dont think that because its lost it'll never be found again, things are always found eventually again, could be a week from now, could be 30 years, sometime though it WILL get out if it was a triple A studio, and its possible its n-space for sure, which would be ironic as it would mean they had 2 halo games cancelled, but i have faith there are more builds, somewhere in existance, the one in ign may be lost but i mean someones gotta still have it somewhere, likely its just hoarded and kept secret like most games like that

For me the thing that dates this the most is how IGN used to be respected and viewed as a valid source of information. Now EVERYONE views them and other games journalists as the lolcows they are.

Odds are, this was an unauthorized project and given a cease and desist where all copies were ordered by Microsoft to be liquidated. Its a shame but this is probably what happened given Halo to this day has never ventured into a Sony or Nintendo console outside Fortnite cameos. I hope perhaps somewhere out there, a build of this still exists. I remember the hype given it was possible to System Link Nintendo DS and have 2 v 2 matches.

God I'm old, I used to work on these projects. Halo DS and halo solitude for PSP. I made maps and art work and worked on some engine code for the quake mod. I still have a lot of code and stuff in my laptop and on my memory cards for psp

I think it was official at some point that's too good of a build to be a mod especially for back then imo. I think it just got cancelled and scrubbed

I remember when that original ign video came out. I was showing it to every kid I was friends with lol. I waited so long to play it and was heart broken when I found out years later that the video was a fake and it was just a quake or 007 mod

Wow, this is a COMPLETELY different Halo DS game than the one I was thinking of. I never knew about this one, especially hearing it was before Halo 3. The one I was thinking of was the 3DS port of Halo 2 by the developer High Voltage. During an E3 they were asked if they were making a Conduit 3, and instead they pull out a 3DS and showed a port of Halo 2 on it. But it wasn't just a straight port, as they used new graphical techniques to polish it up a bit (they were known tech wizards if you know what they did to Conduit 2 on Wii). So it was sort of remastered. They claimed they had been in talks with Microsoft so they had their blessing to make the game, but not the greenlight to publish it yet. I'd guess that if that were true, then it got cancelled due to the 3DS failing at the time. That or because they revealed it to the public too early without Microsoft's permission.

At least there is Halo Revamped for 3DS. Pretty fun game with enough people

Halo DS would have instantly become my favorite childhood game had it happened. Road trips with the brothers would have been even better with Halo alongside Mario Kart DS, Pokémon DPP, and New Super Mario Brothers DS.

Goldeneye RA was probably one of the best shooters on the DS, second only to Prime Hunters, it'd certainly be the ideal engine for other franchises to port to

do you know anything about when it was announced by gamespot that halo ce would be ported to PS2? they had it on there in like 2004, it could have been a build that was made around the time of the DS build by a company pitching making a port?

I don’t know if you’ll see this but can you if possible check out the halo interactive strategy game? I recently found its disc and it has little videos on it and uses a lot of stuff from 3. I think it’s a table top game but there’s barely any videos on RU-vid of it. There’s the actual pieces with it for the game but I found the disc most interesting because of its menus and 3 campaigns with little videos to set up the level. Also the multiplayer voice talks over the objective for both unsc and covenant.

I remember seeing that, and I defo remember it was using assets from Goldeneye Rogue Agent. That game sucked though lol, I'm not surprised there aren't mod tools. Metroid Prime Hunters was good though. That was probably the best shooter on the DS, and likely the closest thing resembling Halo DS one can actually enjoy.
