In this video I will show you how to prepare a featherstick and prove that it is a reliable and easy way to start your fire.
Learn this skill and be independent from other tinder sources. Wood is everywhere and can be converted into a good source of ignition.

Hey there, I had one question. When you're feathering the stick, I notice you are operating between your two thighs. I have heard that this is dangerous as you can accidentally cut a femoral artery, which can cause you to bleed out very rapidly! Wouldn't it be best to adjust your stance so you are cutting on the outside of one side? Thanks! ATB. JP

thanks for your question Jon! It might look like the log is right between my thighs... however I have positioned the log in front so, if I should slip, the knife will safely pass my legs. I will do a knife safety video in the future and hopefully you will see that I know how to use a knife properly :) stay save mate

Broken Antler Outdoors Thanks for the reply mate! I'm sure you know how to handle a knife, certainly far better than I do :) Really enjoyed the video and look forward to going through the rest that you've put up. Cheers!

I am sorry I don't understand what you mean... The wood has been split with a knife. It has been cut down to size from a dead tree in the woods. If you would like to look up my video "how to find good firewood" you can see the tree that has been used here. Take care!
