@@literalist.By that logic, there shouldn't be a single moment where something doesn't float for a single moment after being thrown into the air. It takes a moment for the force behind the thing to disappear and let gravity take its place, that's how the force of momentum works. The video was slowed down so you could see what was actually happening so yes it looks like the blade is floating, but that is not what is happening.

the backflip thats also a launch of more than double his height, which if hes 6 foot, would already be breaking the world record of the highest vertical.

There is no difference. He doesnt see a sword and a sheath. He see's a single weapon. 2 parts to a single item. And his training being based on this ensured he respected both parts and trained with both parts equally. And both parts being one thing arent viewed as a separate thing, but also just an extension of self. The philosophy is as impressive as the practice.
At least in my country you have to register with the police if you practice any kind of martial arts... They give you a credential saying that you can kill a person with your bare hands and that you are obligated to say so before you get into a fight...

no one "back in the day" is fighting like this ... hate to break it to you. Fighting with weapons in combat usually involves really direct movements, with planted footwork to keep balance. You want techniques to be simple so that when fear and adrenaline kick in (which they will, because everyone gets scared when they can die) you can actually do them. This bloke wouldn't be able to pull off half of this shit if someone was trying to kill him at the same time
I'm not trying to criticize since I certainly have questions about this video as well. But I'm a little surprised that the backflip is what you're questioning. You should check out the shoalin monks. (Sorry, I might have misspelled that). They're pretty insane... I also have never forgotten something Jackie Chan talked about once in an old interview he did. I don't remember if he said it was when he was 4 or 6 years old, he was trained in Chinese opera and the instructor would demand him to do backflips over a big table like a picnic table, and if he didn't, he would be beaten. So he just did them and that was all there was to it. For the people who devote there whole existence to training their bodies, they really can achieve "super human" abilities. ... But again, I say these things but I still have my doubts about this particular video and lots of other videos like it, since so many people now just do lots of editing and put the vids out there to try to get views.
