Today we’re exploring the stamps of British King Edward VIII. His reign in 1936 was so short that only a single series of four stamps came out featuring him.
Also, let’s take a moment to remember Bob Hole, who passed away this week. Bob was a friend to the hobby, helping us all learn with his RU-vid channel--one of the first--Bob Collects Stamps. You can watch his excellent work here: / @bobcollectsstamps

Wonderful video about King Edward VIII stamps. After his abdication, France issued a pair of wedding covers for the marriage of The Duke of Windsor to Mrs. Simpson. Thank you for sharing Ken. Enjoyed watching!😊

I found them. Apparently they wed in France, but France couldn't put out a stamp honoring them.

Just to be picky, the four stamps you attribute to Canada are only two Canadian stamps. The bottom row are two Newfoundland Customs Duty stamps. Great synopsis, a good start for somebody wanting to specialize in monarch stamps.

Great video, you got my sub… the movie “The King’s speech” will show the rise of King George VI and his brother Edward VIII relationship with Wallis Simpson.

Great video, Ken! I didn't know about the stamps featuring Edward VIII as a child and prince. He was indeed a adorable curly haired child. Just for interest: there is also a stamp set commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Penny Black which was issued in 1990 by New Zealand which includes a stamp featuring Kind Edward VIII.

@@KensStampCollection 😆There is another New Zealand stamps on which K. Edward VIII is depicted. I forgot about it: New Zealand stamp of the Centennial Commemorative Set of 1940. Except maybe K. Thanks again for an informative video:) Knew the history of the brief reign, but I hadn't seen those overprints, or bothered to notice more modern stamps with his image. I thought 4 was the extent of it. You always teach me something and that makes me smile:)

@@KensStampCollection BTW, I forgot to mention, love the content. I'm most interested in stamps from the WW1 thru WW2 era and I have a couple of shoe boxes full of unsorted British & colonies stamps from that time period. I have the first four in an album already and I think I might dive into those boxes and see if I can land an overprint or two :).

The unreleased Edward VIII Australian block is now down to a block of 4. It is coming under the hammer next week in Zurich at Corinphila. Bidding STARTS at 250,000 Swiss Francs, or about $340,000 US including buyer's commission.

I have a folder that was issued in 1936: Prince, King-Emperor, Duke all-in the same year. It includes 15 stamps and the envelope it came in. Is this of any value? and where should I go to sell it. This came from my grandmother’s collection. I am 70 years old and neither of my children are interested in stamp collection. Thank you for any help you can give me. Karen M. Davis

Stamps from that era are usually not too valuable. I'd suggest you look on eBay under sold items and see what others have sold it for. My guess would be about $10-$50, but it's just a guess.

there are variant perfins in regular EDWARD issues if you want complete collection

Such an interesting point. Perfins don’t get their own catalog numbers, but there’s no reason we need to limit our collection the same way the catalog makers do. Thanks

Hi Rob, Thanks for this. There are no 1936 stamps for either one, but there are 4 stamps each in 1937 that look very similar to the Edward VIII stamps. They feature George VI. Were there others I missed? I'd love to find 6 more for sure.
