Everyone in the pokemon community seems to really, really like being right and I love how you aren't upset about being wrong or misinformed about something.
I feel like I already know what this video is going to tell me, but I'll still watch because I enjoy and appreciate the content Austin's been putting out for this game over the past few weeks.
That conversation with the Eevee 😂 I did know that having it collect items and breaking things raises friendship, but I didn't know about the exp stuff :) I'm learning all kinds of stuff from this, thanks Austin! My first shiny alpha was Carnivine when I was looking for pokemon I didn't have lol
HEY AUTSIN! I was also playing around with friendship evolutions and found that simply NAMING an Eevee also contributes towards increasing the friendship level. It wasn’t a significant increase but it’s something.
Another strategy that's slow, but mindless is to just put the pokemon in your party, lead with a lvl 100 pokemon that can beat anything with its first move, and then spam battles by just pressing "A" when talking to Ingo. If you have a turbo controller, you can afk farm experience and friendship. Great for multiple eevees (or those baby evolution research tasks) as you can do 5 pokemon at a time this way.
I’m so glad you posted this. I got my first shiny alpha. Chingling. Edit: I just noticed you didn’t mention Chingling as a friendship evolution. I’ll be honest, that’s how much I care the Pokémon, myself.
This could've been so helpful yesterday that I found a shiny Eevee during a mass outbreak... I was like Austin doesn't have a guide for friendship yet. Anyways, thanks for the awesome videos! I'm just in love with this game... and my shiny Espeon
HAH! I was right I found it easy to freindship evolve. My playstyle focuses on gathering all resources and I instinctively used the friendship evolvers on trees/ore etc. Also it seemed that catching pokemon was helping too!
From the looks of it, I don't think the actions of breaking rocks or giving candies give friendship themselves, rather a Pokémon gains friendship every time it gets experience or levels up, and the amount of experience doesn't look like it matters. So catching a Pokémon, battling a Pokémon, breaking things, and giving experience candy all give some amount of experience and also raised friendship. However, when you hit the tree but fled the battle, you didn't get any experience, therefore, no friendship. So I'd say the best way to level up friendship is to perform a bunch of actions that give some amount of experience. This does beg the question of how friendship would work for a level 100 Pokémon though.
The way this game works, i think you can still gather FP from the rocks and stuff and be able to evolve the pokemon at cap SWSH let you evolve lvl 100 pokemon by using a rare candy on them so why wouldnt this game let you evolve lvl 100 pokemon, too? especially since you can evolve them literally whenever
I gotta say since I've been watching your Legends Arceus videos, I absolutely LOVE how you talk to your Pokemon if they're out and about. It honestly makes my day/night 10x better.
I had a feeling that throwing my Pokémon at rocks and trees gave them friendship points while I was doing my playthrough. It should also be noted that the rocks and trees give experience points in increasing values as you progress to the different areas. If you start out with a low-level Pokémon, the levels you gain from that experience can also help raise your friendship.
8:20 the zoom your music playing in slow-so (slow sound) was perrrfect lol I love it. That was exciting to see too cause I saw your tweet about it! I’ve done the screen recording to check for the shiny sound too 💀
😂 you released this video with the best timing, right as I had been talking to my friend about how I had finally gotten Gabite and Electivire and just needed to find or catch an Espeon and I was good to go challenge God my phone went off with the video, I love your content man, keep it up 👉😎👉
Thanks for all these tutorials man! I love your work a lot. These tutorials and how there well said on how to do these things is great! I’ve been looking at your others as well and I finally got some stuff done. Keep up the great work! ^^
2:20 I manged to find an Alpha Zubat, it was really hard to find without the glowing eyes I mostly heard a cry that sounded alpha-ish in 1st area but it looked like a regular Zubat till it knocked me off my mount, really easy to miss
I saw alpha Zubat lvl 29 near the grand tree arena area. Then the normal alpha Golbat lvl 35 spawn by oreburrow tunnel area. I caught both and worked to alpha Crobat x2. Caught the 3rd Crobat in wayward cave area. Was a good bat day 🙂
Thank you so much for this guide! There is one method that you didn't address however: just walking around with the Pokémon in your party. In previous games this would gradually increase friendship after a certain number of steps, but you didn't mention it among the methods that do still or no longer work...
