I remember my first time watching this trailer. "Master Matoya" Me: "wait... what?" "Minfilia" Me: "Wait. What?!" "Warrior of Darkness" Me: "WAIT... WHAT?!!" Such a great trailer!
I always watch everyone's reaction to this, it just blows away everything that came before it. And it somehow manages to be more confusing with context than to someone who hasn't played FF14.
It makes sense. Without context or not having played the game, it's just some fight scenes a bunch of characters talking while awesome music plays lol. So there's nothing for people unfamiliar with the game to be confused about. All the littles twists and hints only matter to people who have played the game.
Eh. About half of it is things that happened before 5.0 started, and the other half is a cool fight scene that basically exists to give us something to look at (and set up the last line). All of it makes sense.
Incase you didn't realize.....the Jobs the main character uses is in order of the Releases of FFXIV and the expansions..... 1. Archer, because in the Original Release of FFXIV the main character was an Archer 2. Warrior, because in A Realm Reborn, the re-release of FFXIV he changed into a Warrior 3. Dragoon for Heavensward 4. A Monk followed by Samurai for Stormblood.... 5. A Dark Knight for Shadowbringers.....
Reactions to this trailer are always great. But it's always best when you get them from someone who's played up to this point in the story first, because the reaction to Thancred's final line is always amazing. Just watching the reactor shut down for a few moments as they process what they heard and how can that even be possible, and bringing back the memories to when I got hit by that exact same thunderbolt.
A huge turning point, in the story, for the game in general... And we got Ishikawa Natsuko as the main writer, which i attribute a lot of the success to. I can't believe she won't be for Dawntrail, maybe someone else will do great but i'm going to miss her inevitably and this person will see why soon after this
I agree, really. I'll miss her a lot, but I think the choice is going to be right for Dawntrail. The entire feel of the expansion is going to be extremely different from the past two, and while I would love to see the angst come back further down the line, I do think that moving to a writer who has a different take will make Dawntrail a marked separation from the others. I'm looking forward to going to El Dorado and having some lighthearted stuff for an expansion! (But I def want to see her come back at some point! I love her stories too much!)
Ishikawa-San is an amazing writer and has proven her ability to tie up loose threads into a cohesive, heart-wrenching story. I’m actually more than OK with her not helming the story for a while to let some unique ideas filter in, then in another 5 years or so of that she can come back in and mop it all up for us again. Lol
She is still gonna be overseeing things at least so I hope that will ensure some quality. The new lead writer is... ok, but I think Ishikawa definitely is more impressive to me. So hopefully she can mentor him well.
It is absolutely insane to me how effective of a trailer Shadowbringers is. If I see any streamer or player who wants to react to it, I will be there, every time the experience is fresh and new. Whatever they did for this, it absolutely worked and really should be showcased in a museum or something. And I'm so glad that you responded to it with that same level of hype that I think everyone has, even to this day. It's such a good trailer, just, like, woah.
Yeah, you noticed the step up in quality for the trailer. Thing is, everything about the expansion has that quality increase. The story, the execution, the pacing, even the voice work and the music. You’re in for a roller coaster ride, enjoy it! Here’s the first of many… Welcome to Shadowbringers! I hope you brought tissues.
this trailer is a masterclass in visual storytelling (and storytelling in general!) and it's always a delight watching new players react to it! welcome to shadowbringers :)
When I saw this for the first time, the Minfilia line pushed me over the edge. These trailers are so incredibly well done. They are not only near perfect technically, but they are doing such a good job at getting you hyped without actually spoiling anything.
This trailer is one I recommend watching after you beat the .0 story line, as well to see what you understand like even the beginning section has lore behind it iirc
I highly recommend rewatching the trailer as you get closer to the end of the 5.0 MSQ. There are several parts that you may not have understood that will become clear by then.
It begins...I watched and re-watched this teaser and then trailer so many times while waiting for Shadowbringers release and still get chills when I watch it after finishing Endwalker)
This is the best expansion so far. Endwalker was pretty good too, but Shadowbringers is still a level above it. Even it has been 4-5 years or so, I still get emotional watching that trailer!
Glad you loved the trailer and why we so love this game, you questions will eventually be answered have fun as this is so much better than the stormblood expansion. Sad i missed you reacting live, this is good enough :) (Brickshouse in your stream)
It's 5 a.m. and I woke up because it was too warm in my room while I was waiting to go back to sleep I ended up finding this and every single time I see a first time reaction and just this trailer in general I get hyped the F up and now I'm hyped up trying to call back down to go back to sleep hopefully you enjoyed shadowbringers it is a trip one of the best in all of Final Fantasy 14 ❤
One of the best parts of this trailer.... The WoL goes through each and every job-change he's gone through across all of FFXIV while fighting the Angel. 1) 1.0 Archer 2) ARR Warrior 3) Heavensward Dragoon. 4) Stormblood 1/2 Samurai 5) Stormblood 2/2 Monk 6) Falls into Darkness for Shadowbringers as Dark Knight. Gives me goosebumps every damn time. Enjoy Feelsbringers! WE FAAAAAAAAAAALLLL!
I always wonder: why does Cat Mommy look so much better/different here than she does in later trailers? is it just the lighting, or did they change her face's proportions?
yaaay another MSQ reaction to become temporarily obsessed with through the end of Endwalker :D I'm on board, always down for this kind of content. Enjoy your journey, Warrior of Light. And never forget that a smile better suits a hero ;)
I just realized. That attack that the warrior of light does at the end of the video is called shadowbringer, but you don't actually get it until level 90 lol.
3:40 to 3:45 (ish) I've been working my way through SHB over the past few months, and I STILL can't get over how much the theme song slaps 😂 Particularly since it starts out as the sort of sweeping, majestic melody you would expect from FF, pivots to an orchestral rock piece (with a bit of a grunge/punk vibe to it)... and then there's this segment where the guitarist and vocalist(s) just shred it for a good 15 seconds.
I have seen this at least 100x Shadowbringers was phenomenal tbh. The best part is right before the Sin Eater is slain, that super brief flicker of terror in its eyes before being slain is an incredible detail.
Shadowbringers by far has one of the best main songs and trailers I feel. Every single scene and lyrics are filled with meaning and foreshadowing while spoiling nothing. Literal chills every time I see it
I am begging you to share you shadowbringers experiences on youtube. Mostly because I am an evil person who delights in people's tears, but also because it's a VERY good expansion.
I played from the start and unsubscribed for a good while after I finished Heavensward, came back at Endwalker and joined a FC then ploughed through the main story and when I announced in chat 'just started Shadowbringers' everyone went nuts saying they wish they could be in my shoes starting this expansion for the first time. I adored this section, my favourite part to play through hands down.
I absolutely LOVE this intro to Shadowbringers. And Shadowbringers is hands down my favorite expansion. Endwalker was absolutely incredible, but I still prefer Shadowbringers.
If you think the trailer is good, wait until you play the expansion. :D I promise it will all make sense, and judging by your past videos, you will absolutely love it. :)
Please put your shadowbringers playthrough on RU-vid. I wish I could watch your stream but schedule conflicts. Shadowbringers was such an amazing expansion and I can't experience it for the first time again, so I have to live vacariously through others.
The best part of this trailer is that SPOILERS . . . . . . . . . . Everything you see in it has already happened by the time you finish the first dungeon. This is THE FIRST SECTION.
