Freepik is a great source for free graphics, they have hundreds of jack o lantern faces and other holiday graphics.

I use my laser engraver to cut faces. Get faces from the internet, many are coloring pages that I download.

I was sceptical at first, but I really think the rounded corners look better. Especially for the nose hole. Well done. Since I live in a small appartment now with limited access to woodowrking tools and space, I've been looking for a seasonal project I can sell. I'll have to snag this one! Just off the top of my head, I can see a thanksgiving and Christmas variant. Maybe a New Years one...

Oooooo! I bought a used router from a guy and he gave me a bunch of bits (including this one) and the bushings. I had no idea what those bushings were for but now I know! Wow! How fun! I've got to try this!

I've just made a bunch of these using a CNC, a Jigsaw, and a Scroll Saw to see which was best for me. I'm not sure why I didn't think of a router template. It looks much, much faster for the simpler, smoother faces. Definitely giving this a go! :)

"No Jigsaw, No Scroll saw, No CNC" 😂 But you do need a router 🤦‍♂️ most people don't have routers and they're more difficult to use than a cheap jigsaw

There are a lot of good beginner router videos on YT :) It is not hard, you sure need an understanding of operations. I plan to do more videos on beginner usage.

$20 but that was last year when the plywood prices were a bit lower. I sell them unfinished for that price. Most customers want to decorate themselves

Subbed I’ve done the guide bushing trick on some of my repetitive builds…makes life so much easier and like most woodworkers exactness, squareness, consistency and flawlessness are always the target (not necessarily the outcome) but using templates with a router is a step towards that goal……just gotta make one really really perfect template and the rest is a breeze 👍

I build to the customers specs usually. If I have extra time or ideas, I will usually whip a stock item out and list it for sale. Many items are hard to replicate sometimes, but I do my best :)

Nice vid, Kevin. I have a Ryobi trim router, but annoyingly you cant get collars for them. This could probably be done with a copying bit as well. Cheers, and thanks for sharing.

Great idea with a pattern bit. I am thinking about investing in some spiral cutt pattern bits. RE collars: couldn't you use a standard collar set for another brand and adapt the plastic baseplate to accept it?

Видно, что хороший человек, и старается, но - к чему такие сложности? Лобзик установить вверх ногами в крышку табуретки, дрелью насверлить входных отверстий для пилки - сел рядом на табурет и в путь. И сколы от пилки все будут с внутренней стороны....

@MakinSawdust I'm new to woodworking, and I just purchased a Bosch plunge router 1/2", but it came with a 1/4" Collette adapter. My question is this: What 1/4" bit should I buy for doing my box 'O lantern? Also, do you have a preferred brand of bits?

@@michelleleeginger5225 I would use a 1/4" or 3/16" single or double flute bit. Use the collar sleeve as well like I show in video. Amana bits are a bit pricey, but super high quality. I would stay with a more affordable bit to start with because you are new to woodworking. You mayy break a bit while youare learning the technique

This video is 2 years old, so I'm late to another party, oh well. I have a question, that I hope isn't too stupid... Would it save time to free-hand the original faces, with your round bit? Then, when it's time to mass cut them, using the hand-routed faces as a guide, you can go to town. I'm just a curious kinda guy. Thanks!!

I have been using a palm router with CNC bit as small as 1/16 and you can make them square tiny lines to get spooky teeth and I think that would actually be really cool thank you.

Thats,the only tool I dont have yet. Router. My husband was given me some of his old tools. Which I didn't care if it 2as used or not. I love theses boxes. Why? Throw the sheet on the CNC, cut and you have many cut at once while you do something else. Should take 5 mins.

I’m not being rude here but just observing. Sometimes, it’s about making cool things that also sell. These pieces look so generic and uninspired. Maybe try throwing some paint on them and varying the face designs. It may take some extra time but folks are willing to spend for quality.

Would it work with a 1/8" straight bit, or would it be too hard on the bit? The smaller bit would tighten up the corners, if one wanted to do that. Thanks!

I'm guessing that it would be hard on the 1/8 bit. If you use it my suggestion is just take it slow. Using 1/3" plywood could cause bit deflection if you cut to fast

In my head I see a curved template plate that can be secured to the tube. I think you could use the same technique I used here

I made a couple last year for personal use. Would like to do some to sale but can't find a smaller pattern the ones I had last year was from a pumpkin kit and are too wide to use on anything smaller like a cedar picket

Try copying the pattern then reducing the size on a copier or printer until you get the size you need.
