“There needs to be fairytales for the internet […] so that kids know what they’re getting into.” For a while now, I’ve been thinking about writing a drawing a story for my niece. Thank you for the inspiration; this is an important message.
Walter Benjamin believed Mickey mouse films were the new fairy tales that exposed children to the hiperaccelerated (by early xxth century standards) rhythms of cinema and modern life.
i feel like there was an orthodoxy on the internet back in the 90s and 00s during the height of forums (don't feed the trolls, don't share personal info online, lurk moar), but it fell apart once most people owned a smartphone. For an orthodoxy to form there needs to be a certain amount of gatekeeping and quality check in place
@@marcopivetta7796 Fantastic point, there's no degree of separation between the screen and yourself anymore.

I think a web orthodoxy already exists in some manner, especially on social media where the content we see and consume is directed by certain flows, certains energy driven by the people who possess them, who decided what things the algorithm would privilege to put ahead of us But if considered seriously by our rulers, what would this orthodoxy looks like ? Who would be in charge ? I think there is a certain degree of inherent chaos to the internet, you cannot really control it, people will always find ways and private networks to share whatever they need to share
A web orthodoxy would simply be standards or rules people ought to follow before posting or interacting with content online. the people in charge in this day and age would be social media site owners unfortunately or niche internet forum owners. so not much will be done about this any time soon. if something were to fall outside the orthodoxy, it's not bad, it just needs to be examined closely. it's the equivalent of discovering a glitch. even back in the wild west of the internet, people followed certain standards or etiquettes when sharing and discussing ideas. i wish most internet users could agree on following certain protocols, especially if it's relating to content that upsets them

@@abigguy354 i miss when dedicated and volunteers 30 years old nerds where in charge of the internet Now it’s people like musk But I imagine something in the future where the internet is very regulated, but the authorities would still allow a single plateform where everything is permitted, kinda like the trash of the internet, to let the repressed being expressed It would make a good movie, i should write it
In my very limited experience, Tarot is far more useful for discerning why a decision is made, rather than what decision should be made. It’s not about asking the Tarot a direct question, and getting a direct answer, but more about considering the question, and using the symbology of the card drawn to evoke a better understanding of the question. In my eyes, the Tarot are best seen as symbolic mirrors. The Tarot does not give you the answer, it draws the answer out of you. Or perhaps I’m wrong, I am a fool after all. I don’t see the unconscious as something inherently dangerous, at least not more so than letting such drives persist in their unconscious state. To paraphrase Jung, “If you do not make the unconscious conscious, it will run your life, and you will call it fate.” You may disagree, but an orthodoxy of occultism would be as disastrous as the orthodoxy of Christianity. It is that very orthodoxy which is responsible for two millennia of repressed desires which have come to manifest within the internet. It is ironic to me that much of the Christian movement today doesn’t realize that the degeneracy they oppose was of their own making. The horrors of the internet, and the horrors of the modern world cannot be destroyed, but must be reconciled, and put in their proper place.
How was it caused by Christianity? I can see an argument for repression begetting rebellion, yet a lot of cultures aren't christ-centric, not to mention the same degeneracy was happening in ancient times, you can see it in any old texts, "nothing new under the sun" after all, it is all a part of the eternal struggle of humanity
Dude I love your videos. You always bring up a lot of things I ruminate on. I might like these even more than your meme videos with how well they're done.
Yeah. Jung said he couldn’t automatically advise anyone to seek enlightenment. It’s quite dangerous. Sometimes the small-minded ego identification is the lesser evil
I know that you're not a fan of psychedelics/psychedelic culture, but I think that what you're saying here applies to that way as well, and the way drug culture has evolved in the west is a direct result of the introduction of powerful hallucinogens to a culture that has no orthodoxy, understanding, and comprehension of what is being engaged with in that arena. The can of worms being open, it now becomes important to take seriously the task of cultural integration and establishment of orthodoxy, with the knowledge that these tools produce just as much fools and grifters as occultism and the internet does. Hallucinogens I think could be slotted perfectly in the middle between occultism and the internet in this regard, same danger (perhaps more), some level of "reality" and "effectiveness", and some level of simulation/illusion.
There was a post/meme about "Normie people taking Ayahuasca and being oneshotted by 6D Mezoamerican Demons, leading them to be travelling strippers or something, yet people treat it like an entry level drug", this is audiovisualised and occulted version of that message.
@@theodoregabranth1800just saw that post again the other day it kills me every time “"Ayahuasca" is insane because it appears to be one of the most legitimately dangerous drugs with the potential to gigafry your brain but is exclusively taken by literal turbonormies who unironically want to like "heal internalized racism trauma" and basically get oneshotted by it” “Literally the most spiritually inept people in existence having their little lib brains rearranged by some Mesoamerican 6D demon who makes them quit their email job, divorce their bf/gf, and become a traveling circus stripper or whatever”
What an astounding synchronicity that you made this video, at least to me. I had an argument about tarot about two days ago, out of the blue, with christian acquaintance of mine, and it had been on my mind ever since. And of course, the one morning it isn't on my mind anymore, here's you.