I'm gonna guess it doesn't, because I did the same, not doing much else bc I wasn't really trying to catch anything, and it took a really long time just to break alot of stuff. It definitely feels alot harder.
Hey, I just had the luckiest day ever today in the game, I caught 16 shinies! All but five of them were random full odds, and the others were in the first bunch of their outbreaks. One of them was an eevee and I love shiny umbreon so I’m really glad that this video got released on my best shiny day ever!
I've got this video playing in the background while playing Legends Arceus, and I paused the video at 7:29 because I thought I heard a shiny Pokemon appear, then paused the game and took a capture. I kid you not, I found a SHINY ALPHA Staravia. First ever shiny alpha. What in the WORLD are the chances!? It's too bad this comment is going to be buried, this feels like such a crazy coincidence.
I remember being this happy catching my first ever shiny natural gigantamax before DLC, knowing how awesome that was. And then pokemon said, you know what? SOUP!
I've been watching a ton of different pokemon videos and RU-vidrs recently and you are handsdown the most informative and entertaining one to watch. Thank you for these awesome regular uploads and please keep it up!
Perfect timing! Came back to see your shiny trick for an evee outbreak yesterday and I caught one in the first advance :D Now this is exactly what I was looking for my future shiny Umbreon. By far the best pokemon youtuber thanks for all your work.
My first alpha shiny was a alpha staravia that I couldn’t catch because of how low I am. I was devastated. My squad of Bidoof and my lvl 7 ace Oshawatt weren’t enough
For whatever reason I like to start my game out with an eveeloution team that isn't over leveled. I caught an evee at level 2 and evolved into Umbreon at 11 and a half by farming with it and only fighting level 2,3, and 4 level wild pokemon. That is lowest level I've had a friendship evolve
Something I've noticed about the Pokémon in trees, rocks, and crates; you have to defeat ALL the wild Pokémon in the battle for it to count, not just the one that jumped out. Gligar robbed me of a lot of items before I realized that
Ive never commented ever, love the videos so helpful, watch and like always, but honestly the genuine happiness on your face for the alpha shiny was amazing! Made my day!
Congrats on your first shiny alpha! I got a shiny alpha Eevee in my first mass outbreak very early in the game so I thought they were more common. Made to the post game last night and my misconception has been thoroughly debunked! 😅
Thank you so much Austin, I was playing for hours leveling up my Togepi and after watching your video he evolved in like 10 mins of throwing him at stuff
"See, using items does not work in this--" Eevee can evolve! "... Wait." I burst out laughing. Btw, your video on Shiny hunting via outbreaks worked like a charm for me. I normally have horrible bad luck when it comes to Shinies, but it only took me five resets before I caught my first intentional Shiny (I'd caught previously a Glalie and Magmar just walking around, looking for resources). Thanks for the Shiny Goomy, dude!
16:27 I know that feeling. I was farming grit, so I was going around and catching all the Alphas in the Fieldlands. I went to get the Alpha Scyther behind Kleavor's tree, and I caught the Alpha... but then I heard another Alpha Scyther, turned around, and BAM there was a shiny Alpha Scyther.
seeing how excited you get from the alpha shiny makes me happy Q_Q you put some much work into making content for us and with this many hours you still didnt have one... so finally seeing it is so awesome. cant thank you enough for all the work you do and making such incredible guides and stuff!
This literally could not have been timed better. Just last night I hit the point in the Pokédex where I need umbreon and espeon and was almost resolved to waiting for a distortion to give them
Just take an immediate left in Coronet Highlands summit camp and break all the breakables. You get free items and exp, and 3 runs guarantee a friendship evo.
I’m really glad AJP cut in the information from future Austin about XP candies raising friendship because they do but it’s so slight that you feel like they don’t. When I was testing it myself I felt like there was no difference regardless of what size candy you used but I could be wrong.
