I have an 83 Mondial QV. The car is such a joy to drive... as you said, the gated shifter, the incredible sounds that emanate from the Italian v8, the feel of the connection to the car without power steering. This is definitely one of those classic Ferraris that is getting better with age and is more appreciated now than initially. It's an experience any car enthusiast should enjoy at least once!
@@ddelosrios87 In my experience, and from other owners as well, the motors are among the best Ferrari ever made, and are near bullet-proof. The rest of the car is a 1980s Italian hand-built car... so it varies. Getting these cars sorted out if they've been sitting or had maintenance neglected is not for the faint of heart. It's expensive, takes longer than assumed, and always comes with unexpected surprises. That being said, its an experience like no other. FERRARI!
@@marcstone6114 maintenance is not for the faint of heart. It’s expensive. Everything on a Ferrari is, and it’s no different for these mid 80s cars. They’re not hard to work on but fewer and fewer guys know them so a knowledgeable shop is vital. Parts are generally available but are expensive. Again it’s a Ferrari. I have nearly the same amount in maintenance costs in 3 years as I paid for the car but mine hadn’t been driven in many years so it needed quite a bit of sorting. But it’s worth it to me. Ferraris are just DIFFERENT. These era cars are amazing and there will not be anything like them ever again. But inexpensive they are not.
Great video! Love these cars. They're at such a reasonable price point to aspire to; let's just hope they don't shoot up crazily in value before I can afford one. 😆
The best Ferrari sports car is the all analog (baby Testarossa) Ferrari 348. The 348 is the biggest bang for the buck in Ferraris. As the predecessor to the 355, the 348 has the Formula 1 exhaust note without the costly valve and active suspension issues the 355 has. Less is more in analog sports cars. Older is easier as most can work on a 348. Its now or never for 348 buyers.
I’ve always preferred the Mondrian over the 308/328..... And I like the Bertone GT4......and I would gladly take a 348 Spider or Coupe I never realized how long the V8 was utilized/ developed.....in the same way Lamborghini’s V12 was
i only have 7 ferrari ,including the Dino´s but the mondial is the more recent i own and only have it for the pleasure it was to drive it fast in mountain roads ,with manual gears if automatic i don´t even understand why it exists ,well for 16 years old kids who don´t know to drive and many die because of todays super fast cars with automatic gears ,they should drive first a renault clio 1.2 L at the most and it´s already too fast. 75 h.p. if the 16 valves version, which is already a dangerous car for non experience kids with drivers permit
you seem to be driving very far from the steering wheel if a litle closer you´ll notice the better handling it provides and low rev´s destroy the engine
The early mondial was slow and not that good handling, the later T with the larger engine and different engine layout to bring down the centre of gravity was a far better car.
This might not be your own car ....but this not how to drive a mondial. Powerband is high up the rev range. Between 5000 and 7500 rpm is were she excelles. In other words warm her up and and it revit up like a dirt bike !!!
