Nelson loved guns, and read gun magazines on the road and when stopped overnight -- esp. the articles about customizing and optimizing firearms. He loved to shoot the Thompson and would take care to riddle the elaborate plaster, granite, and mahogany decor of a large bank even if the tactical situation did not require it. He also shot out every plate-glass bank window he could, prior to the getaway. He himself was shot at lest twice with revolvers by enterprising citizens while pulling bank jobs with the Dillinger gang, but a bullet-proof vest saved him each time.

Historically correct too. The drum mags were known to jam. Hence why in ww2 they stuck with the stick mags for the most part

He cut loose with 2 Thompson machine guns one in each hand in his final shootout with the FBI. Got hit 17 times and killed all agents on him. Mad as a cut snake.

Apparently he was shot 9 times but they initially reported the number incorrectly. And he killed 2 agents but that was with a .351 Winchester converted to full auto. Still very impressive to live through that and continue to fight.

Haven't seen this since my mom passed 3 years ago. It was her favorite movie and I loved watching it with her as a kid. I always felt the same way when he shoots the cows, "Oh George, not the livestock", bc I grew up in the country around cow pastures and cornfields 😄

Tell that to Larry Phillips Jr and Emil Mătăsăreanu who pulled off bank robberies like this with AKs in the 1990s. They got away with a few before being killed by police in the North Hollywood Shootout of 1997.

Did anybody notice they ( the studio) edited out the part where George kisses the young girl after he jumps off the table but before he runs to the bank teller. Jorge looks like Jimmy Alteri from the Sopranos. This is the brother of the actor Jimmy Alteri. This is Michael badalucco His brother is Joseph. Badalucco how interesting how they very much look-alike and therefore five years apart.

Just presume the Feds lied on the reports of Nelson's death and they just concluded the one in this movie was "an impersonator" to cover up that fact (George REALLY didn't make himself popular with the locals by killing Cows Either LOL. Plus being far from the City in which you know City Folk don't care too much about anything not happening where they are at! Both Lies would be accepted as fact! George DID stop robbing banks and being a Plague when he was "killed" as he just became a plague to the Rural folk of the South who'd only know him as a "Cow Killer!")