I did that mistake of not removing Baby Doll eyes when trying to get Umbreon. I was a bit mad when that happened. I found out online how it works and haven't made that same mistake.
Um funny coincidence I was shiny hunting buizel in legends arceus wile watching this And right when you saw the shiny alpha staravia I encountered my shiny alpha floatzil
Thanks for all your help! One of the videos that would have been very helpful for me would be how to reset shaking trees and ores to get more spawns. I'm 45 'mons into my Perfect Pokédex Quest, and tree Pokémon need so many encounters, and knowing how to get them as quickly as possible without rezoning over and over would have been nice. From my research, it seems to be that trees (and ore,I suppose) can't spawn new Pokémon if they have berries in them. So the best way is to empty all the trees that have the spawns you want, so that later when the berries repopulate, they can possibly have spawns in them.
There's a RU-vidr named Tyranitartube and he actually found a glitch where he can't complete the game, and the glitch is basically when he caught the Azelf another Azelf pop up and when he catches it, he can no longer get Mesprit because he already caught 3 lake guardians which is an Uxie and 2 Azelfs because of it he also got a plate to finish the lake guardian mission and now he actually cannot catch Mesprit anymore
I figured out you could grind friendship on the crappy rocks and trees in the first area on my second playthrough when I made an Eeveelution team for fun. In addition, the Eevee I bonked on the head like a jerk took a lot longer to evolve via this method. I didn't know that using experience candy on one Pokémon gives friendship to the other ones as well. That was weird. Did he not notice that?
Amazing! The feels when you were doing recording and get accidental shiny was so satisfying. It happens to me with Shiny Alpha Torterra too. She was Adamant Nature even
Listening to this the first time, I hope you realize you can also throw your new friends at random items on the ground for them to pick up too. Basically, any chance you get a chance to break your friend out, aside from just talking to them, seems to count in some way (at least to my testing)
Thank you so much and I appreciate these videos as well as the hard work that goes into them. The Wisp videos in particular, and another to help me catch Munchlax was very helpful. You have great advice and its easy to follow along, thanks again!
I do like the conversation Austin had with his shiny eevee... but I belive you might have learned this since the video has came out... but if you press A B and Y, it will make your charecter do diffrent stuff, and the pokemon would react to the action (A is a head nod/positive response, B is a head shake/negative response, and Y is a arm pump movement/aggressive response or the battle cry animation, the pokemon does have a chance to not understand/no reaction), I dont know if this raises friendship or not (maybe does, but very slowly)
'sylveon will always override the other two' untrue: i evolved an eevee with high friendship at night with baby doll eyes and it evolved into umbreon. i remember because as it was evolving i realized it still had the move and i had autosave on and i freaked out because i wanted an umbreon and didnt want to do another friendship round with another eevee this was before the 1.0.2 patch but i dont think that affects this
I am 33 years old and haven't been this excited about Pokemon since Red & Blue as a kid. The last games I really loved were Black & White on DS though I played most of the games up to X&Y and that game and the series progression towards easier repetitive bland 3D just turned me off from the series. The Gameboy, GBA, and DS games are the best in the series though I think GBA titles are my favorite not accounting for Nostalgia. Anyways I love the way you cover the Pokemon series with such fervor and detail. I've been watching for the last 33 hours that I've been playing and your guides have been helpful. I don't have as much time to play games and wander aimlessly as I did as a kid so these help. The polish to your videos is appreciated too. Thanks for all the work you do. -Spike
I did a new play through and I won’t lie, just running around with Eevee and having it break rocks and stuff had it wanting to evolve really fast to me
simple way to remember it: you gain 1 friendship from ANY source of experience If they implement that in the next 'original formula' games, I'd be up for that. But ONLY if they make the friendship battle bonuses optional (like literally togglable in settings)
Another way to level up friendship fast is to get a strong Pokémon up front, then spam the Ingo fights at the training grounds, gets friendship points from the levels and winning battles, and can be done while focusing on something else. Don’t know if it is faster than grinding rocks/ trees but definitely requires less player input
If that's the case it may be just have in party as iv had a hapany evolved into a chancy into a blissey from just throwing balls and collecting matirials
