Was a kid, 8 years old in Shiprock NM when the Fenders were the THING! Our family lived right next to the Catholic Church's event center. Quite often they would have The Fenders playing for a dance there and I would go to sleep listening to that rhythmic bass line... couldn't hear anything else.. LOL Also back in those days this song was RACY!! Us little ch'izzhii Diné boys would love to sing the line, "let ole mudder nature have her way", when all the adults were not listening. Especially shima doo maasani! And all through my life when my brothers and I would be out hunting, fishing, camping...someone would drop that line and we would crack up! Lots of great memories from Rez life.
This brings back so many memories of me and my mother on our trips. I was so bummed when they stopped selling their CDs but luckily my aunt still had a tape cassette and was able to take it to an audio store and they were able to convert it to a CD.
Grew up listening to this... May I recommend the Navajo Sundowners, Zuni Midnighters or my old band Cactus Breeze. It's a culture shock, a shock to the culture.