From your view its a synchronicity. From your Christian friends point of viw they would just tell you that this was a demonic attack. This world is ruled by principalities and of course the evil one. If you were growing closer to God, then the demonic successfully pulled you back away from the true word of God, Christ with this video. Its called spiritual warfare. Christ is the incarnate living word of God. Not charlatan Jordan Peterson's abstract idea of God, or modern Judaism's idea that God is symbols therefore symbolic... Looking to Neitsche, Young and Peterson is to follow a bunch of drug addicted degenerate atheists. The problem with tarot is that while yes its not binary its still a limited set of options and therefore it is the theft of your free will. @VerminiousLOL
I used my MIA symbol deck to ask if I should try and take drugs through airport security. First card was the spade, with Gabriel’s poetry “what kills”. Left that shit behind because of the omen and at the checkpoint they thoroughly searched through its would be hiding place.
Damn Gabriel thats two very synchronistic uploads from you in the last 4 days for me, the first being the one on heartbreak as I was thinking about some personal history that day and then this one as I have been thinking about the Tarot and its place (or potential dangers) in the Spiritual Life. I was literally reading about fear towards, fascination wirh, and conceptions of the Tarot earlier today (I have explored them years ago in terms of symbology and unconscious/self exploration but have ambivalence towards any outright divinatory use or prognostication). Looking forward to watching this🫡
Orthodoxy is how we got to where we are at. Gatekeeping vital information to a governing body only serves to make the rest of us more vulnerable. Possesion is a routine process in pagan cults. In Christianity, it is an uncontrollable, violent and unpredictable event that often leads to death. Your soul is the most important thing you have, do not delegate it's care.
My song lyrics always tell me my tarot, I get the hanged man(Geneva Jacuzzi -dry, the hang man comes) before a crush stops texting me back. Got the tower before a crushes friend died. And alot more, it being in song lyrics makes it much more informative, not just tarot references makes it easier to drive you insane, especially since they mirror you and it is less subject to interpretation. You don't want to talk to God, slay the priest.
I just got your symbol: gift of Thoth tarot cards in the mail and I would absolutely love it if you gave an in-depth description of each card’s meaning and possible interpretations. I feel like the booklet is a little vague but maybe that’s by design. Either way do what thou wilt.
" Collective laughter represents an anticipated and beneficial outbreak of collective psychoses... The colossal quantities of grotesque events that are consumed in cinema are an acute indication of the dangers that threaten humanity caused by the repressions that civilization brings with it. Grotesque American movies and Disney films produce a therapeutic blast of the unconscious"- Walter Benjamin, The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction (1935) Please dont mind my sloppy translation from spanish
The internet is serious business. To me this video seems to aim to a bigger effort in curating information on things such as infohazards, poe's law, trolling, archetypes, parasocial relationships and such.
Any man who calls himself rational cannot find god, for god (and the tarot and reality) will always be irrational to mans concept of irrationality. Therefore if we want to be with god, with truth, we must abandon rationality as the highest principle.
If you have the time and a tarot deck nearby I am wondering if you could find out for me where I should go or what I should do to increase my knowledge.
checked out your website, one of the best websites I’ve explored in a long time but a lot of the links don’t do anything, is it still a work in progress?
Well for one bad itself could be considered to be an archetype. From that follows that the unconscious can't be all good. I don't think he's saying they are good or bad generally. More that we need to strive for a right relationship, not a naive assumption that to dissolve in to the unconscious is a means for salvation.
I am an atheist and I love tarot with all my heart. It has shown me things so deep within me and others, it made me more connected to the people I've done readings for. I am eternally in awe with the way human beings have been able to abstract the unconscious
@@etheldread7646 for me, spirituality is about the unconscious. Not an external force, but something that is constructed by humans in order to understand the world and our collective and individual experiences. It's about archetypes and narratives and not literal magical forces
@@etheldread7646you guys do realize atheists already have an excuse for this? It's called science, meaning he believes it's "real" but it's not from "god" it is just some kind of quantum force or whatever an atheist would say
Interesting that this video is posted after the worldbuilding one, because for a while I've used Tarot cards to prepare DnD-adventures. Most DnD source books are boringly appolonian, putting a striaght-jacket on what's possible and what's not, but the tarot-guided adventure was a wonderful dyonisian exploration of the shared subconciousness of the players at the table.
Chris, I enjoy your channel, but you always say that something is dangerous, the unconscious this and that, etc. Can you give us an example of how tarot is dangerous? A more detailed explanation of what you mean? It's all very unclear
On the Jordan Peterson christian grift train all of a sudden? When’s the last time you went to mass or paid an offertory? I don’t understand the blanket church akshelly ish gud platitude from people who obviously never go.
The only problem with the Peterson church grift train is that most of the churches don’t want to do the leg work of providing community to those that aren’t familiar with the faith hence Peterson shepherds his followers to higher learning or nationalism.
I love Grant Morrison's comics (especially All-Star Superman), but I get why they might not be other people's cup of tea. Morrison was also my introduction to Chaos Magick.
