared as much about what was going on. Every season featured a new speedster, be they good or bad, and the once-thrilling opportunities brought on by the multiple Earths now felt tiring and dumb. I don't say this to attack or shame anyone who feels differently/enjoys the show to this day, and I'm always curious if I should give it another go, either skimming thru from where I left off, or skipping ahead to some point further on.

1. I watch all the shows, I love the Arrowverse but LoT is probably my favorite 2. I probably have ships that I don't even know I ship, but a couple of my favorites are coldwave, and olivarry, but I'm a multishipper so there are a ton sprinkled in there 3. In regards to how I feel about coldflash, it never even really occurred to me as a ship until I accidentally stumbled upon one of the fics for it. But even so I said I am a multishipper, but there are a few pairings where I don't want them to be with anyone else, such as coldwave, Mick and Leo. I'm not sure why that ships stands out to me as an otp, but I don't really like coldflash because of it. But as I say this, take in mind that I am not telling other people not to ship this, just that I myself to not find any attraction to this ship. Sorry for the essay, but here's my opinion (Also you should totally make a coldwave video)

I cam across Coldflash by accident. Flash is my favorite show in the arroverse and I have always loved Snart and I cry every time when I see his demise. And I was a firm shipper of WestAllen so imagine my surprise to find this ship. At first I said no, this is wrong, but as I read some fics and watched the show more closely I began to love it. Coldflashwave had become my OT3 from the discovery

I've never watched the flash, but i'm a fan of supergirl and legends of tomorrow and from those fandoms I hear about Westallen a far bit, but I never even realised ColdFlash was a ship, I guess Westallen appeals more to the parts of the fandom that are also big on those other shows.

Even though the last part was not released yet in my country, in America the last part of Legend or Korra: Turf Wars was released this month. Because of that I would be happy if you did another Korrasami video in the future. (I can wait until after the beginning of October because then the final part releases in my country ^^)

That age gap argument is such a broken record by now.

My lonely Arrowverse ship is definitely KillerVibe (Cisco x Caitlyn). There is a small community surrounding it but I’m hoping season 5 has heaps of moments that will make more people consider it!

I have never watched or read any official Flash content, but I somehow ended up reading fanfic called Singularity by Enina, and have shipped ColdFlash ever since. (Sorry my bad english I tried my best)

At this point, Legends is the only one I enjoy. Black Lightling isn't connected yet and Constantine was connected retroactively.

I watched half this video, then went and shipped my heart out. THEN I finished the video in the car like...3 days later xD

I have been binging The Flash on Netflix, so seeing this pairing get a video is sooo exciting. I watch Supergirl and The Flash, as they are the ones currently on Netflix I found. I watched Supergirl first and am squarely in the KaraBarry shipping corner. I ship Barry with a shit ton of people though! I like him with Caitlin, Cisco, Felicity, Iris, Wally, Leonard, Jesse, and I even liked him with Patty. I thought she was so cute. My boy is even in some threeways with RonnieCaitlinBarry, IrisBarryPatty, KillerFrostBarryLeonard. IrisBarryKara... Need I keep going? :)

I actually really love ColdFlash, it's one of my OTPS, but I personally lean a little more so towards Barrison then anything. Still, I think Coldflash is extremely interesting and love reading fics concerning it. Thanks for another great vid!

I am very happy to be in this fandom as multi shipper. Thus I can enjoy all the canon ships (though not those from Supergirl as I don't watch the show so I rlly can't say anything about that) as well as those Kara/Barry and coldwave ships. Felicity/Barry and Katelyn/Barry not so much though as I really like the portrayal of close male-female friendships (between non-gay characters). And don't worry, I can see the contradiction there (what w Kara & Barry also being friends) but hey, what you do and don't ship can be unpredictable and irrational.😁🤗

I pretty much enjoy the Arrowverse, some series more than others, I totally love Legends of Tomorrow, to me it's like a crossover every episode and I just love the interactions. I shipped Sara Lance and Snart even before they kissed. I was aware of this pairing, but didn't really give it that much thought until now and I totally love it. I have my fair share of ships but I am not aware of all there is to this shows. Also, loved the video, really excited for the next one

Well, i dont watch any show in this verse (although I should. It's on my list) I'll talk about age gaps... I never care too much about age gaps (unless one of them is 16 (21 is the oldest I'll go for then) etc... 17 would be 24ish, 18 is 28ish... and 19 is 30... give or take for all...) However one of my OTPs from a different fandom had an age gap so 1500ish years... seriously being in the Hetalia fandom made me not care about age gaps too much. It's only fiction. IRL my thinking goes: if it's illegal then no. (Like a 16 year old and a 22 year old) Note. When writing this I learnt that Hong Kong was created in 1514! Like what??

I have been in the Flash fandom since the TV show came out and I had never thought of shipping these two together XD but after this video I LOVE it I've been shipping Caitlyn and Cisco since the beginning as a couple and friends and I also love Coldwave. Kara and Barry definitely sound cute and I'm open to that. Heck, I'm a multishipper, I'm open to most of the ships in this show!
